Remembering Alan Wake | PostMesmeric
Ойындар
UPDATE 7/2/19: Apparently Alan Wake is back on the market and the publishing rights are back with Remedy. Still, this game is worth remembering.
Alan Wake is off the market, and with Alan Wake 2 lost to the aether, it's time to see how this big-budget horror thriller became such a cult classic, and how its themes are carried throughout its story and gameplay.

Alan wake showed me as a kid that video games could be something more. Before Wake all I played were madden and LEGO games and I’m so glad Alan Wake showed me that video games can make me feel more than instant gratification. It really affected me and has stuck with me my entire life shaping who I am. I hope Remedy will be able to come back to Alan Wake in the future so I can feel the wonder I had playing the game for the first time.
Why does everyone keep saying that Alan Wake will never get a sequel? Sam Lake himself said that they will continue Alan Wake when the time is right. Theyre not abandoning it, Alan Wake is very dear to them. I think theyre doing a very fitting, Twin Peaks thing. Twin peaks season 2 ended on a massive cliffhanger, and on very similiar situation as in Alan Wake. Both trapped in some darkness. Twin Peaks came back after many, many years and I believe Alan Wake will as well.

PostMesmeric having just watched close encounters again I would love Stephen Spielberg would create an Alan Wake movie. He could very accurately create that night time feel as he nails in ET and Close Encounters. I wish someone could pitch his studio Alan Wake or send over a bunch of videos with the "other places bright falls" or poets of the fall "war" video. Id think he would get the concept as a film maker how this game could translate to film. I recently went to Washington state (Im British) and walking in the woods made me instantly think of Alam Wake. Its amazing how not having played it in years I can still think of that game. Thats how well it entrenches in my mind.
Hey so... Im from the future and Im here to say a continuation to alan wake is in the making

It's an absolute shame this masterpiece never got a sequel but on the other hand look at how water down every franchise becomes with each following sequel As much as I would love to see you franchise a one part masterpiece is acceptable

Alan wake is still one of my favorite games of all times. I still remember the lyrics for the song poets of the fall sang, children of the elder gods, so catchy. Alan wake was just full of character. And I don't know if you've ever watched the concept trailer for alan wake 2 that came out a long time ago, but there was so much potential. Ill never give up hope for a sequel.
Alan Wake was one of my favorites of that console generation. I played through the whole game in one sitting on release day because it hooked me so hard.

SkipToGame Yeah, it's a very gripping game. Story sinks its teeth in hard. :)
I mean, we got a second game, Alan Wake's American Nightmare. I really loved these games, to be honest. I didn't realize that Alan Wake was no longer being sold. That's really fucked up, since it's such a great goddamn game. I can't believe that devs are letting this die, all over music IP. It's nuts how music is licensed in games. Seriously, how the fuck did this happen? I'm so glad I bought both Alan Wake games.

I still have the original that I purchased back in 2010. But whenever I visit Gamestop, they usually have at least one used copy for sale.
A criminally underrated game! Can't believe it's now 10 years old! This is one of very few games that genuinely terrified me
With Halloween happening soon, I was feeling nostalgic for Alan Wake. I'm glad I found your vid. I experience much of the same sentiments. It felt like I was listening to my own thoughts vocalized when you talked about the manuscript pages.
I was late to the game, but I really enjoyed when I finally was able to get around to Alan Wake. I agree wholeheartedly that's it's one of those games that eludes classification. Good video, man.

It's nice to see someone give Alan Wake some love. I really enjoyed this game, and certainly would have taken a follow up to this over what Quantum Break. Your videos are actually pretty well put together. It reminds me of editorial youtube channels like Super Bunnyhop, Writing on Games, and Game Maker's Toolkit. Hopefully your channel will grow. The manuscript mechanic really worked for Alan Wake but I'm not sure how it could fit into games not playing with meta in some form or fashion. The discovery of pages explaining future events is, as you've mention, a perfect marriage of gameplay and story. It's memorable because such a mechanic is unique to Alan Wake.
I really really hope for a sequel someday. It had so much story, heart and love in it. The controls were a bit clunky but it more than made up for it. Please make it happen. The light vs the darkness theme, I love it.
I felt crying when I finished Alan wake. Its very good game play, movie, storylines, graphics,
You know, I never got around to playing Alan Wake's American Nightmare. I should fix that.
I loved that Game and that Time of my Life ....i just bought AW and the DLC on the PC. I´m very happy to "go back in Time" and enjoy it one more time. Thanks for your Video :) Btw. Happy New Year to all of you ;)
I STILL play this a few times a year! Even the American Nightmare DLC. I even love most of the stuff you said was not so great (I agree with your opinion, but I still love it!) Thanks for the video!
Remedy is making 2nd Alan Wake game but I think this time instead of getting a big name band to do music they should find a good independent band who they can work out a contract to share revenue with for the game's music
It's a shame this game is delisted. This game has some true potential. I need replay this game too.

MoonSpirit one of those games I totally got sucked into the world and atmosphere. Bought it without seeing any of the hype when it came out and loved how it played how it felt. I played it first time around in a cabin in north wales snowdonia which was very close to the woods you found yourself in. I’ve had a soft spot for Alan wake as much as I have for sonic or metal gear solid. Just something loved about how the forest felt, the swaying trees and ambient music.

Playing it right now and it's still scary and holds its atmosphere. What I found exciting was that I've got a digital copy on my xbox one x a few years ago and replayed it then too since I lost my 360 disk and only tonight discovered my digital version has all the dlc that I never played I'm gonna be busy for a few nights for sure now
haha man that rock concert stage level is AWESOME
I’m still hopeful for the sequel, no doubt the recent bump of people playing again thanks to game pass and the 10th anniversary won’t go unnoticed by remedy. I’m sure they know it will be a hit for them, and we’ve waited longer than 10 years for sequels before, it’s still very possible.
games are sold used and can find it on xbox 360 everywhere still. i hate digital because it can be gone any time. discs are always going to be there. just buy the disc if you wanted it.
Brilliant video
I have never played the game but after watching this and the trailer it was amazing, I have to find a way to get the game
i'm only 2 minutes in but it really pisses me off that games like this master piece get forgotten while micro transaction filled games obtain mainstream recognition , based on the way the industry is going, it's a much safer bet to go backwards and enjoy what came before rather then the garbage that's being put out now , and if you haven't noticed by my opinion , thats what im doing
Great job man!! and a great game
Humble Store has it on sale for $4:04 atm.
i would love a new Alan Wake. i know we never will get one but we can hope. in my opinion Alan Wake is more of a story game that's why its so linear and simple. in today yeah most of the components did not grow up well but the story is what maters and a reason why most will remember and like the game.

PostMesmeric 5 months late to reply but when you look at the bs we as gamers go through with fallout and how Bethesda handled 76 or battlefield 5 I love remedy entertainment even more. Played quantum break and loved it then replayed Alan wake and I miss his story and wish I had more of that world to explore. It’s one of those few games I have ever wanted to invest my time in buying the soundtrack and the art book. I’m even doing a project 350z with the game in mind. Everything about this game sticks in my head as what a game should make you feel long after you played it. Bravo remedy bravo.

I like this game i played it 4times
Alan Wake has a great story but not a fan of its action gameplay. When i finished it about 7 years ago, the ending's not very satisfying either. If only it followed Quantic Dream's... now that i've heard a live action adaptation's likely gonna come, i'm gonna just remember this in my memory.
Only 5.5k? Man you deserve a shit tone more with these presentation values.
Best or second best game for Xbox 360
The thing with this .. it's not a game .. it's a well written story you get the chance to play .. damn it Remedy ... how could you guys f**k this shit up ? damn it, damn it ..
EA lurking in the dark... it opens up the mouth to speak... “ you know what this game needs? Micro transactions... service based...” terrifying words whispered in the air, like flu the fear could haunts a man from the great inner depth...

I'm not sure if Alan wake was trying to be scary, but at the same time giving health food tips and how to properly use ranger facilities. Good game otherwise. In moments that were supposed to be scary, an enemy would say random stuff,. I'd laugh at how random some things being said.
