Remove a Toyota/Lexus wheel lock without wheel lock key

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

in this video I show how you can remove a Lexus or Toyota wheel lock using a 19mm or 3/4 inch 12 point socket. using this method won't destroy the lock and can be reused for when you get the key.

Thanks a lot for this awesome video! I had a flat on my Lexus and found out that the people who did my last oil change/tire rotation totally ruined and stripped my wheel lock key. The 3/4" 12 point socket worked for me. Getting it off the lug afterwards was challenging but just required a bench vise and a good sized punch. Thanks again! The Lexus dealership wanted me to tow the car to them. I remember now why I never use them...

Thanks man this was the most helpful video ever. I thought I was screwed because I had a flat and my lock key broke. Got it off in 10 seconds with a impact and a 19mm socket.

Man you saved my life!! I got a 19 mm 12-sided socket from O'Reilly's for $5.99. I banged that sucker on there with a sledgehammer, and it worked like a charm. I removed all four the hardest part was getting the lug night out of the socket, but it worked just like you said!! Thanks so much!!

Hello, very helpful video, I just hammered in the 19 mm and with a breaker bar I removed the lock. Thanks !!

Worked like a charm! Only problem was that I had to hammer it on so hard that I couldn't save the socket.

This was done with a half inch drive ratchet BTW. No impact needed.

I was preparing to extract the lugnuts using the socket method. Then I considered using a lock key from an older Lexus. It fit perfectly. Perhaps there are generic or standard keys for Lexus? Try that first...

Yes, there are a limited number of keys that Lexus uses, you got lucky to find one that fit yours. That’s awesome.

Thanks! Is this a cone or ball lug seat? i removed it but now i have to buy a new lock.

This was a cone lug seat. I would just replace them with regular lug nuts. These locks are more problematic than they are helpful. Thanks for watching.

Didn't work when i tried, might be due to the fact that 1. dont have a impact air wrench tool 2. the lug itself was overly tightened passed torque specs.

So the McGard wheel locks are essentially pointless. Good to know.

OK now how do you get the lug out of the socket ? 🤔

Put the the lugnut end through a vice opened just wide enough to keep stop the socket from dropping through. Then take a socket extension (one size smaller that the socket- 3/8 extension for a 1/2 drive socket) and carefully tap the end of the lug till it comes loose.

Sorry for the late reply, I haven’t been on KZread in a while. I put the socket in a vise. And put a 1/4 inch extension through the socket then hit it with a hammer. Came right off.

Two Otters doesn’t have to be with an impact gun, this will work with a tire iron or hand ratchet as well. I did it on the side of the road with a ratchet when I got a flat tire on my Lexus and my wife had taken/cleaned out the car and took out the lock key.

Lakecia Reddrick what criminal(s) would want to steal old or new oem wheels anyway. Just saying it probably wouldn’t be worth it... Btw great video. Just barely did this on my fathers Lexus LS430 because his lock key was broken. Take all 4 off and use regular nuts now. Don’t want to be stuck on side road with flat tire and no lock key.

@@DrLakeciaReddrick God you're a fool. I can see you know nothing of the real world. A video like this isn't going to teach wheel thieves anything they don't already know. And you figure I would know? Is that supposed to be a cut down. It didn't work. It was as lame as your original post. Just run along and go leave more stupid comments on other peoples videos. Maybe you can tell some drone user...thanks for teaching them how to fly them illegally. You're one of those who hasn't a clue about..well...anything. You must be a Trump supporter. So many of you have the IQ of a snail. Now go run along. I have a paper due for my prof later today.
