What an absolute thrill to get instruction from The Ms. Fleming but how intimidating it must be although she is so gracious in her instruction.

Einfach fabelhaft die gespielte Szene von Don Giovanni. Man stelle sich eine Elisabeth Schwarzkopf vor, so was wäre für sie unmöglich gewesen. Da hat sich doch was getan beim Coaching für den Sänger.

The 2nd soprano has tension issues in her lower register. She’s sitting on cords instead of singing over them. She needs to change teachers.

Omg-stop picking on the accompanist! The class is supposed to be for the singer, not the pianist. The singer is standing there just waiting to do what he was asked to do well before this side lesson for the pianist. Leave the accompanying master class to a collaborative pianist instructor.

Omg-stop writing rubbish! The accompaniment can have so much effect on the singer and it is just right to involve the accompanist, especially when the accompanist is a student, too. They are all learning.

A LOT of vocal accompanists do not play the correct markings or tempos of the composer, and they are not helping the singer.

Ms. Fleming defined what she was doing, supported on the singer's introduction that they (singer and accompanist) were collaborators, and the accompanist seemed quite pleased to be included and showed that appreciation at the end. Later, Ms. Fleming explains that she is choosing to work on a variety of things for the benefit of those watching as well, not only the performing musicians. As a beginning pianist, I really appreciated her points to the accompanist. Some master classes include some attention to the accompanist--not all--but some. No right or wrong here.
