Rafael Bittencourt é excelente músico e muito gente boa. É um dos meus ídolos. É sempre bom ouvir ele, pois sempre se aprende algo com suas falas.

As a non brazilian and a Angra fan since 2001 i gotta say: The fact that this band isnt up there with Pantera and dream theater in terms of global metal popularity is the biggest injustice in the music industry. When in fact Angra is the best Power metal band EVER, far surpassing bands like helloween and dragonforce in terms of masterpieces, criativity and uniqueness in their tone! Just listen to their first 5 or 6 albums. When i first listened to Carry on in 2001 i fell in love immediately with them even i dont like power metal as much! They just sounded different and again on the same epic level of pantera dream theater and others.

I came to the Power metal, thanks to Carry On, in 2010. It happened when I watched a song-video on TV, in 2009, so, back home, a friend sugested it could be Carry On, from Angra. Days later, a weird thing happened: Another friend sugested the same (for the video and song description I gave), and since then, I loved Matos unique voice, Kiko and Rafa's soloing, all the magic and energy the song brings, so, I love Angra since then, and that's my favorite song, even over Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, which is one of my all-times favorites.

When did Dream Theater gain global metal popularity?

After Andre Matos death it makes me so sad to listen to Rafael saying he wants all past members to get together and play again one last time :( Angra is my all time favourite band and that would have been awesome. RIP Andre Matos.

Engraçado q na minha época de escola se alguém soubesse tocar os riffs do Angra era o mito da escola. Me lembro que eu tinha uma revista q vinha com um dvd de licks do Kiko Loureiro, acho q essa revista passou na mão de todo mundo, era pior q dvd porno, até professor pegava emprestado. Acabou q essa revista sumiu na mão de algum amigos desses, até hj qnd eu e meus amigos nos encontramos a gente lembra "Com quem ta a revista do Kiko Loureiro? Ixe não sei não..." hahahaha época mt boa.

That album got me into Angra. The intro riff of Nothing to Say is so savage I fell in love instantly.

Guys, as an non-brazilian I wouldn't have minded at all if you spoke freely in portuguese and had english subtitles! Just seeing youreminisce, subtitles or not, is more than enough!

The nice thing about Kiko's Portuguese videos is the completely unfiltered aspect of them. But, I do understand why it's preferable to do it like this: translating an English convo to Portuguese is a *much* easier job. You can translate 100% of what is being said. If the chat were in Portuguese, it would be so full of slang, it would make an already difficult job much harder.

I remember, 24 years ago, your first show in France... I was waiting outside the Locomotive with my friends, and a taxi stopped just next to us. You two came out of it, you were late I guess, and we welcomed you with screams... Kiko hug a guy in front of us, who said: I'll never wash myself anymore! This was my very first metal show, I had noise in my ears for 2 days... And after I saw you at the Aquaboulevard, at the Elysee Montmartre, at the Virgin Megastore, at the Zénith with Stratovarius, and at Evry métal festival... The good old days... Thanks for everything you gave me, keep up the good work, I'm pretty sure André is watching over you from where he is now... Hail from France!

The two of you are some of the GREATEST guitar duo's ever!! In my opinion the both of you are in the same league or better than guitar duo's like Glenn Tipton and Kk Downing, Adrian Smith and Dave Murray, Kai Hansen and Michael Weikath, Rudolph Schenker and Uli Jon Roth, and many others. I have known about Angra for at least twenty years, but the first time I ever gave them a listen was two months ago on the same day it was announced that Andre Matos passed away. Two months later I have become a massive huge fan of Angra big time! I wish that I gave Angra a chance a long, long time ago. In two months I have gotten all the studio albums and live albums. I love them all , especially Angel's Cry, Fireworks, Rebirth, Rebirth Tour Live In Sao Paulo, Temple Of Shadows, Angel's Cry 20th anniversary Tour, and Secret Garden. Not only are Angra PHENOMENAL musicians, but they are very humble and have huge hearts. Some of my all time favorite bands in the past thirty five years are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Iced Earth, Accept, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Scorpions, Dokken, Whitesnake, and many more. Angra is now on the same list for my all time favorite bands ever.

Actually the last interview Matos gave to a Brazilian KZread channel called HeavyTalk, he said he is open to the possibility. And Rafael is always inviting him. So not so impossible as it is being painted here.

Consegui fazê-lo dialogar com Nietzsche e Eclesiastes (isso mesmo, um ateu e um texto bíblico amarrados pelos conceitos envolvidos na história de Shadow Hunter!). Rafael is one of the best writers of heavy metal, his lyrics can be so deep that sometimes I had to consult a dictionary to know the meaning of a word I never read/listened before. I guess he spent a lot of time doing crosswords or playing scrabble. Even talking in his non-native language he can express his feelings better than some English speakers. Bem, aprendi MUITO inglês graças a vocês, obrigado!

I have always loved Angra and Megadeth. Rafael, you are definitely a great guitarist and an amazing composer. Legend.

Can be this more beautiful? Two great friends, successful musicians, guitar heroes together! I always remember with love the time when Angra came to Costa Rica (2004, If I’m not bad)...such a great concert! Since that, Kiko was a solid inspiration for me on the guitar!

You guys, are the absolute guitar duo that any band could ever imagine. Supreme technique , absolute control of rhythm and unique feel/connection with melody . Both extremely talented, with distinct sound and character... Thank you for all the music that you have created over the years, for the endless inspiration that you provided to anyone that was playing guitar and was trying to figure out all what the hell you were playing , for all the lyrical themes that you communicated though your songs... ultimately, thank you for existing ! I hope that somewhere in the future, we will see you performing together again live .

That story part about how the band was happy that Kiko accepted into Megadeth and they sent Kiko away to the US ... that's so beautiful.

God, how much I love this band! And they're good people (unless they certainly seem so). Buy don't be confused, Angra is a so much better band than Megadeth that, yeah, for Kiko's career it was a step forward, but as a musician I think it was a step back. But he deserves so much his success, I'm happy for him.

@@glassbox7761 It isn't. Megadeth is just "bigger". But yeah, I agree they are a Hallmark to Brazilian Metal and one of the ... Big 10 (I don't know) of Power and Melodic Metal. They just inovated so much mixing with Brazilian music influence. That band was just so full of musical geniuses. Andre Matos and Rafael were great songwriters, Kiko just a myth in guitar. But I notice that ANDRÉ was a really tough person to deal in a daily basis.

You don't know how much I strived to get that Nothing to Say riff right twenty years ago... and you can play it at the speed of light. Greetings from Mendoza, Argentina.

I've always consired you two, the apex of guitar duo Rafael is INSANELY good with guitar and could be the lead guitarist in 99% of world band, still the second guitar in Angra because Kiko imho is second only to Guthrie Govan I purchased the Japanese version of Angels Cry because in Europe it was released way later and you have been one of my huge inspiration I'm still one of those who thinks that Angra's Holy Land line-up could have conquered the world with some time and right marketing Both Megadeth and Angra have been two of my teenagers roots and man...I'd still want Kiko play with Angra, but I'm so happy you and Rafael still are best buddies

É verdade mas o fato deles terem o ingles como segunda lingua facilita muito no entendimento tambem. Se fosse dois americanos seria um pouco mais dificil. O ingles do Rafael é muito bom, da pra perceber que ele tenta tirar o sotaque um pouco mas acaba entregando involuntariamente.

This was beautiful to watch. I have been an Angra fan since 1996 and it was hard when Kiko left. I love Megadeth too but I still miss Angra with Kiko. But watching this and seeing that the brotherhood still remains between you two warms my heart.

Quando Rafa falou que, kiko criou um riff da Nothing to say que só ele tocaria e teve que modificar, ele quis deixar claro que kiko é insubstituível, é um monstro, embora, Marcelo Barbosa tbm é um ótimo guitarrista, mas o Angra sente falta do Kiko !

Loureiro e Barbosa possuem níveis próximos. Todavia , Kiko tem um estilo mais rebuscado com um pé no fusion e música brasileira . Com a entrada do Barbosa o Angra se modernizou , usou guitarra de 7 cordas, ficou mais prog . Enfim.

After finding you guys on MySpace back in 2006, I have to say I was hooked immediately!! It was the brazilian elements that drew me in as it was NOTHING like I'd ever heard before!! Holy Land & Fireworks were amazing (to me at least) in their own right but OMG when I heard Temple of Shadows it blew me away, Gate XIII to me is musical masterpiece .. its arrangement is pure genius!! I was SOOOO EXCITED to finally see you in the states .. had my ticket for months to the show in Joliet IL and then of course I came down with a serious sinus infection that knocked me off my feet for 4 days. If I have to wait another 12yrs for Angra to come back its a wait thats definitely, WORTH WAITING FOR!!! Much love to you both .. from a HUGE fan in Chicago!!!!

Angra is easily one of my favorite bands and these are two of my favorite guitarist. It's amazing getting some insight of how they think and write, and how passionate they are about everything. Temple of Shadows was an instant classic to me and is the closest thing to a "perfect album" I could ever find. Guess I'll wait to see what happens in 2021!

Hearing the 'Holy Land' album for the first time, without any prior knowledge of Angra and with absolutely no clue what to expect, as an unbiased blank slate... was one of several moments which have changed my life. That's not an overstatement or exaggeration in any way. After nearly 20 years, if I can vividly return to that moment of awe and excitement, that tells me something. Not many such moments remain in the memory, only a handful. So, :) Então, muito obrigado Rafael, muito obrigado Kiko, para que voces foram envolvendo em criar esso momento mágico da vida disto cara que tinha 15 anos e achou 50 novas 'modes de dizer foo****e' 😅 nesse dia!

Aurora Consurgens é tão bom quanto os outros, nunca deveria ser subestimado. Me ajudou a superar problemas pelo qual passei por causa da mensagem que as músicas passam. Obrigado por terem feito esse álbum.

These are two musicians that I would love to meet one day!! They are some of the most humble people I have ever seen. Rafael is the most passionate musician . I have never seen any other musician that passionate for music. Every video that I have seen with Rafael you can tell that he really loves what he does. I am not surprised because the South American fans are also the most passionate when it comes to concerts. No one else comes even close to the energy and excitement that the South American fans have. My dream one day is to go to at least one show in South America because I really want to experience that kind of excitement. Just seeing a concert from South America on KZread gets me really excited.

Essa nova geração de hoje precisa saber. Nós que pegamos o fim dos anos 80 em diante, quem tinha uma fita cassete ou LP era "o cara". CD então, só filho de rico mesmo kkk. A gente gravava programa das rádios rock, na TV etc. Nesse meio veio o trabalho magistral do Angra que encantou a todos. E o que esses rapazes fizeram para vencer barreiras!!! Tudo era mais difícil na época. Parabéns Kiko, Rafael, por suas músicas me fazerem feliz!!!

El Rebirth fué un excelente album, pero el Temple of Shadows reventó mi cabeza. Y eso que Eduardo F ya no estaba en su apogeo vocal. Yo tengo un sueño... volver a ver Angra con Kiko. La música de Angra no tiene absolutamente nada que ver con Megadeth (gracias a dios). Salud a ambos y larga vida al metal sudamericano!!!

Que ya no estaba en su apogeo vocal ???? De que rayos hablas si edu hasta el aurora consurgens mantenía un rango vocal muy bueno ya en el aqua fue cuando empezó a tener problemas en su voz y por esa razón decidió irse de la banda

Voce pode nao gostar desses caras, nao gostar de Angra, mas quem disser que eles nao revolucionaram o power metal no país e no mundo simplesmente foi abduzido nos ultimos 30 anos por algum E.T, o Angels Cry foi um marco, me lembro de ouvir na epoca e nao acreditar que aquilo foi gravado por brasileiros que nasceram no meio do samba e bundas, parabéns e obrigado por mudar minha vida com sua música

A intro de Rebirth ainda é uma das coisas mais bonitas que já ouvi.

As a heavy metal lover and a researcher in the filed of ethnic and traditional music I was so impressed by ANGRA when I first heard their music back in the 90'. They did something incredibly innovative and they did it perfectly. Great musicians, amazing songwriting and a warm Brazilian soul that you can feel in this nice chat too.

I was at that concert in Paris in 1999 when Bruce Dickinson just appeared on the stage ! That was one of the most memorable concert moment of my life ! Unforgettable , I can also remember we all had some promoting lighters ( we still could smoke inside at the time ) and with my friends we just lighted one big cigar that we bought especially when Lisbon would start ! What a time that was , was 17 and that is gold memories !

Eu conheci o Angra já nos anos 2000, moro no interior do Pará ao sul do estado, praticamente dentro da floresta amazônica, conheci o angra através de um amigo, depois por revistas e enfim ouvi o primeiro álbum que foi literalmente o primeiro álbum da banda, me lembro como se fosse hoje, aquele CD Angel's Cry faltou pouco Foi furar e ou derreter dentro do aparelho de som, depois ouvi Rebirth e daí só consolidou a paixão pelo som magistral dessa banda antológica, cara, em 2011 no Porão do Rock em Brasília tive a inesquecível experiência de ver minha banda de metal nacional favorita, impagável, fiquei bem ali coladinho no palco cantando junto, não era o Kiko nas corda, mas era o Marcelo Barbosa que também já o admirava, foi épico, emocionado vendo vocês dois nesse vídeo, sou um maranhense Headbanger que mora no sul do Pará que viu a banda favorita em Brasília, sucesso. I wish that every band had the attitude that Angra has. No matter what, current members and ex members will always be considered family. Angra welcomes ex members all the time to come up on stage with them and play. That is how much Angra loves their history and their fans. Rafael is the most passionate musician I have ever seen. I enjoy listening to him talk about their history and their music. I love this band so much, and one day I want to see them live.

I knew Angra for the first time in around 2008/9. I heard Rebirth album first and immediately I fall in love. I move forward to Temple of Shadow album, and I found impressive improvement from Angra, that album was one of the best album all the time i think
