@@MimicMayhem66 I thought a crash was imminent for the last 10 years. Somehow the show keeps going. People got a reality check in 2019 and the market went down big, but then the picture box convinced everyone to take the market to record highs. Does that make any sense? While we were giving away money to everyone.

27:03 - I remember that feud that James was talking about between Big Boss Man and Nailz. It was pretty much the only thing Nailz did in WWF. And I remember it clear as day because I was about 7 years old and Nailz terrified me. Just a slight correction to the storyline though. By that time, which was around '92, Bossman was already a babyface because of how popular he had become. I don't know if Nailz was SPECIFICALLY made an inmate character FOR Boss Man to feud with. But the storyline was that Boss Man put Nailz away a long time ago. And Nailz was back for revenge. Boss Man was off TV for a few weeks when Nailz cuffed him to the ropes and beat Boss Man down with his own nightstick. And then the Saturday wrestling shows would play these "via phone" interviews with a recovering bossman, and they would display photos of a black and blue bossman on TV with his eye swollen shut. Very impressionable stuff for kids at that time.

Nailz did a storyline feud with Undertaker in November and December 1992 as well, but it got cut-off mid angle after the Nails vs. Vince altercation happened. It was good enough to make the official WWF magazine cover at that time. I was too young in 1992 (didn't start watching wrestling until early 1994) but I've seen Nailz's stuff after the fact.

The best interview I've seen about Vince, was from Jerry Jarret(Hannibal TV I think). Jerry explained the psyche of Vince, how he's a straightup sociopath. Even said Vince could cry on command (which, is now a meme) to manipulate people. I don't think Vince is capable about caring about a single human being if they don't serve him in some kind of capacity. That includes his family. The fact that Owen fell to his death, and he didn't stop show, shows how little he cared. That's an accident/crime scene, that needed to be investigated immediately- but he didn't care about a mid carder possibly stopping his show. I'm surprised he never upset the wrong people (The Genovese Crime family) and ended up on the wrong end of an outcome.

Vince McMahon was visibly upset when Chris Benoit passed away on the tribute show (before anyone knew the truth), but I think he was sad mainly because he lost a big money-maker. Owen Hart wasn't at Benoit's level in that regard in the McMahon heirarchy. While he was alive McMahon always spoke about Benoit being a great worker, showing up to work everyday and being someone he could always rely on. A day later when McMahon learned what happened, he was visibly angry/stern. I never liked Benoit, but as someone big into true crime, my friend recorded tapes of that time period of the WWE show for me to examine so I can make an accurate conclusion. It was obvious McMahon wasn't burying him drafting him to to ECW, but pushing him on the brand to help the show & work with all the young guys (especially CM Punk who McMahon later pushed to the moon). Benoit was going to be champion beating Punk when he died, while Owen was doing weird TV gaga with the Godfather & Jeff Jarrett. Some lives matter more to Vince, I guess, if you're a good enough worker/money maker.

Its possible that after WWE paid the $20 million to MLW, the TKO owners saw the Janel Grant NDA $2 million Balance and said “F**k, we’re not PAYING THAT!”. Thus starting the lawsuit. Because remember the WWE lawyer did that deal so it possible WWE was footing that bill.

Vince McMahon Sr. was the owner at that time (not Vince McMahon Jr.), so it could've been Sr. but I find it unlikely as he had a better reputation in comparison to his son. Then, with Undertaker being the WWE loyalist went on to do Patterson's bidding & get revenge on Kanyon. I didn't watch the Ruthless Aggression era (wasn't a fan and I stopped watching well before it), but I know Patterson's influence and antics got worse after Russo and Ferrara left. I remember how Chyna said that Patterson was the interim booker leading up to her Jeff Jarrett PPV match. Russo already wrote the storyline, and Patterson finished the last few weeks of the angle, and not long after Stephanie McMahon came into the picture. That's how I recall Chyna described it, Patterson and Stephanie getting more power in very late 1999/2000/early 2001, the two filling the Russo/Ferrara vacuum.
