Remember Me in Your Kingdom: The Life of Abba Moses The Black

Abba Moses was one of the great desert fathers of Egypt. He lived a wretched life before becoming a monk, even leading a band of thieves. But in time, he repented and spent the rest of his life in an ascetic struggle to purify himself. He was guided by Abba Macarius the Great and Abba Isidore. The title of this video comes from the one thief who hung on the cross next to Christ, "Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom."
Saint Moses the Black (330-405), (also known as Abba Moses the Robber, and the Strong) was an ascetic monk and priest in Egypt in the fourth century AD and a notable Desert Father. The name Ethiopian comes from two Greek words Etho(αἴθω) which means to burn and Ops(ὄψ) which means face. This was the name ancient Greek speakers called Subsaharan Africans: Burnt Faces.

I stumble and fall daily. I do a quick morning prayer and then ignore Jesus the rest of the day. Throughout the day, however, my soul longs for Christ. These videos nourish my soul no earthly possession can ever fulfill. I love you Jesus! I love Your saints too! Thank you for these videos!

It is possible to remember your Father and Christ every moment of the day. It's a choice. You are choosing each moment. If it seems difficult, you are lying to yourself, and arrogantly think you can be apart from what you ARE. Nothing could be easier than doing what God Wills. Deceive yourself no longer in the face of Love, Life and Truth, choosing instead arrogantly, death and guilt and pain. The choice, as always, belongs to you. Choose again.
If Abba Moses can repent and be saved, perhaps there is hope for me yet... Holy Father Moses, pray to God for us! ☦

Good I went to see him. I love Orthodoxy. The only problem is the distance of the church to my house. I've been praying about it but I don't really know what to do.

I could drive every once in while. But it saddens me that I can never take part in the Eucharist. The priest said that I had to be a catacumen (sorry I couldn't spell the word) for at least a year. But I guess I could go worship.

Thank you ❤️ The desert father's were truly great (and by they I mean God cuz they prolly would like me calling them great haha). Btw, I learned of the Coptic church from my now best friend youssef who I worked with. He moved to Texas recently and got married to a woman named mariam. Would you believe the wedding got pushed back because of covid and ended up being on the feast of mary!!! He's the greatest man I've ever met and mariam is a true sweetheart. I can't wait till they have kids. They're waiting till mariam finishes her doctorate!

The lives of saints offers us encouragement for our own struggles.
Feeling unworthy and unloved and unlovable in isolation. So this great man’s story truly hit home. Providence of the Lord is a blessed mercy. Edit: pray for us, abba Moses.

I thought that saints were largely a Catholic phenomenon. Now I see that the Orthodox Church has them and now the Coptic Church. I'm guessing Islam as a parallel to it. I'm a trained historian and I look for patterns.

Great man indeed! He prayed to Jesus Christ too. We don't need to ask him to pray for us. We have the( Holy Spirit) Once a Christian the Holy spirit convicts us and helps pray for forgiveness.
