Don’t need to wreck them by drilling out! They are held in with single hex screws with a tiny spot weld to keep from unscrewing. This is cracked off easily with a hex bar. First thing I did when I got mine. Also the dB killers are so rudimentary that’s their removal makes little difference to a non cat race system.

sounds much better, but could you measure the db-change or at least the db-level after removal? It is possible to put the "db-eater" 😊 back to restore the legal sound?

Good question Doc! I’ll record the DB level tomorrow. And yes, you could put the db killers back in if you want.

Two things that would concern me is, the bike is designed with the DB killers in place and the fuelling is set to match, and if you were to get any engine issues the warranty could be void. I just ordered the full Akra system for mine as it’s a dealer fit and comes with a remap and keeps the warranty in place.

I understand. But when you look at the size and shape of those DB killers, one starts wondering if they really could make a difference. They’re so small and so thin, and look nothing like other DB killers. Wouldn’t you agree?

@@fabrizioubertibona8962 Hi, yes but if they make a difference to the sound then they make a difference to the back pressure, I just don’t want you to get caught out, my Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 diesel just spun it main bearings and Jeep are trying their hardest not to pay for the warranty, even accusing me of using the wrong oil when I’ve been in the motor trade for 36 years and bought the exact spec oil even down to the Jeep grade number, Ducati will be no different ☹️ It does sound better and nice though my friend 😉

I dont have the db killers on my oem akrapovic on v4s. Nothing to remove and still sound auful.

The one shown is the aftermarket Akra Race exhaust. And yes, it’s not a full exhaust, it’s 2/3 (no full system available)

What kind of grips are those?

Dude, they are screwed in from inside the baffle, they are spot welded to the baffle, just done mine easily, no drilling and the baffles slide right out to refit for a track day.

@@fabrizioubertibona8962 So were mine, that's just so they don't undo thru vibration as you can't use a threadloc, you can 'crack' the weld just undo with a stubby wrench, mine undid(?) nicely, the baffles might need cracking too as the bolt spot weld welds the baffle slightly.

No need to drill Allen key from inside.

A pain in the ass are riders who remove the db eater and cause more and more closed roads, sick citizens and harsh crackdowns from police and governments for all the other riders 🤦‍♂️🙄

@@fabrizioubertibona8962 In France they now have 'sound cameras' with a fine in the post or if mobile, pulled over and fines by the Police. This is just in trials at the moment but it's in place due to the number of complaints received from residents about loud bikes and cars. It's also in place in other European countries, that's what he's talking about.

THe real enemy of load motorcycles is the Harley crowd that runs strait pipes, just irresponsible and is the cause for all the new restrictions that ruins it for the rest of motorcycle owners. It is unfortunate that a group of irresponsible bone heads put us into the hands of regulators.
