I fucking miss you man. I will never forget PE at Bret Hart middle school and our workouts at Ronnie Lots club fitness. I will never forget the day you said goodbye when you said you were going to play for the Cardinals. And I will never forget the day I say your first game. When the towers fell, you rose to fight. That's how you were. As far back as I can remember that was you. A fighter for those in need. At 5ft 11 you were a giant of a man. Almaden Valley was our home and for me Almaden will always be your monument to me. You were the best of us.

Matt R I don’t agree with Colin- but he is using the freedom Tillman was defending...Colin, if you don’t realize it or not...you are one American exercising the rights our flag stands for. For this, the subject I disagree with you, but your actions I salute you. PS I am a conservative American that values these liberties. If we stop exercising them, they will take them away. Hooah

Hi RTL. I just rented Tillman Story a couple of weeks ago. Loved it. I went to the Diamondbacks game last night, it was Reunion night of the WS 2001 Champions. They had nice 9/11 ceremonies tied in throughout the program and the game. Very nice, lots of warm fuzzies. I'm sure the Cards will do something nice before the game, or maybe half-time to commemorate the occasion. RIP, Pat. We will never forget!!

He is a hero it’s just sad that there are so few like him, more people should have followed in his footsteps, a huge part of the story that never gets mentioned is we are literally just talking about pat Tillman and that’s it because he was the only pro sports player who manned up and enlisting after nine eleven which is sad, a lot of them, most of them were financially set for life, they wouldn’t have lost anything tangible really except for an even higher bank balance, but they were not patriots so they didn’t join

This piece needs to have updated information about how he died by friendly fire in the description, plus should also use annotations. It is important to honor him to say the truth that he was killed by friendly fire. That how he died was knowingly covered up by the military and lied to his family. They released information to the news about being killed by the Taliban when the military knew it was a lie!

No. He lost his life because a member of his own squad, despite seeing him in his scope waving his arms, blew his head off with a 50cal. That has nothing to do with America. Pat read Chomsky, he didn't believe in the Bush policies. If he thought people believed that he died for his country he would've been furious. He died shouting at his own squad who had never been in a fire fight "why are you shooting!? I'm Pat fucking Tillman!" The country is no democracy but an oligarchy,( yep, that's a fact look it up) if you have any doubt of what I say, look at the family. They were so furious that the government would knowingly lie to them, to pat's brother who was in the other squad, and you and me. If you want to know what Pat died for watch "The Tillman Story." Died for his country. Yeah. Just like JFKjr. RFK, MLKjr, Gandhi all the way back to jesus(if you go in for that) and Socrates. He died for the ideals and values he believed in, which had nothing to do with a capital based oligarchy. If anything, he died in defiance of the United States of America.

The large sum of soldiers that return home has PTSD. It's so sad.

@Christopher41791 Actually (to support your point) he was shot by THREE .223 rounds to directly to the FOREHEAD, by an M4a1 carbine (a close range weapon as I'm sure you know), which were within INCHES of eachother. Additionally, he was standing behind cover - a rock - and so the only way a person could shoot 2 more shots after he fell from the first, was to literally walk behind the rock, right on top of his body, and shoot 2 more bullets. They then burned ALL of his belongings

@booeyats1 I agree with you completely, but I hope you do know that Tillman was very much against the war and the government. His decision to serve alongside his brother was made out of respect for all soldiers who've fought and died for their country. He knowingly gave up everything he had, including a $3.6mill contract and eventually his life, in order to serve what he thought he owed to his country.

Pat Tillman was lied to repeatedly, and on top of that, people lie about his death which shows complete disrespect, and lack of heart. Pat Tillman was a hero in every way, shape, and form but was betrayed by disgusting human beings. God knows all, and those who did the act will almost definitely suffer a terrible consequence.

The term "fragged' is used to describe the murder of an upopuliar officer. It's coined from the method used. A framentation grenade is placed under the officers cot with the pin removed and a pencil in it's place. The officer lies down, the pencil is dislodged and the upper torso is blown away. This happened to a number of 90 day wonders, wouldbe polititions and natural born leaders in Vietnam. A combat setting is an exceedingly poor place to forge a political career.

@PhreshBboy - read about his background. He is different because he died from friendly fire, & the military & government tried to cover it up, saying he died leading his men up a hill to combat. The cover-up reached the highest levels of the military & govt. If it wasn't for his family, especially his mother, spending years trying to get to the truth, the truth wouldn't have come out. And all of the truth still hasn't come out, 7 years later. They probably murdered him to shut him up. RIP Pat

You're focusing solely on the actions that happened in Sperah that day. I am not arguing that it was intentional fratricide, because there is nothing to say it was. Nor am I arguing the bravery of our forces on the ground. I am arguing that higher up military and government officials, had FULL KNOWLEDGE of the fratricide, yet went against Pat Tillman's wishes and used his death as a publicity stunt. This is well documented, and to ignore it would be something of complete and utter ignorance.

I did not know him personally, but I respect anyone who gives up there life to join the US military. I thought his death took away from all the other soldiers who died over seas. Now, I dont believe that. None of us are given our freedom, we all should earn it like he did. Dont know what else to say. RLTW 1/75

i love how people say capitalism works.....if it worked we wouldnt be in debt 1 trillion dollars. most of the population would not be on welfare. the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. my mom has a masters degree in law with a lot of experience and has applied all over the place and no job offers. all major corporations are always going bankrupt. the hardest workers are the ones working for minimum wage 50 hours a week while billionares sit in their mansions ruining lives.

You don’t think too deeply, do you? Bush was complicit in everything but he was no mastermind, but cheney was cold blooded.. why would them old farts have to do it when they had so many trained killers at their disposal... Probably was the agency involved though...

Pat Tillman probably would have stayed in the NFL if he knew the Cardinals were going to get better.

First, I am not questioning the bravery or honorable intentions of Pat, also I don't feel obligated to explain my character to a boy such as yourself. Second, immediately after Pat's death the initial investigation proved to be something of a sham, as evidence was destroyed and facts were distorted. It was for this reason that there were several further investigations to see if there was misconduct. And there was, a General was demoted because of it. Get your head around it, there was a cover-up

ASCEND2ETERNITY's post to me - " 7.62x39, 5.45x39, 5.56x45 is the ammo used by Ak47. All autopsy's revealed .223 calibur ammo, with the initial hits coming from behind at some 60-70 yards. More astounding were the 3 shots fired from a yard away, drawn in a line between his eyes, & the "special units" assigned the same day, & none of them wore tags or badges. He was killed because he knew the truth, & it was written in his letters when he wrote back stating they were only gaurding opium fields."
