When he went to Canada and started his treatments over a year ago he mentioned that he loved Canada because they had a marijuana dispensary on every corner and great selections. I know he is not allowed to smoke during his days doing his medical IV treatments which he is on 5 days of the week. On his off days or when he goes home to take breaks I'm sure there is plenty of that. No alcohol because that would kill him and after his friend Joe died he hasn't touched a drop. I assume like every teen he experimented with drugs and maybe more of some here and there. That I'm not sure on but I'm pretty sure because of his health he stays away from all that other stuff. Mary Jane very likely. He likely is teasing and being cheeky about the lack of rubbers, a big box of rubbers was actually spotted on his dresser in one of the live streams or a screen shot of him. So he doesn't want little Ren's running around or anything to mess up his health. Samuel Perry-Falvey is his award winning videographer and one of Ren's best friend. He does most of his music videos. They have been friends since they were young teens. Samuel was driving in "Power". When you see his Money Game 3 masterpiece you will see why that won an award for the camera work. Nominated for many more awards. Ren and Sam won Best music video, best director at the International music awards.

Thank you! That's exactly the kind of information I was looking for! I don't suppose you would know... But I actually did money game number one. Unfortunately, I was using new equipment and my settings weren't right and there was no sound, but it was one of the best videos I had ever recorded, because I had so much to say about the second verse. And three, and if some of his political stances have shifted or changed since then. We're definitely going to cover all three of them on the podcast because I think they're going to inspire a lot of conversation. Especially because two of us are from Texas, and we see and deal with illegal immigration on a regular basis.

Samuel is actually a few years younger than Ren. Samuel started sixth form in 2012 at St Brendan's Sixth Form College in Bristol, when Ren was 22. In the UK education system, sixth form starts at 16. According to Samuel, he and Ren met at camp when Samuel was about 16-17. If it was the same year that Samuel filmed Ren performing "Ain't No Sunshine" at Unicorn voice camp, then it was summer 2013, and Ren was 23. The first narrative video they shot together was "Children of the Moon" in December 2015, the year that Samuel started university at Ravensbourne, a digital media and design university in London.

Since Joe died, he has not drank alcohol and I believe he quit weed when he moved to Canada for treatments, other than maybe an occasional one here and there. He got signed by Sony and was recording music for an album but eventually got so sick he wasn’t able to finish it. If it wasn’t for the Lyme disease, he prob would’ve been a pop star but instead we got the tortured soul who came out the other side, all documented in his music I sent a link on a former video timestamped to him discussing getting sick and having his career fall away in an interview with Knox Hill He discusses his illness in even more depth in an interview he did after sick boi was released where he really bares all about what he went through kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3V9qdWRdb2Wh6w.htmlsi=CuwTb8F6vASG76nf

Ren has talked about drug use as a teen (before he got sick). If I have the timeline right he started to show symptoms around 17 but it didn't get really bad until he was about 19/20. He was properly diagnosed with Lyme when he was about 26/27 and I believe the stem cell was when he was 28 (ish). The next few years were when he was with the amazing band The Big Push. Ren came to Canada late 2022 and the video Hi Ren was released. 2023 was the year it all blew up for him and now here we are. I may be off a bit here and there but that seems to be the approximate timeline.

Here's an outline of the first few years of his illness based on his renmakesmusic social media posts (2011-), trickthefox social media posts (2012-), mevsmeblog (2013-), and archived "13xkiw", "boywhocanteat", and "62ruzv7w" GoFundMe campaigns (2012-). He got sick in summer 2009. The symptoms were like a flu combined with a hangover. He felt like he lost most of his personality. At some point in the early stages, he developed an autoimmune disorder. The initial diagnosis was bipolar disorder in 2010. By 2011 it was ME/CFS, without a known cause or treatment. By 2012 it was thought to be a parasitic infection. By summer 2012, the symptoms got bad enough that he started breaking down on stage. In August 2012, his manager dropped him as a client, and he moved from Bath back to his family home in Wales. By spring 2013, he'd recovered enough to move to Brighton. He started getting involved with ME/CFS forums and health blogging on mevsmeblog on Facebook. He tried fad therapies that seemed reasonable (e.g. bone broth diet, GAPS diet, Lightning Process, infrared saunas, OTC supplements), but each time his immune system was triggered it got worse and lasted longer. By early 2015, he was in the worst shape yet. He tried an FMT (fecal matter transplant) procedure in spring 2015, but it made him worse. He had to move back to his family home in Wales that summer, and went through psychosis and nearly died. In summer 2015, his ME/CFS doctor in Wales started him on an experimental treatment of low-dose naltrexone (LDN). It helped to stabilise his immune system. In fall 2015, he moved back to Brighton, finished the album "Freckled Angels", and shot the videos for "It's Alright", "Crutch", and "Children of the Moon". He still had pain and muscle spasms from neuropathy and had to stay on a restricted diet. Random things like perfume could still trigger an autoimmune response that would wipe him out for a week. In November 2015, tests found markers for Lyme disease in his body. The Lyme disease diagnosis led to stem cell treatments in 2016 and 2017, intended to reboot his immune system. The treatments helped but didn't completely cure him or heal the neuropathy and organ damage. He felt like he was only at 50%, but it was good enough to shift his focus back to his music career.

He wrote a song called "Crutch" from before diagnosis (not sure when it was filmed in the timeline) it's fantastic. He says it's his fears about relationships. I would say it's my favourite but I say that about a lot of his songs. He treatment is ongoing but it's unlikely he'll every be 100%.
