    Great, straight to the job at hand, no cutesy, tootsy, filler talk. He told me when to take it and what size the pup should be, 1/3 size of the mother plant, what size container and the proper planting medium to plant it in. He was confident , quick and most rickeytick. Love it! Five Freaking Stars Baby! *****

    So glad I came across your video. I bought a Bromeliad last year, in bloom and it’s already produced two pups. Glad to know the Mother Plant can still be kept after cutting away old bloom and may even produce more pups. I thought I had to discard it.

    My mother plant is just losing the last of her fuchsia color and has already produced 2 pups but they are small. Glad I saw this vid and didnt try to remove them too soon. I'm hoping she'll give me more pups before she's done. Will the pups always produce the same color flower as the mother plant?

    @@WhiteLiteBarbie Update: The mother an her pups died. I don't think I'll ever buy another Brom again. I transplanted the pups exactly correct and they literally lost all their roots and was pretty much one leaf wrapped around another that would slowly die off. I'm over them. Every time I see them in the store I turn my nose up and walk right past them now LOL

    Hubby bought me a bromeliad for my birthday. I was checking it out since I'd never had one noticed several small brown worms on the soil,they burrowed in the soil when I disturbed them. Took plant out of pot and took all dirt away from roots,dirt was full of worms. Washed the roots clean and reported. Weird !!! Hope it lives it's so pretty.

    you wouldn't believe it but me not knowing much about them, re-potted mine that I got for my birthday last September, in nothing but top soil :O yikes, I know, after reading up on these because I am doing spring re-potting and such. The thing is alive and well AND has many pups! Needless to say after doing some researching and video viewing, I am going to do it the right way this time! Just thought it was so wild how it not only lived, but thrived, in nothing but top soil with the exception of the soil that was in the original container!

    Hi. I have the exact bromeliad as you. But I noticed within 2 months of having it indoor, the pink on the leaves is starting to fade. The plant gets really good grow lights - 12hrs/day and the light is about 8 inches from the plant. Is it the light that is causing the pink coloration to fade? Am I giving it too much light? Does anyone else having this problem? Any help on this subject is greatly appreciated! Much thanks!

  • @WhiteLiteBarbie

    So... I can see you asked this 5 years ago. But just by chance if you still want to kno the answer to your question- it’s never too late. The longer you leave the pups on the mother, the faster those pups will flower. If you want more pups and don’t care how long it takes for them to flower (usually 1-3 years), then remove them earlier and the mother will produce more.

  • @Seabreezenurseries239

    @Seabreezenurseries239

    Robert Lampron Yes, both of those will work just as well. You will probably want to add a little potting soil to the orchid blend as it can dry out a little too quickly sometimes for bromeliads.

    Hi I bought my first bromilade and I realized when I brought it home it was dying but then I realized I had a pup on it's way. I kept it attached to the mother as long as I could but recently I realized the pups leaves weren't looking so hot. Today I removed the pup and planted it. The roots were in tact. The big mystery is this. My bromeliad has white stripes on it but today as I was examining I touched the white stripes and it came right off! This is such a mystery to me. I cant imagine powdery mildew would be the culprit but that's kind of what it looks like to me although I have no idea how powdery mildew would form perfect stripes all the same length. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? It's also on my pup too and like I said it looks like a design from the plant but when you touch it, it comes right off. Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

    So this might be a stupid question but I got a plant from home Depot yesterday, it says bromeliad plastic it, is that mean it's not real the leaves almost feel unreal or is that just the type of leave. It looks like there's new growth on the side from one of the pups, o the like at lest 4 pups and one of them had the start of a new flower, but I'm wondering if there is such thing as a bromeliad plastic it doesn't look like the other one I got. Parts of the moms leaves looks like there dieing at the tips but the leaves feel so unreal. What do you think I just don't want to be watering a plant that isn't real

    Hi, I potted about 6 bromeliad pups and they are not growing roots. I've had one for over 3 months and it still hasn't grown roots. I use orchid soil and don't pot deeply. Am I doing something wrong, or does it take a long time to grow roots

  • @Seabreezenurseries239

    @Seabreezenurseries239

    Cheryl Early Bromeliads will not root very well in orchid mix. They often grow in the ground in habitat, or if they are growing in trees (ephiphytic), it is in decomposing pockets of bark and debris which acts more like potting soil than orchid mix.
