Can we just appreciate that Ren dropped this track as we as a nation are about to 'crown' our new King for real. A lot of people in the UK do not approve of the monarchy and wish there was a revolution like the French! So I *think* there's an undercurrent of applying the Animal Farm uprising to this week's Coronation celebrations... I think it speaks volumes about how well Read Knox is. We all say that for Ren, for actually writing the music, but Knox is just another musical genius. Doesn't miss a single thing.

I am about to be 67 years old, and this is the most exciting new talent to come forth in a long time. Ren is the creator of a new music/rap genre, and it has the power to hunt down your soul and impact you in unexpected ways. As a former mental health professional, I see his music expressing his story, which is a particularly troubling variation on the lives of so many people who struggle with mental health issues. His music hurts me in a way that makes me grow. I can't say that about anyone else in the current music scene. Thanks for sharing this fire with us all.

I'm just about to turn 70. I hate rap with a passion. I never understood it at all. My 45 year old son found Ren and showed me his music and my life turned upsidedown. I can't listen to his music without crying. It moves my soul. It's cathartic and painful and joyous and profound all at the same time. Ren is singing our life song. Ren has changed our lives.

In addition to the "Animal Farm" references, I think he's also touched on the character "Alex" from "A Clockwork Orange" with the white suit and walking stick.

Your breakdown of this track is a beautiful thing Knox. You instantly saw the Animal Farm. Its so refreshing watching someone who appreciates the many layers involved.

Ren is again gonna fall in love with Knox's reaction for the fact that Knox has picked up on the subtleties. ❤

The ability to appreciate real talent is ageless, if it’s good then you like it whether you’re 25 or 75. my wife’s family are all musicians, artists etc and through them I’ve met some of the coolest 70+ year olds, scrap that, coolest people I’ve ever met. Hey Knox I have lyme disease as well as deal with psychosis much like Ren. I think that as someone with an illness like that. 1 take makes sense because you wouldn't have the energy to spend on a million takes for one video I think Ren shoots the video in one take to save energy while at the same time giving it his all cause he knows his body can only handle so much. So it's also amazing as someone currently ill to see this level of energy management if you will from someone who is also ill. Very inspiring stuff he's doing.

The dogs playing poker refers back to the famous paintings, which I think pre-dated Orwell by quite some time, but was later used as a frame of reference for Orwell too.

You didn't know animal farm? Take the famous old film (1954). You will understand all within 1 hour and see mighty pictures. It's s sad movie. Orwell was first a communist, then against communism. His message was: communism doesn't work. (That's why the book animal farm is banned in Russia today.) English is not my first language too, but i love reading lyrics so rap isn't a big problem. But i can't find much content, neither in the text nor in Ren's video. 😣 Animal farm is a book against communism and for (social) capitalism. So what is Ren talking about? What's wrong with him, there is no communism in the UK music business. We Europeans do have Internet since at least 1993, everyone is free to sell own songs. We are free! Of course, if you don't have rich friends with big connections you won't earn millions. But that's the fate of all artists, there is no warrenty to become rich. Van Gogh, Toulouse Lautrec, Gaugin, Bach, Mozart, they all died poor. Art is about deep passion, not about money. Design is about money. Art and design are two VERY different things. Like fame and wealth are very different things. Nowadays artists have the best conditions. No need for drama or beeing a crybaby. It's quite respectless to compare the huge problems of communism, (all the dead people), by taking animal farm for a methapher in music business. Ren should stop that, imho. And if all the animals are accidental in this video, if it's not about animal farm: I can't see any sense. 🤷 I'm a victim of violence and i prefer animals. Mostly they are nice. They are not as cruel & greedy as humans can be.

I'll say I was also struck by Ren's costume in this video - he said once that Stanley Kubrick has been a major source of inspiration for him, and in Animal Flow his white and black with a cane was reminiscent of Clockwork Orange (which was also a social satire looking at behavioral psychology). Layers upon layers ...

After Ren himself gave you the seal of approval reacting to one of your reactions and saying everything you said was bang on, you've become the first person I look for when he drops a new song, I knew your reaction to Animal Flow was gonna be good. As a wannabe filmmaker, I always notice and am immensely impressed with long takes, especially unbroken for the duration of the whole song. I never read Animal Farm so I missed out on a portion of symbolism, so this was cool, nicely done, you get Ren :) And on that note.... collab when? ;)

I'm not a rap guy but I could listen to ren all day, his songs are a breathe of fresh air, in a genre thats become imo stale and repeatative . I couldn't stop my head from bobbin and weavin during this song. So good! And then there's the genius of his lyrics and story telling. So clever, while still hitting the mark with the vibe of the song. In my selfishness I'd love to hear some rock stuff again from ren. Either way if he stays in the rap genre I'd still listen. It would be a crime not to take his music and smash it into your ears. I think for me personally I've always enjoyed artists that have a different sound, both vocally and musically. And on top of it all the struggles he's head and the man he's become hes a great role model. I'm sure he's not perfect but who is?
