Your video is amazingly thorough, and you make it look so simple! We have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with a Triad alarm system that has given us nothing but grief since 2005 when we bought it....now we cant even turn on the van, my husband doesn't think it is the car alarm he thinks it the steering column is frozen. But the alarm system has been crazier than usual and remains red, no beeping action or anything....On my next day off if I can convince him we will attempt your video. Thanks again!

I follow your video guide and I successfully remove the Python alarm from my 1998 Toyota Camry. I am not a car savvy guy, but with your clear guidance, I am able to get rid of this useless and annoying alarm that always causes my battery and starting problem.

Dana, If this s he factory alarm, then there are two ways to disarm it. one is with the remote attached to your keychain that unlocks the doors. simply hit unlock and it will stop. But it sounds like you dont have the remote with you. so what you want to do is stick your key in the drivers door lock. turn it to the left or right..that will disarm the alarm

That's exactly right these systems cause more trouble for owners than they save in stolen cars.

Thanks, I will be doing this tomorrow on a 96 Altima. It sat for awhile and the battery died, tripping the alarm, and it will not reset. I wasted half the day today trying to reset the dam thing, even buying a new battery. I'd also like to verify that Makita as the best screw gun I've ever owned in thirty years of using screw guns to build and instal cabinetry.

Good job, Paul. Shows why alarms are such a pain and not work putting in at all. After having the same problems with alarms, I went with Ravelco. No false alarms, works EVERY time and has a lifetime guarantee. 5 years and counting. Their testimonials spoke volumes. Keep up the great work helping people solve these irritating problems and remove the useless junk!

I watched this to do a little reverse install of an older Clifford into an older voyager anyway it cleared a few things up 4me but on your final check you didn't check your rear hatch to see if it automatically worked correctly. I noticed because the person that took out an alarm from my voyager b4 I got the car, didn't attach the rear hatch wires or something and I have no clue what he did.

same issue i think..previous owner had wires going from the alarm/horn directly to the battery terminal. after a while i noticed it would start but would sound weak (battery) brought it to auto store for free test. starter good, alternator good, battery good, notice my terminals were coorded so i replaced them and it started up with the lights brighter and everything good. now randomly i go to turn the key and i get no start at all. all power item come on in the dash etc. turn key and no noise or crank...this happened once or twice before and i kept turning the key and it did start. starts when its -20 but not a 15 degrees. the current alarm positve cable has a clamp type thing on it (like a mini jumpercable) i have that electric taped to avoid shorts...help lol

Jimmy, Im not totally sure what you mean?. when you do what I did, the rear hatch has nothing to do with it unless there so some kind of sensor in the door itself. what year is your voyager?. and whats not working?. In the 1996 to 2000 vans came with rear defrost rear wash and wiper. in the interior you had the option of no lights on the liftgate, 1 flood light or the duel lights. if any of that isnt working The first place you should check is your HVAC controls. your wiper controls are on there

Hi there, got a question here. My battery flated couple of days ago, yesterday when I jump started it, the alarm was suddently on. I have only one key (not the remote) and I unlock the door, jump into the car, turn the car key to ignition and siren goes on and i couldnt even start my car. HELP!

  • @905speedgta
    @905speedgta11 жыл бұрын

sounds like its not disarming. do u have the remote still?.. if not put the key in the drivers door with the door closed. Lock the door with the key. then unlock it again.. These cars have something called a central locking system. a system that has sensors on each door lock cylinder and you can unlock and lock all doors from that spot.. following what I said above manually disarms the factory alarm. If this doesnt work you might have a few other problems.. try that and let me know

I know this is an old video but, like he said (in so many words), not all alarms are created equal. I'd like to add, too, that not all '98 to 2000 models got a Viper alarm. So, in case you're Dodge Caravan is like mine (a 1999 model I named "Frankenvan" a looong time ago bc nothing on this van has been normal and I'm the only owner it's ever known), you might have a K-9 5 Classic car alarm with no siren (some have the siren; mine does not). For mine, I unplugged the wires from the brain and removed the brain. The van starts now and can be driven (it shifts, goes backwards and forwards, stops, and the power windows work). *HOWEVER* -- and that is a MAJOR *HOWEVER*, the following IMPORTANT parts DO *NOT* work: the ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, ALL of the LIGHTS, including BLINKERS and BRAKE LIGHTS, the HORN, and although relatively minor, the power locks (that list might not be exhaustive; there may be other stuff not working that I didn't think to test). And I don't have those last two clusters of wires that he plugged back in. ALL of the wires for that stuff need to be located along with the relays, but my patience runs short in 100+ degree heat and extreme humidity. I have the wiring diagrams for both the Caravan (in my Chilton's manual) and the K-9 alarm (found those online). There are a lot of things I don't mind working on in/on a vehicle, but the electrical stuff ain't one of 'em. So as I type, the space under the steering wheel looks like my van puked a ton of wires. Hope that helps anyone else who has an anomaly of a Chrysler product like my Frankenvan.

Used these instructions on a 1991 Voyager LWB. Removed a Clifford alarm (same as Avital and Viper) and aftermarket daytime running lights (this was a US import into Canada but now that it's over 15 years old it no longer meets CMVSS) which fucked up the electrical, disabled some fans allowiong overheating, and draining the battery (needs a jump from my bmw every time i wanted to drive it until now)

Honey Love hey sorry for the delayed reply. these always happen on the 96' LE or ES models with the Central locking system. the electronic sensor thats located on the locking mechanisms go bad or break apart. causing them to be super sensitive or not work at all. I had a customer with a 96 that when you went to unlock the doors if you moved the key just a pinch fromt he unlock position they would lock and arm the car. I usually stay away from these vans when buying them for myself that have this lock system. your car originally came with a remote on the keychain. so you still have it?

I'm the same user as +shiftoptionk1976 and the avital alarm i mentioned was poorly installed. No starter kill wired in and a lot of other thigs too. The wires were TWISTED together and taped. Makes it easy. Also the DRL install was a crappy relay job. Pulled the relay, didnt do anything else; the relay wiring doesnt affect anything. The headlights work perfectly.

Some of these caravans are actually programmed in the BCM for DRL. when I installed the Auto lamp feature in my 2003 caravan anytime I had the feature on (A) to run automaticly the lights would constantly be on, till i installed the Gentex mirror with the light sensor. they they worked fine. what year caravan is this?

905speedgta Mine is a 1991 and used a DRL module but since it's a US model it didn't come with it and does not presently have it. Van was imported in 1999 and needed DRL until 2007 but after 2007 it can remove it so i did after i bought it. Again i'm the same guy as shiftoptionk1976 except that's my Apple channel and this is my main random-stuff channel. The "DRL" was a simple relaying of the headlights that i just tore out the relay and left the wiring in. I am aware of the BCM-programmed DRL, especially the "Audi Switchback" type that appears from 2005? on many models. Mine, on the other hand, the wires go into a harness leading to the ECU… i'll have to explore. In the meantime i have no DRLs and my headlights and everyrhing else works.

What country are you from? and What do you have to do when you get a imported car from the US? as far as registration goes..are you from canada?

905speedgta I was born in China and currently American, but i study in Canada. Importing a 15+ year old car from anywhere simply involves bringing the car in, have it inspected for contaminants, translate all labels if in a foreign language to English (or French in the provinces that speak it), replace the glass and tires if not DOT approved, aim the headlights, and you're good to go. Bringing in a US car can go two ways: 15+ year old just bring it in, pay for all the stuff, go through an inspection for imperfections and you're good to go. However, under 15 year old US cars need to be brought to a dealer to have DRL installed or programed (many cars come with it already but some don't), the odometer reprogramed to KM or an odometer label (if it lacks one) indicating miles unless it can be switched back and forth, safety labels replaced with Canadian English/French labels and installation of child seat attachment if there isn't any. Basically 15+ year old cars don't fall under the CMVSS while under 15 do. In the US the 15 is replaced with a 25 which is why the only kinds of Nissan GTR you see are either the newest kind, built for the US, or 1989 R32 Skylines, which are due to the import thing. In canada we see the famous R34 skylines.

No the factory alarm is installed into the BCM ( body control module) Memory..if you want to disengage the factory alarm adn do not have the remote the car came with simply put yur key in the door lock and turn it to unlock the door...the caravans of the 1996-2000 3rd generation have something called a " Central Locking system" when equpipped with a factory alarm.. and this will disarm the vehicle so you can run it
