How Fast is Our Bought Not Built Clio 172 Track Car? Ft. Brands Hatch

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

• Download our FREE Track Driving Cheat Sheet to help improve your track driving: camberandcombustion.com/track...
Welcome to onboard footage from our recent track day at Brands Hatch and the first track outing for our newly bought not built Clio 172. The plan to replace the old Clio 197 with a car of similar pace didn’t quite go to plan, oops! Although evenly matched in the corners, it was the 172’s superior straight line speed which proved too much for the Peugeot 306 GTi6 to handle. Back to the drawing board!
We hope you enjoy the video, let us know what you think and if you want to see more hit the subscribe button.

You’ve got a solid engine in a very light and capable platform, just a bit of handling upgrades and your clio will be an absolute hoot. Sure it won’t be fast, but what’s more fun than revving it to the limiter and still be nowhere near the speed limit?

Always an entertaining video from you guys 💥. Your music choice to match the in car footage from the 172 was genius. No 197 had anywhere near 197 ps let alone 197 bhp. Some Clio 172 had near 172, some didn't. Plus extra weight of 197. For reference, my cousin's 197 made 174 bhp at a Clio RR day and his friends, with filter and zorst mods made 180.

  • @Leesmithmk2

@@bobfranks6445 Yeah that's because they're wheel horse power figures on a dyno. Factory get their readings from the crank where nearly all of them make 197ps at crank, around 194hp. 194hp at the crank converts to around 170whp on average. So those 197's made good power. The one making 180whp would be around 210bhp at the crank.

The 197 has a much more advanced and capable chassis than the Clio 172/182, but the 197 is heavier so is slower in a straight line. Compared to an EP3 the 197's handling is much better and it is more adjustable but the EP3 engine is amazing! Ideally, a 197 chassis with an EP3 engine would be perfect.

Seems most cars handle better on 15S see alot of stuff with 15s swapped from 17s especially hot hatches tyres seem cheaper too love the 306 gti 6 was a 90s hot hatch bench mark then the clios came along to take the crown think although the Renault quicker I prefer the 306. Should have gone clio Williams although expensive and quite rare now.

@@isoconfused8744 I would say the Clio is substantially better suited to being a fun track car than the fiesta, out the box they do everything better, they are also lighter and the gearbox doesn't leak hot chocolate quite so easily (although still weaker than others). Not sure who told you the ST150 handles better because it really doesn't. Either car would be a good laugh though so doubt you can really go wrong!
