Goosebumps. One of a kind in a generation of incredible talent. Doesn't get the credit he deserves
For me he was arguably the best warrior Man Utd has ever seen. He fought on every front. He is easily the best team player I have seen in football. Goals, assist, tackle, press, counters he had everything. Personally I would rather be Rooney than Messi or Ronaldo (who are the best the game has ever seen)

Completely agree 😇 I also believe Rooney was way better team player than Messi & Ronaldo
In terms of sheer raw talent Rooney was miles ahead of Ronaldo what propelled Ronaldo above him was his work ethic that took him to a different level that was the difference between the two. The control to bring the ball down the awareness to know people around and the confidence to go for the difficult shot all this being only 16 years of age! ronaldo only really clicked at around 22/23 Rooney was like a fish thrown to the sea at such a young age his work ethic and drive let him down. Because if he added that we wouldn't be talking about ronaldo being one of the greatest of today it would of been Rooney.

Rooney had drive, and what do you know about his work ethic?

wrong. Rooney sacrificed his main position and played where the team needed him cos he could play anywhere on the pitch so man united could win. If Rooney was a bit selfish he would have had all the records of premier league.

If Rooney was selfish about his playing position, Ferguson would have 3 less league titles.

very true, Ronaldo wasn't amazing when he was first starting out but he worked so hard.

Some boys develop physically much younger than others, and Rooney already had. Hence some great players weren't ready to show their adult talents at 17-19.
People will talk about Messi and Ronaldo, and rightfully so. But Rooney's willingness to track back, work for the team and pretty much the ability to play damn near every position should count for a lot more than it does. I feel you can make an argument for Rooney to be 3rd best player in the last few decades.
Today's generation will never see a player like Rooney, glad to see his talent and hunger
I was there. At the other end to this great goal in the Gwladys Street. Probably the best goal I've seen live.
the touch to bring it down was world class ⚡️

It was actually a bad touch, thats why it ended up behind him 👍🏻

@@robb3474 Not at all, he knew exactly what he was doing, it gave him the yard of space he needed to make Campbell back off.
The highlight is the quality of defenders Arsenal had then... better than any defenders in the League now.
Was sat in the Gwladys Street. My dad didn’t come with me to that game as his best mate had passed the night before
Rooney ended a few Arsenal unbeaten runs
Rooney and drogba as a arsenal fan I hope never happens again
Kevin Campbell there to congratulate Rooney 🤣
Rooney before they asked him to play like an Englishman

Not at all. The opposite actually. Rooney was playing like an Englishmen but FIFA changing the rules into an almost non contact sport and European style refereeing forced English players to play softer. Rooney was playing the way he played for his dad's Sunday league pub team how the English really play.

@bieituns nobody said anything about "softer" football. I was talking about natural talent (Spanish, Portuguese, French) vs lab made tea and biscuits

@@theambassador2350what are you even talking about?
Probably was too hard working and too unselfish, if another striker was moved around the pitch like he was they would have gone in a huff. If you look at Erling Haaland for Man City he plays the complete opposite to Rooney conserves energy waits for the ball to come to him - few touches - loads of goals.
Is this doc any good? IDC about players personal lives.

Remember everyone thought he was gonna be better than Ronaldo AND Messi.. definitely could've been up there if he looked after himself like the other 2 did.

He probably would have if he stayed at Everton for a few seasons, as he thrived on being the main man. However, he would never have won the trophies he did had he done so.
This was before Rooney became the diving queen.
Hide your grandma for Wayne has arrived!
Cool story......but it weren't his debut, his debut was 17th August against Spurs. This was against le arse in October.. Never let the truth get in the way of a clickbait headline!

Not his first goal either. He scored 2 in the cup a few weeks earlier
His next iconic moment vs Arsenal was a dive. What a legend!
