You are very fortunate to have a good cobbler near you. I seem to have to look overseas for my pairs.

Does it require re-stitching after the toe taps are put in? Or does your cobbler avoid cutting the stitching as he removes the leather for flush installation?

Do JR soles breath as well as non-oakbark tanned lesser soles? I am thinking of converting my allen Edmonds higgins mills to JR leather from Dainite (fairly worn at this stage)

Is it possible to put on and take off toe plates/taps "over and over again?" I'm thinking of having some on my skate boots but for outdoor use, not indoor.

Does the toe tap help with grip or traction?

Jepanic not really no! It mainly helps with preventing the toe from wearing down😄

So it looks like Sunny works near Baltimore? I'm a DC native myself. I didn't realize you were from the area. Anyway thanks for introducing me to grant stone boots. I grabbed a pair of chromexcel diesel boots and the edward honey glazed shells. They're great. I may have to take them to Sunny when it's time to re-sole.

Oh, I only just sent in my boot for metal toe plate and vibram half sole... kinda worrying about the issue you mentioned now, especially the half sole I m going for, they actually cut off about 1mm leather so the vibram lay closer to the OG height

aerosurferlv I see, I was bought by the idea being living in a humid city, and having to a lot of walking during work, half sole would extend the Life spend of those soles. let’s hope my clobber will do a nice job, so I don’t regret cutting into my JR sole.
