Thank you! I just did my first removal of a person at a swimming pool with some difficult and tiny replacements. Was my first time and it turned out great! You made it easy for me to understand. This is all new to me ( editing). Just got photoshop a week ago. I couldn’t subscribe fast enough!

Thank you so much for the video. I have been using the cloning tool in Photoshop for at least 12 years. And basically, by this time, I'm pretty good. But, with your approach the results seem cleaner and more effective. I always save an original before I start ANY modifications in PS. But, I didn't know anything about the "create new layer technique". It gives a lot more control than modifying the actual layer. It is very easy to see what's actually been changed and make corrections if necessary. Thanks, again.

Good tutorial. Thanks. In some of these examples, why wouldn't using the erase tool work just as well or perhaps better? I seem to have pretty good luck using it.

Great video but as I am a newbie can’t figure out what you do with the layers at the end.

If you want to save the file as a JPEG (something you can share or print), you can go to File > Save As and it will let you do that (choose JPEG from the file type). If you also want to save your edits, save the original file as a PSD or TIFF and you will retain the layers if you need to make edits afterwards.

Nice tuto. Using a new layer is a good idea. Aren't special cases where duplicating the background layer works better ? I remember having seen such comparison in the past but can't find it.

The only thing I can think of is if someone wants to change the blending mode of the stamp brush (not the layer) while doing the cloning, that might be a reason why they would want to use a duplicate layer. But for all normal cloning jobs, a new layer is ideal.
