Removing Tool Box Drawers - Snap On, MBC and Others

It's taken me a while to figure this out but after I was asked the question I figured I'd figure it out and do a "How To" video on how you can form a tool to remove drawers from vintage Snap On, MBC and many other tool boxes. #snapon #mbc #toolbox #drawerslides #howto #tools

What worked for me for removing friction slides was using two large 20inch zip ties . Open the drawer half way before it catches the latch and feed those zip ties through on both sides and pull out the cabinet.

Now that's innovative thinking! I had never considered using zip ties but it sounds like a great method.

i remember the first time i tried to get the drawers out. i had the wise idea to use motorcycle chain lube on the drawer slides BIG BIG BIG MISTAKE i have cleaned them over and over and still sticky have used carb cleaner, brake cleaner, asitone , someone said start using something like PB Blaster and it would dilute the chain lube and help it. the drawers well couldn't hardly slide them out or in after the chain lube dried.

You're not alone. I've seen some with old axle grease on them. The Craftsman box I recently restored seemed to have Never Seize on the slides. That didn't seem to work too well either.
