    Jambo Sue 🤩💐 the bell bottoms... I know I repeat myself, but... I love the look and the visual of some guy on stilts in a parade, so, I do keep bringing that up 😅 King and I are 'sort of friends'. He doesn't know how I feel about him, I don't let him know 😬 but... there is still a hint of PTSD remaining in me. I think he knows what he has done wrong, when I growl at him if he comes close where I am with the orchids. He likes to be around me, at all times, at my feet when I am at my desk etc, but... there is now a 1 meter rule I have put into place and I growl when he crosses that boundary. While I watch, it works. It is when I am busy with something indoors, that is when I wonder and stress if he is up to something! So far, its been good and I have not seen any signs of damage around the hedge either. 🙏🏼🤞🏼 thank you, Sue, for watching! Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday 🌸

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging comment, meine liebe Freundin! King... I don't even know what he weighs, but yes... he is a big boy and always at my feet. Now, when I am working with the orchids, I don't let him close to me and I am still watching him when he goes to the patio on his own. Still have trust issues 😒 thank you for your wishes... I am off to walk King now, it is not a clear sunny day, so a little cooler this time of day. I am going to walk to my garden centre to get some eye candy into my mind, maybe to remove what is occupying space right now 😘😘 Much love to you and your's Fernanda!! Oh wow!!!! That spike is beautiful 😻. Now I’m even more excited to see mine in bloom one day but from the size of your orchid it looks like it’s going to be a while... Hahaha pronunciations, yeah I must be honest I also mess up half of them and then think afterwords “actually that’s how it should be pronounced”. I think we get so used to the way the greater KZread community pronounce things that we forget to stop and think about it. Yeah I think I’m also going to try to transition my citrina to the outdoors in a few years when she is bigger. It would be great to see her hanging on a tree in the garden. The Orchid Room was schooled by a viewer as to how to say Cattleya properly because of how Mr. Cattleya's name was actually pronounced. It was nice of the viewer to point this correction out, but the how he did it, was not so charming 😒 so, it became a bit of a tease for us, back in the day to make a point of pronouncing Cattleya properly.... ergo. Catt-lee-ya and we made sure to drag the 'lee' part out a little longer than necessary. No more 'ley' 😅 besides, I did not want to have a comment like that in one of my videos 😬

    Hi Res 🤩💐 she is approximately 30 cm (11 inches) after 3 years. She is faster than the monachica in growth, but definitely not one that would take up much space at all, her leaf span is approx 30cm (11 inches) in total as well, and that won't change. Definitely would do well in intermediate conditions, because since I got her, I kept moving her indoors during the winter and it never got to single C digits in my dining room. Good morning! The Renanthera citrina seems like a perfect fit for your climate and growing method :) Sure it needs more humidity, but at least she has the right humidity around its roots. That usually helps a lot. And she is happy for sure, so many blooms! And branching! It looks amazing. By the way do you notice any ill effects with the ferns and weeds growing in the pots? I remember one repotting where it was difficult to clean up cause the fern roots just filled every single part of the pot. Does it interfere in your experience with the root growth? Or it just increases humidity in the pot and gets rid of excess nutrients? I figure ferns can be a bit more hungry for nutrients than orchids are. Anyway, have a great day!

  • @NinjaOrchids

    @NinjaOrchids

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey!! 🌸🥷🏼 SnowDragonka San! I have read that spikes usually feature approx 5-8 blooms... so, I am really pleased with this year's blooming 🙌🏼 the ferns are an issue! Right now, as we head into the hottest months of the year, I am willing to let it grow some leaves, but I do not let them get big, I nip them off and if by doing that I manage to pull out roots, then that is a bonus! I had the oerstedii to uppot and that had fern roots all tangled in with the lava rock from the first potting up many years ago, and... although they are dead, and fine in structure... the only problem they pose is that I don't like having them in there...Ideally, I don't want them in my pots. I even try to keep the little micro climate in my stan baskets, in check. Ferns want to grow there and I keep pulling off the leaves. 😒 they look pretty, but I am not one to be fooled by 'looks' 😅 Thank you for watching, SnowDragonka! Have yourself a great Tuesday 🌸🥷🏼

    First things first, I notice the jumblies are still there on King. Will those be coming off or you don't do that? I'm not passing judgement, but taking them off does tend to make males a bit more subdued. The citrina looks good, but there seems to be some yellow patchiness on the leaves. Is that from light or is it possibly a deficiency? When I see that, I think not enough magnesium. Not always the case, though. The blooms, though, man that is a gorgeous yellow. That plant isn't so easy to get here. It has been on my list but I always come up empty. (as far as Renanthera go, it is the one for me)

    Don Miguel 🥰💐 yes, King still sports his crown jewels... I don't have the budget at the moment to take care of that. Thierry always had his crown jewels because he was so perfect that the vet said he would not recommend me to deal with it, because of the possibility of breeding him. Unfortunately, I never found a female for Thierry, but he never gave me any problems because of his macho endorsements. Right now, its me and training King. It will have to do. You are right about the yellow patchiness ... I have started magnesium treatment this morning. I appreciate your eyes 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I can see it now that you pointed it out. I thought I was doing well last year when I got 7 blooms on a spike, because the books say that they spike max 7-9 blooms on a spike. I never expected branches, so I am well pleased. And, the blooms are holding on well, which they did not do the past years. 🙌🏼 Thank you for watching, and watching over my 'chids and pointing out what you see, so that I can deal with it in a timely manner 🙏🏼👍🏼 have a wonderful Tuesday, Michael! Much love ❤️🌸

    @@NinjaOrchids How can one distinguish if the yellow leaves are due to a deficiency or if it is a lighting issue? I've got the same problem with some of my phals but just the ones close to the light, the ones far away don't have this issue. Plus for me, it's not patches, it's the whole leaf that's more....I would not say yellow but they have a really light green color. I guess my case it's more the lighting, would you agree? I've heard that polychilus phals like to have a bit more light than complex hybrids, is ithis true? These are the phals I've got closer to the light.

    @@NinjaOrchids I understand. Here we have discount (free if you qualify) spay and neuter services through the county. I waited a very long time before neutering my Maltese because I had hoped to breed him but it never happened. After he turned 5, I gave up and got him snipped. About a month later a woman approached me about breeding him. 🤦‍♀️ You would think the magnesium in the MSU would be sufficient for it, but maybe it is a magnesium hog? Many of the Phragmipedium species require a ridiculous amount of calcium because they are calcium lazy. I always add Calnitrate when I water them, regardless if it is a "flush" or feed, that way I know they're always getting "enough".

I walked him earlier today on the short leash and 'we are still learning' 😬 I have not started adding Calnitrate yet... but, now that you mention it 🙌🏼🙌🏼 methinks, tomorrow a soak in that will do some good and I can throw others into the mix as well, to finish the bucket 👍🏼 thank you! 🥰
