Removing flower spikes from Nepenthes truncata "Titan"
It's time to repot our massive breeder Nepenthes "Titan". Unfortunately, she won't stop flowering, and that makes repotting too dangerous. We make the tough call to remove her new flowers before they get too big.
We've got several offspring from "Titan", including pure horticultural N. truncata, available on our website: www.predatoryplants.com/In-Hou...

Will you guys be documenting the repotting procedure of this giant? Please say yes. :D

We've talked about it. It's going to be a really long process, so maybe a time-lapse or something like that.

Wow, this is so cool! I just found this video, I just ordered a couple of seedlings from “Titan” and her beau “Tyrant” a few days ago. I hope mine will grow up and look as beautiful!
Wow.... How old it? 20 years? 50 years?
Man that plant is HUGE! Very impressive!
Cool, I repotted my large Truncata a year ago and it made big difference. It was growing in 6” pot and the plant was too big and it was tipping over.
how old is this giant ? damn! amazing
Recently had to do the same to an Aristolochioides X Ventricosa hybrid of mine, but I cut it right next to the stem and now, I'm getting another growth point from where the flower was!
Very hard choice. I can see that. But yes it's best for the plant in the long run. Agree with the other comment. Would love to see a video of the repot for such a large plant. Would be great for those of us that have large mature neptneths as a how to. I look forward to other videos.
WOW I never thought that Titan would be that big this is the first time I've seen it and it's huge that's crazy

I like nepenthes
Female magnificent truncata flower spikes removed. OUCH OUCH OUCH. Here I am trying to get *one* truncata to grow from a TC purchase to...
Is it always a good idea to cut off flower spikes on nepenthes before repotting? We are in spring in Australia and mine has a flower spike, but definitely needs to be repotted. I am very new to carnivorous plants and want to make sure I do this right. I have successfully propagated one of the basal shoots while the other unfortunately died, that was hard enough to endure!
How old is Titan?
you have nepenthes villosa??
I'm confused where to stare at...to the plant or to Josh..his handsome..

is it highland or lowland?
"sanitized" is more appropriate than "sterilized"

THANK YOU!!!! I've been watching these videos and whenever they say that I get triggered. A tool is not sterilized if you run it through a burner and then immediately dunk it in random, non-sterilized water (as they do), or touch the blade with their hand (as I've seen them do).
you have nepenthes truncata?
I’ve heard and read that Truncata is predominantly lowland but I’ve heard that there are highland varieties of it, is this true?

I think most of those are refering to nepenthes Robcantleyi,it was tought to be a highland variety of N. Truncata untill recently
could you root the flower spikes?

Nope.

did anyone try it? I guess it's not a sustainable way to create more individuals by cutting off the flower spikes for rooting...

@@kunlin579 you need a dormant bud at an internode to get a new plant
