Renault Grand Scenic II recirculation vent stepper motor replacement

Renault Grand Scenic II recirculation vent stepper motor replacement
Important - the motor travel is more than the vent travel.
I held the motor roughly in position, with the motor at the vent "open/fresh air" end of its travel.
Then I pressed the switch to go to recirculation.
As the motor turns it reaches a point where it will slide into place. The vent is then at its recirculation position and the motor can't turn any more, even though it wants to.
Now you can put the screws in and secure the vent.
On the whole a bad design. The motor is left under stress at both ends of the vent travel, and the plastic gears simply can't handle the stress.
New motors are crazy expensive, at around 100 Euro. But possibly still a better option than playing Russian roulette and buying a second hand motor which might also have worn gears.
Check out my other videos for how to remove the dashboard to get access to the stepper motor and ventilation fan.
