removing plugs from a 55 gallon barrel “ WITHOUT” a bung wrench
If you don’t have a bung wrench and you’re trying to remove the plug, you can remove it with tools you probably already have. Now if you need to remove these often the correct ranch would be pretty handy.

THANK YOU!!! I just purchased a couple of 55 gallon barrels for my hydroponic barrels. When they were delivered I couldn't get the plugs off. I don't own a bung wrench. Searched you tube and there you were. SO EASY and helpful!! thanks again pat
Stick the bent end of a pry bar 1-1/2" to 1-3/4 wide into the bung, and using the body of the bar for leverage, spin right out. Only one hand required. You can be in front of both tabs, behind both tabs, in front of one, behind the other, it doesn't matter. You only need it to contact one tab, and the other edge will brace against the bung. A Stanley Wonder Bar works wonderfully.
LOVE IT!! I went to wash my 55-Barrel(never been used). I just moved and couldn't find the bung.
