Putting the links back in, and bolting it back onto the frame is the fun part. The nuts in the frame that hold the center bushings are pinch bolts. They have been known to just spin when trying to tighten. There is access and room for nuts that fit the bolts. Once you get them started, a fat screw driver, or a piece of steel wedged between the walls of the frame, and the nut to keep it from spinning works fine. These have to be tightened until the ears of the bushing caps make contact with the frame.

Thanks for that comment, I've got my swaybar bolts and links all loosely started, but couldn't fit a socket in at the correct angle to catch the bolt head.

Thanks for the informative video. I purchased Energy Suspension 3.5136R and am preparing to do this job. 3.5136G if you want black bushings.

Yep. I have a 97 2 door Tahoe. Heard some clanking noises whenever I hit a bump. I inspected and saw the link on my driver side had a lot of play. Great video!

I’m doing a front end rebuild on my 90 k1500. I was able to get at everything except the lower control arms. Being that they are not horrible do you think I can manage getting it aligned with everything else minus the bushings on the lower control arm?

We ended up doing the lower control arm bushings. Took them to a shop and had them done. I think it’s a good idea to do them but as long as they are not torn or cracking, you are probably fine leaving them.

You don’t need to replace the bushings unless there damaged correct?

@Lht5dy In general, if the bushings are in good shape you don’t need to replace them

I have a 94 with a 4' lift are the sway bars the same as a stock unit?

@Todd Byrnes Not sure about the sway bars with a lift. I assume the links would be longer?

Good video on removing the link but that's the easy part why didn't you show the install or did you have to take it to a front end shop.

Huh, my 96’ Chevy C1500 doesn’t have that plate on the bottom of the end link.. I don’t need to remove sway bar..

    That's because this is a 4wd... not a 2wd like you have.

Easier putting the nut on topside instead of installing the original way works the same but next time it will be easier to replace

I prefer to cuss & grunt for 2 hours, trying to install new end links without removing bar mounts. Yeah. I’m resuming tomorrow and removing those mounts first b4 I try lining the new links up and in. Why do I always do this?!🤦🏻‍♂️

Went much smoother and quicker the next day. I pulled off the bar bushings and everything went a lot easier. But then I had to make it difficult all over again because I like to put them in up through instead of dropping the pin down because it’s impossible to get the bushing and washer and nut on at the end because there’s no room with one finger. And when it was all done relatively quickly, I thought maybe I should spend the next two hours reinstalling it the way it shows in videos by dropping the pin downward, because I was afraid that the end of the pin would rub on the upper control arm. Then I looked at my other OBS truck, and noticed that I put them in upside down on that truck and nothing is rubbing. So after kicking and screaming for two hours after I already finished it, I decided to go back to the original way, which was up through the bottom. Absolutely destroying the nylon washer inside the nut. Long story longer, it’s back on the road. 🤦🏻‍♂️
