    I agree with everything Sue said as i have done a couple of trackdays on my much older Multistrada. Turn up after a long ride there, take off all the panniers etc to set up camping kit then stiffen up the suspension and drop the tyre pressures but i use normal touring road tyres not super sticky stuff. Its a laugh on the bike and capable of more than i can throw at it as Ms Perkins showed honking around at the pointy end of Fast group as i can only manage Inters on shorter tracks. Good stuff Chris and good to see you smiling again and clearly enjoying things

Great riding, so much fun to watch you passing the superbikes! I really hope you'll get to test a M1000XR on a track in the not so distant future!

    Wonder if he went INSIDE the settings and added "firmness" to the rear shock race settings--and/or preload? I also hear you can disconnect the rear shock--and have dealer adjust rebound firmer independent of compression--for example. I feel mine could use that adjustment as well. Rear "oscillates" over bumpy corners with some pace.

    Big ADVs are pretty incredible and this one is clearly top of the heap for this kind of thing. Great riding Chris, and thanks for sharing the great story. I can only imagine how many trackday riders queued up behind that thing expecting to dispatch it on corner exit, only to see a big black stripe on the pavement and a machine clearing off into the distance. I'd bet the torque on this thing would keep most track bikes honest up to a buck fifty, plus or minus. Edit after a second watch - the corner entry and mid-corner shenanigans were tops, as well!

It'll be a garage queen doing less than 2k miles a year 🤣 The M1000XR will be a big seller, just like the M1000R/RR have been, so Ducati need to just do it & stick the proper Panigale V4 engine in it...

    @@r32gtr68 Same. I test rode a Multi then a XR and the XR won me over. I didn't test ride a Pikes just because it's absurd what Ducati is currently asking for those bikes $$$. I have it decatted and tuned with some M series options and it's one of the fastest bikes I've ridden in the canyons. It just slices everything up with such little effort. I can't imagine how fast the 200+hp version with sportier suspension is gonna be.

    The bike is comparable to the standard S1000 as it makes around the same wheel hp. The only thing the multi is very noticeably better at is high speed cruising and overall stability and comfort in a touring setting. The multi is an amazing bike but the pricing is absurd and borderline unwarranted.

  • @ThaSideWeed

    @ThaSideWeed

    11 ай бұрын

    @@hanhien1783 I own the old xr. The new one has a noticeably better chasis, along with the sitting position being much more friendly for when you want to push. It's not so good if you r behind is on the larger side. But then again mostly nothing is. The multi is also better chasis and handling-wise compared to the old xr out of the box. However its geometry can be altered with a suspension expert and through trial and error to a very decent point. Also both versions of the BMW semi active suspension are underwhelming, and their design choices regarding it are a bit too budget oriented.

    @@jr.6199 For me the wobbling only happens mid corner at a high speed and continues as I accelerate out of the corner. I agree with Chris that this bike will likely benefit from a stiffer rear spring. I've tried all riding modes with variations of Front:Hardest/Rear:Hardest or Front:Softest-Hardes/Rear:Hardest and noticed that I could never get rid of the wobble, just reduce it. I also lowered my front forks (more fork protruding from the triple tree head) by a total of 15mm (measured from the start of the gold fork tube) and noticed more improvement but I figure that the way to truly fix this is a combination of: Stiffer rear spring + stiffer rear damping vs the front + higher rear preload + lowered forks. I'm contemplating contacting Ohlins to see if they sell or plan to offer stiffer spring rates for the Pikes Peak. I previously had a Multi V4S with spoked wheels and this was never an issue so I am genuinely surprised the the sportier variant performs worse.

    I wonder how this would compare to a K6/K7 GSXR750 on super corsa’s…

    I m owning a pikes peak voor 5 months now and 8k km's further. I m a fast track rider (and i know how to setup bikes with suspension) and i want to share some suspension settings with you guys (if you are going to buy this one day) (i m weighing 98kg with full suit/shoes.) (Street riding) Touring: DTC 1 ABS 2 DWC Off (if you use cruisecontrol you need to put this on 1, otherwise traction control will not work) Front / rear supspension on medium Preload 11 DQS on Sport (for trackriding): DTC 1 ABS 1 DWC Off Front / Rear suspension: Harder Preload 12 (to much preload will destroy the rear tyre) (you can up max to 13 or 14 if you want it more on the nose, but rear feel will lack) DQS On I do not comply with 44teeth about the brakes. the front brakes are terrible. to much movement in lever until it brakes (bleeded it 3 times/changed fluid to brembo lcf) and it will never be on point. I changed to the Brembo RCS19 brake pump with Z04 brembo pads (and changed the discs to Motomaster Racing 5,5mm) and now it s as it should be for such a expensive bike. To two things that are really terrible is the brakes as i said and you can not clutch wheelie the bike due a strange radar/clutch connector that soon as you touch the clutch for pull in it engages the Wheelie control (even when it is on OFF). I m trying to work with ducati for a solution, but they are arrogant and do not react or help the customer out. Rest of the bike is very good.

    Faster than an S1000XR around a track? I'd love to see a race!

    I think the XR is much faster on track, it's more orientated to sport rather than adventure,unlike the v4 multi,or the old 1200 multi at that

    @@TheCvac yeah that’s what I was thinking. Wait until the M1000XR comes out. Should be lethal around a track

    I've had both. Pretty evenly matched on the track. On the street the Pikes Peak is the better bike. More torque, more comfortable seat, and you can't beet the Ohlins.
