Ren - Losing It REACTION (Analysis & Bar Breakdown)🔥This was FUN!
Bec, back once again… oh wait? That's not how it goes. Today I'm finally sharing my reaction to, and full analysis and bar breakdown of, to Ren's 'Losing It (Fisher Rap Retake)' and OH BOY, this was a fun ride!
Like, I literally almost fell off my chair and knocked over my shelving unit. But we're all good. The bars and flows Ren shows here are UNMATCHED. This guy somehow keeps impressing me more and more with each track I hear, and I CANNOT WAIT to keep going down this spiral into Rendemonium.
For now, I hope you enjoy this one!
Take care of yourselves!💕

Just a few things you may have missed. Locomotive = train Loco Motive = crazy reason for doing a thing Macbeth = Shakespearean play Paul McBeth = Frisbee golf champion who goes "beast mode" and can hit his target from 100+ yards away, through many, many obstacles. Also, they played Red Light - Green Light in Squid Game, and his track suit is just like the ones they wore in Squid Game. Great vid. 👍

@@ammoganYep, and he even has the same number on his tracksuit that the main character in Squid Game wore/was identified by. In Squid Game, the game was ... a lot more sinister, and I think in the "spotlight, spotlight, spotlight, get 'em" line that follows, the last part *might* be alluding to what happened to people who moved in that show.
Couple things about this one: 1. This was SO much fun, thanks to everyone who recommended it, AND to Ren for blessing us with yet another showcase of masterful ability. 2. I know, I know, I *censor* (**EDIT: Voice dictation and lack of proofreading gets me every time**) some things, and I apologize if it messes up the vibe for you, it’s just a personal decision I made across all social media years ago, and I hope you can understand. I know most of you get it, but just throwing this up here for those who may not. 3. The camera is a little out of focus in some places for the first few minutes, but it gets better throughout!

This means so much to me, Julie, because there was once a time I was most definitely stuck in some of the more toxic theology systems out there, and it makes my heart happy to see that others can also see how I’ve been able to break out of that and not live a life of only hate and judgment. I honestly feel like my faith is stronger now than it’s ever been, because I’ve owned it and can admit I don’t have an answer for everything-nor am I supposed to. Therein lies the faith aspect. And this is after most of 2022 when it was shaken more than I ever thought possible. I’ve had times where I’ve been tempted to just share things and see how it goes, but I always come back to the thought: even if this isn’t faith-centric content, if I’m sharing my faith in any way online, everything I post should be as much a reflection of that character as it can be, and if that means having to cut out something here and there, it’s just something I personally feel strongly about. And it’s so wonderful to read comments like this that show me there are others who get it and appreciate it.
Told you this is gonna be fun, didn´t i ? 😃 Fisher Rap is an older EDM track, i knew it cause i´m a bit older than you ( 55 ) but what Ren did with it is nothing short of phenomenal. His magic with words, his ability of working with the rhythm, his speed, i have never seen or heard anything like this before. And he constantly changes his flows. It shows that he has been doing this for years. Technique, Creativity, Musicality, a genius, a prodigy. I am not an expert on hip hop or rap by any means, but i´d say Ren is a top level artist in that field. He already showed that in "The Hunger". Loved your reaction when he went beast mode. I kinda knew you would be shocked. Ren never ceases to amaze me, he can do it all. Wait till you see what he can do with "The Big Push", mostly busking in the streets of Brighton. His live version of "I shot the sheriff / Road to Zion / hip hop" is amazing, Reggae at it´s purest and finest.

Definitely needed the smiles.😁 And I agree with you on all you said about Ren-he has definitely cemented himself in hip-hop itself, and he’s even MORE versatile than basically every other hip-hop artist (and almost any other darting, period) so he’s doing a lot of things others never will be able to do quite like he has/is! Absolutely one of my now-all-time fave artists.💯💕 For sure looking forward to digging into some of The Big Push stuff, I’ve heard it’s really great and I’m all about feel-good things that can help me smile amidst the more emotional tracks.😁
Bongo Bong is a song by Mano Chao (awesome band in their own right) and The Big Push do a great cover. That song was my first intro to Ren and company and I haven't been let down by any of their original, covers or retakes. Really enjoying your reactions....Merci

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this comment; I knew there would be a few people who noticed it and mentioned it, but thankfully the people I’ve met in this fan base have done it just in just, but reading your words really means more than I’m able to say, there are just certain things I decided years ago to try to avoid having on my channel, and even though I appreciate the humor and creative cinematography of some of those parts, the safest bet to stay true to the blues I started this with years ago is to just kind of roll on by them and analyze everything I can around whatever line/lines are in question. One of the best things to love about Ren is that he... does... REAL... so... well (ellipses included for dramatic pause effect between words). Whether making sociopolitical commentary, delivering mental health awareness and acceptance (publicly and personally) or plainly stating that we are ALL more alike than not. He has addressed how systems are flawed- governments, medical institutions, economies, media- but empowers all those who enjoy his message delivery to feel something unapologetically. You are a regular Sherlock at picking up the subtleties of these absurdly intricate rhymes! One of the uniquely british things which I doubt many people (even brits) will remember is the "Rag and Bone" Man. They basically bought and sold door to door, a fixture of street life and emblematic of a certain class of society. Ren very likely made a class journey downwards (in comparison to his parents) as I also did. And, as he struggled to make ends meet performing on the streets, he identified with the less well off... A regular well-known local figure, Just like a rag and bone man.

Thank you, kindly (yet again)😉. But seriously, it made my heart smile to read your words, more than I can adequately convey. I’ve spent my entire life obsessively memorizing and committing to memory lyrics of all kinds of genres/artists, but rap in particular is one that lights up my brain in a very unique way, and I’ve somehow just had a knack for being able to remember a lot of lyrics (I now know that’s probably partially due to autism that wasn’t caught until a little over a year ago) and/or recite them, and I’m so thankful to finally have a wha to put it out there in ways people can connect to it, because goodness knows I’ve talked my husband’s ear off way too often over the years when feeling out about this stuff. I also firmly believe music, and rap in particular, for me, can heal. There were years that went by here I couldn’t either remember my name, write a sentence, speak coherently, etc., as a result of the damage caused by Lyme, among other illnesses. I’m those years, I wouldn’t have been able to write things out if someone gave me a million dollars. But I could turn on a beat and write lyrics, and in doing so, somehow tap into the part of my brain that couldn’t otherwise put together Big fan of music in all ways. All that just to say, your acknowledgment of those lyrics alone really touched my soul in a positive way.💕

And thanks for checking in, we’ve had a plot twist in the rocket fuel situation-the brand I’ve used since 2016/2017 now apparently has an ingredient my MCAS now reacts to, which is the exact opposite of what we were hoping, so we’re just trying to find ways to keep moving forward and still make sure I can get enough of a solid baseline, somehow. Hopefully some medication and supplant changes we’re making will calm down the extra reactivity so I can get back on the schedule we’re shooting for. Just having to get creative with other options until we get this under control. But I refuse to give up! Thanks also for the congrats! I am just continually mindblown by how many people have shown their support here. @@janmulcahy1458 Funny you should ask. I’m not an English teacher, but I DID major in English, and was on track to teach HS English (long story short, my college was amazing, but the education program less so, so I stopped the fall of my senior year and never did my student teaching, but completed my major in English and minor in Creative Writing). I’m also one of those kids who spent recess in elementary school reading the dictionary and grammar handbooks, and I consider myself a student of the rap game/hip-hop in general, so I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find my lane in all this. So cool that you were a drama teacher! Also, I’m married to a band director, have a mom who was a music teacher, a sister who has a music Ed degree, and I was in band and orchestra, too, so when I can find some way to combine my love for music with my love for words (and Ren gives ample opportunity to do that), I love it!

I like this angle a lot. Interesting you mention martial arts-when I did Shotokan karate (6th grade-12th grade), I was always rubbed the ring way by a statement my sensei put on the sheets where he listed the requirements for belt testing, etc. It said “Practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.” And I always understood the intention was good, but it just added more pressure on my to reach for perfection that is unattainable.

While The Hunger is such a good track, I feel like it's more of a short showcase of what Ren is capable of with his rapping skills, to where this song is just pure fun, get ready to go out on the town fun, make cleaning the house fun, type song!! Also, I'm not sure if you see much of Ren on twitch, I'm not on there but caught a video he posted to YT, I know you're very accepting of Ren and all people despite bad habits or what not, but I still think you'll be happy to hear he announced that he has been nicotine free for 2 months now, said he didn't want to jinx it until he had a few months under his belt. Said he's feeling better than ever and had been wanting to quit for a while. He's inspired me to try and quit myself, I hopefully am on my last pack right now!! I’m not typically a huge believer in coincidence, so I tend to think, when things like yo serendipitously, it’s because there’s a bigger picture at play, and we come across the things we need to see/hear/encounter when we need them. It sounds to me like that’s what happened when you found Hi Ren while waiting for your therapist to call. That gave me chills to read. From all the feedback I’ve seen, he really does have fans of all ages, and all walks of life, and even with our differences, he’s found a way to unify us all around our shared, common humanity, and that’s the mark of a REALLY special artist. I’m also really glad you enjoyed this one-he packs SO much skill and meaning I it every line, and delivers things so perfectly, I cousin stop smiling at HIM smiling and having fun!😁

loving your reaction & ability to recall lines (with intonation) of his other songs!!! rag-and-bone man: in the UK - "in the past, a man who went round the streets of a town to buy old clothes, furniture, and other unwanted things cheaply" - (in the US - "ragman?") perhaps an allusion to him using "old things" & making them new, like this Retake?

Thank you! You know, for ONCE I finally have a reason to put the skill of memorizing and recalling lyrics/intonation, etc. My poor husband has heard me go off about it for years, to the point where I’m sure it’s exhausting to listen at times (but he kindly does, even if I go on for hours about one s verse and how it relates to 10-20 other songs). It means a lot to me that you noticed it, because it’s one thing I actually feel kind of proud of in my life. And it makes me cringe to write those words, bc I am so uncomfortable with saying/accepting anything remotely positive about myself. But it’s one thing I’m glad I’ve been able to incorporate effectively, for sure. Thanks for the info on the rag and bone man history, I’d be surprised if that’s not another layer of meaning he’s got going on!

@@BeccaDoss as a Christian myself, it fascinates & excites me when people dive into words’ original meanings, context & connections between songs in an artist’s body of work. It rings true of the study of the Word, where the gems found there actually speak life. Once, I was reading Heb. 13:5 & I thought the latter part of the verse was quite defeatist & contrary to the overall Grace message of how we’re blessed & highly favoured & can do All things through Christ Who strengths us… for us now to just be “content with those things we have.” So I looked up the Greek (in Strong’s Concordance) & the ONE word uses for “such things as ye have,” was “pareimi”… & literally, contextually & grammatically (not just - “this is how it’s used”) it says, “I Am near / have arrived!” Which means, at the end of the day of organised religion, we have Christ living on the inside of us, a whisper’s breath away from comfort, council & love in the flesh. 😍 So yeah, I’m always digging & looking deeper, cos He doesn’t just speak to me through the Bible, but even music, movies & people, if I pay attention to my inner witness, Christ in us, the Hope of glory (which is what I hear every time I hear Hi REN’s triumphant dialogue at the end) 😊. Health, to all your flesh Sister 🙏🤍🙏

I really appreciate your encouragement on that, this fanbase continues to amaze me. There have only been a few people comment on any of the videos where I’ve had to do that a little bit who were complaining, everyone else has either been asking out of genuine curiosity, and are then very receptive to my explanation that it’s a personal decision I made for my own social media accounts several years ago, OR they’ve been blowing me away with kindness, like you did.💕 So very glad to have you here!

"Fee-fi-fo-fum" is the first line of a historical quatrain (or sometimes couplet) famous for its use in the classic English fairy tale "Jack and the Beanstalk". The poem, as given in Joseph Jacobs' 1890 rendition, is as follows: Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman, Be he alive, or be he dead I'll grind his bones to make my bread It was also used by Shakespeare in King Lear.
