It is. Many of his videos are live sound recordings, also single continuous shot.

Ren has Lime Disease, he is releasing this project whilst he has just flown out to Canada for treatment over the next 6-12 months, Ren was Misdiagnosed with Bipolar disorder for a long time and was in constant pain. Rens illness not only has affected him physically but has also damaged parts of his brain and has suffered with psychosis of hearing sounds that were not real and even having a conversation with a person that was not there (he only knew this when the stranger knew his name even though he was a stranger). Ren needs the support of communities like this to spread his music and if you continue to explore his music you will appreciate just how special this man’s talent is. Thank you for checking him out and I hope to tune in for the next Ren reaction

@@rmeredithm not misdiagnosed with Lyme...the mast cell activation disease is likely because his lyme disease went unchecked for SO LONG that his system is now unable to fight off a lot of environmental toxins. MCAS is a common comorbidity with Lyme.

@@ratmackay yeah, I’m actually a clinical pharmacist and pretty familiar with both. Lol. I just used HIS words. He said he was misdiagnosed, though I definitely think there’s a possibility that the infection could have triggered MCAS.

the misdiagnosed Lyme part of his recent update refers to his Lyme that was misdiagnosed for half a decade not that he feels he has been misdiagnosed with it...unless he has posted a newer update than yesterday that states something different.

This was a live one take which he is famous for. He is Welsh and as he said in the video he was hospitalized at 17 and struggled to get better. After a misdiagnosis he is getting treament in Canada. His topics are broad but he does a lot of mental health things but all his songs have a theme and purpose. Before this I would say his most famous work was a trilogy of Jenny's tale, screeches tale, and violet's tale in that order cause even though they are different songs it tells a story which was based on a real story in the UK I recommend if you do it do the jenny and screeche full it will have all three in one video it's best not to space them for a true emotional journey cause details from previous go into the next. I hope you guys enjoy ren's other stuff and thank you for doing a suggestion of mine and I'm sure many others.

I remember when he went viral with his performance of Man's World. That was over 10 years ago. When that happened it must have triggered something. It must have been overwhelming.

@@alvajjoe I don't think that was it. As I understand it, he contracted Lyme Disease but it was misdiagnosed and he was given all kinds of medications for all kinds of other stuff that all came with different side effects. No wonder it messed him up chemically and mentally, because none of it was treating the actual problem and giving him numerous other problems. He's currently in Canada receiving another treatment and he said in a recent live stream with fans after the release of this video that he's actually doing really well now, he's happy, he's creating and he's feeling much better. He was actually signed to Sony back then, but he got increasingly sick and didn't have the strength to work, so Sony dropped him. I think they're going to be regretting that decision pretty soon, if they're not already. It might be a blessing in disguise, because I don't think he could have created and released the work he's been producing with a label like that dictating his style and content.

Exactly....you hit all my points. However, you missed the live version of "How To Be Me", currently my favorite. Oh, I'm 68 so this brilliant young man reaches over and past generational boundaries, he hits us in our hearts and souls, no matter your age. A brilliant storyteller and performer. Definitely agree. Can be considered same style, acoustic guitar and rapping (singing as well), single take videos (3 of them) but this time less personal, more storytelling (amazing), make sure that you do the full version, or if you use single videos, it must be in the correct order (Jenny, Screech, Violet). continuous narrative.

More Ren please. You have a lot to discover. I have been watching Ren busking in Brighton for seven years and it’s great to see everyone else recognising his genius at last!

You can tell that Ren cares about the acoustics of the room. It was definitely a factor in the sound when he finally stands up and sings towards the end. In Ren's other videos you can see him picking out other filming locations because of the combination of visuals and interesting acoustics -I remember one video set in a stone stairwell with interesting acoustics, too. -As a long-time busker, he'd definitely be used to finding a "good spot" with good acoustics and plenty of foot traffic. I think that there's approximately ZERO in this video that happened accidentally; there's insane amounts of intentionality and planning in this video, for sure.

Yes Ren is another one from the UK. Brighton, England. Glad he's finally getting recognition with this masterpiece.

Ren is the truth. Performs live in his videos too. Would love it if you do more from his catalogue. Personally i believe you will love Ren - Money Game. 💯

I've watched a lot reaction videos for "Hi Ren" and have to say you two have provided the most insightful interpretation I've heard to date. Really great job. 👏👏👏👏 Ren grew up in Wales, New Brighton I believe. Ren has Lyme disease, but was said misdiagnosed for years a being bipolar. That misdiagnosis and many unnecessary medications sadly left his with brain injury and living in chronic pain. He's now in Canada getting treatment for it.

The look on your faces when Ren told his story was respectful! I specifically look for that cause it was profound for me when I saw it. Great reaction!

I spoke with Sam, the director in another comments section. The *audio* is all recorded live. The *video* , however, was done in two takes, the beginning, with three cameras, and the ending with a hand-held one. I used to think it was one-take as well, until I spoke to Sam. Amazing job either way! 🤘

By now, I've seen at least 100 reactions to this song. THIS is my favorite. I've sort of come up with 30 to 40 parts that I think are exciting and mind opening. Great reaction to this piece of art! You are both correct in your description of this. Recording this live and acting it out live, while playiing the guitar (keeping up with the changing pace and rifts) and timing the flickering of the lights and the emotion and body mannerisms and facial expresions, not to touch on they lyrics, his flow, his magical singing voice, etc. He masters all of it and pulls you into his world so you can get a glimpse at what this is like for someone who goes through this on a daily basis. Plus we can all put our own twist on it and apply the inner struggle we all have and the good vs evil scheme to it as well. Hmm, I just subbed (liked the reaction - and saw you created a playlist already for Ren :) ) and checked your previous videos, so mostly rap videos. Then go ahead with his current album Sick Boi, Genesis, Hunger, What You Want (4 released so far, he will be releasing 12 more in the coming months) and Power (a single from ~6 months ago). From his older rap stuff, I like Life is Funny. Also many eclectic pieces where he drops in an excellent rapping verse like Blind Eyed (his first big hit) or Ocean.

I've read so much about Ren, and I haven't read anything that says he has multiple personality disorder. He was bitten by a tick, then misdiagnosed for ten years and fed anti- psychotic drugs. Instead if Lyme disease.

They don’t listen, they think they know before even listening to the fucken song

We all have an inner dialogue with ourselves. The fact that, for Ren the dialogue is amplified and acute doesn't make it a multiple personality disorder. "Schizophrenia" is a useless term because it grossly exaggerates the misconception that psychosis just boils down to a simple split personality. Our understanding now goes way beyond that. We could just learn, enjoy and be amazed at this man's art without doing hom the disservice of a pop psychological dissection in the comments section. Because what he says, says much about us as it does himself. So many of us are our own worst critics. So many of us put ourselves down and struggle against that inner voice of failure and blame. Ren is showing us that there is a better way to navigate these waters. Through his talent, his art and his vision.

The yodel- like tune was recognition of his duality. Actually unresolved like the hanging note in the last line. This was a song of acceptance of vulnerability. Finding the right balance is the definition of our being human beings.

This the one channel I dont need to watch to know if I wanna like the video, I'd i click it I like immediately, by far one of my favorite channels, sometimes if Ive only got time to watch lie one vid and have to choose between like Nolifeshaq Mrlobyd or anyone else I still find myself wanting to choose watching this channel

Clearly live, and maybe one take too? Some artists are doing one take live covers of their songs, but it's certainly not the norm and they tend to do it in a studio. So this is kind of outstanding to do it for that long a song in a room that just has really good acoustics. It's a captivating performance and I'm glad he is getting wide spread exposure on this.

I love how the ligjts flicker when hes unstable or when the dark is taking control and when he had doubts and when hes in control the ligjts dont flicker but when he fully takes control the lights flicker still because hes learned to dance between the 2 worlds while being in control
