I joined the Marine Corp in 1976, at that time Montford Point was not taught as part of Marine Corp history. I have the honor to have gotten to know 2 Montford Point Marines in my hometown. Because of them all I had to do was prove as a woman that I earned title "MARINE..... I will always feel humbled in there presence and blessed to know them

My dad was a Montford Point Marine, 1946-1948, William Streets Jr., and he wore his anchor, globe, and eagle tattoo proudly on his right front forearm. And his mannerism til the day he left us, was as a United States Marine.

So proud of these men. It was breathtaking to spend a few days with them in Washington DC this summer as they were awarded their overdue honors. Hearing these stories told over and over again are never boring. I can still hear my father's stories through the lives of those remaining original Montford Pointers. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.... Montford Point Marines. Thanks for everything because you helped change a lot of things. Dgtr of SSgt Dennis Mitchell Sr Montford Point 1945 and 1947.
