I grew up about 8 miles away from Waylon Jennings. I'm from Amherst and Waylon Jennings was from Littlefield. We used to drag main in Littlefield hoping we could meet Waylon Jennings. He used to put on a Free show there for his hometown. Then the city decided to put Up a fence around the place and start charging admission. Waylon Jennings said this is for my home and I will not be back.

Waylon was amazing, he was the cornerstone of the Dukes of Hazzard. The show wouldn't have been the same without Waylon's narration. I miss those days of waiting for Friday nights to watch The Dukes. A much simpler happier time for most people I believe. I'll always be a Dukes of Hazzard fan! Thanks for sharing this video, we miss you Waylon..

D J Tanner it's a crying shame the way they've blackballed the Duke's because of a damn car. Political correctness ruins so many opportunities.

That concept of the heavy bass theme, moving directly into an upbeat country romp was brilliant. I never realized how subtle yet hugely affective it was. Then Waylon's voice holding the show together. Tom Wopat seemed like a very earnest young dude, who under different circumstances, could have been a leader, etc. He very metered in his thinking. John (Bo Duke) was was the Hellraiser, who was also actually a good person. Daisy was a sweetheart, who was actually the smart one, but had a way of letting the cousins feel like they were running everything.

When I was 6 years old I had my own suitcase record player and I would play my mom's records on it all the time. Waylon's greatest hits was one of my most favorite to listen to and I knew all the words to every song by heart. When the Dukes of Hazzard came out, I was a young teenage girl so of course I had the poster of Bo and Luke standing next to the General Lee hanging on my bedroom wall. There was nobody else more perfect for narrating that show, Waylon had a perfect country voice.

As we entered the house the mother said, “the only shows the kids can watch on TV is The Dukes of Hazzard.“ My jaw almost hit the ground because I liked watching the show to see Daisy! Oh yeah, the humor was good too, yeah really. But for sure, everybody loves that theme song! -Steve-

When my son was little he loved the show. The show came back on when his son was about 3 years old. My son has been a police officer for almost 18 years. My grandson at 3 told me he didn’t want to arrest people. He wanted to be chased by the police like the Dukes. I bought the General Lee toy cars for both grandsons. My son had a Dukes of Hazard birthday party for him. A man had a car like the General Lee. That grandson is now 16, his dad gave him his pickup truck. So far he’s been a safe driver. Great memories. Anyone that wants to put that show down don’t understand us country people. Waylon singing & narrating made the show that much greater. Never be another Waylon.

I am not a huge country music lover, BUT....I do love the old Duke's of Hazzard theme, it was my favorite theme music, and I was, and am still a die-hard Scooby-Doo fanatic, and this theme song, STILL is stronger, then Scooby-Doo's was, and I would love to get into acting, and be 1 of the Duke boys, and seein' as Daisy(AKA Catherine Bach) was born and grew-up about an hour away from where I was born and raised, plus I also have a southerners love of the south(I actually used to live in Texas, for a lil while.), plus I have family in Texas and Kansas, I can easily slip into my southern style of talkin, plus I used to be a race car driver, and many other possible reasons, I can be 1 of the duke boys, easily, not to mention, I would NOT stand for it to be disrespected, like the newest movie has done so, to me, they just hacked the hell out of it!!! I remember, how I used to sit and watch it, with my dad, when I was a lil kid, and I admit it, Catherine Bach(AKA Daisy Duke), just made me drool, and I loved the General Lee, it was an awesome car! BTW, not wanting to put anyone down, on the newest movie, and all, just my opinion, since I actually watched the original series, which, I do NOT say, that I could ever be as good as they were, they were like a perfect set, I mean, those actors, were perfect for the show, and I know, it would be hard as hell, to find a perfect set, like them, again, and not to be mean, but, Jessica Simpson did NOT play Daisy right, I mean, Jessica Simpson played her, as if she was a damn slut! Catherine Bach could NEVER be truly replaced, now, if they ever do another movie of The Dukes of Hazzard, PLEASE, PLEASE replace Jessica Simpson, with someone, who actually resembled Catherine Bach's Character, seriously, I am not tryin to be mean, just bein honest and straight forward, with how shabby it was made, with how, whomever wrote the script, had no idea, how they were, back then, and trust me, even the kids in this era, would have liked it better, if it were done correctly, and have a true story-line, behind it, as well, not just have the General Lee jumpin and hoppin all over the damn place, we loved to watch this show, cuz we felt we were a part of it, due to the true nature of the story-telling, and how it was played-out, in the series, and for some reason, y'all lost touch with that, over the years, sorry to have to say it like this, but, it is the truth.....

A few years before my Mom left us, to be with Father God Jesus and her Mom and Dad, and the rest of her family and friends, that loved her. I recall her saying something like: I remember that show, with the pretty hillbilly girl wearing the short-shorts.

Waylon was an outlaw and for good reason. He is a TEXAN and SOUTHERN. Wanna find out about the outlaw stories? Ask Billy Joe Shaver or Jerry Jeff Walker. Jessi is gorgeous and gracious. I am not promoting this life. It is the way we are made. If not? This world is crazier than hell and all hope is gone folks. Law enforcement takes stuff way too serious. Hahahaha
