Renault Clio 172 DIY Weight Reduction + Injector and Powerflex Engine Mount Install | BTB Ep 8

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Our Clio 172 Cup let us down the night before a track day so we extracted our revenge on the car by ripping the interior out! First we had to fit a new injector to get it running again. We also fitted a Powerflex top engine mount to reduce the engine movement under load which hugely improved the gear change. The car is now driving better than ever... time to book another track day!

Actually the AA guy did give you the correct diagnosis, he said injector 4. The injector order is 1-4 from right to left because it starts from the gearbox side. So your injector order looking at the engine bay will be 4-3-2-1, 4 being the far left and 1 being on the far right

Guys That Drive That stuff needed replacing anyway on mine, showing its age a bit. So I got VMAXX coilovers which are considered average but great on a budget. It's about as good as the OEM set up but u get the benefit of adjustability of course. Had it sat at 40mm all round which was perfect, almost ripped my splitter off a couple of times like.

Good stuff guys, keep it up! Get some bucket seats in there asap! The front seats weigh a crap load, from memory mine were 30kg each (although mine were full fat leather/alcantara ones). There is also lots sound deadening under the roof liner and front carpets...(horrible/messy job to remove though!)

  • @GuysThatDrive

The Cup doesn't have sound deadening under the carpets - it's not like a normal 172. So that's a messy job saved. Also, the Cup seats don't have air bags - the standard seats are pretty light as far as standard seats go. Bucket seats will be a massive improvement to stop you moving around though :) Keep it up! :)

stevenpayne81 not a big job at all really, just do the test we did with the cardboard to find out which injector is bad. We got the injector for about 35 quid from euro car parts.
