Remember Flashback at Six Flags Magic Mountain? Roller Coaster Front Seat POV!
Remember Flashback at Six Flags Magic Mountain? It was a one-of-a-kind Intamin/Giovanola "Space Diver" roller coaster. It traveled around to several Six Flags parks and it was not known for being a "smooth" roller coaster! The ride closed forever in 2003. Here's some retro footage that was shot in 2000! Enjoy!

I like how the camera zooms into Goliath at 1:34 because this was shot in 2000 which means Goliath was brand new
i feel like if it was remade today with a different track and train it could be a huge hit today for people who rode the original and newcomers to coasters alike
I remember riding this ride like it was yesterday. The skies were blue, the cold California air hitting my face as I heard the clicks of the chainlift. We finally made it to the top, mom and dad by my side and as the train approached the first dive, I woke up and realized that I never rode this ride bc I was born in 1996.

I rode this exactly once, back in the 90s, and I still remember how much it banged up my head. You would never guess from watching this footage.
This ride was the best, at night they used to put strobe lights on it and they timed them to each of the sequences of the ride to repeat. Still one of my favorite coasters of all time!

A lot of people liked it, and for awhile it was considered scary and extreme. I remember going to MM with a group of friends for a birthday and all of us being scared as the coaster roared by, asking each other if we were scared and saying we weren't. I must have ridden this 4 or 5 times over the years and don't remember it being painful. Viper, on the other hand, knocked my head back and forth onto the restraints.

thank you I have been looking for this for ages now 😊
And to think this was the first ever coaster to use what we now known as B&M track. We've come a long way from seeing how crappy this style of track was 30 years ago to seeing it as one of the best styles of coaster track ever created, that shows how much the technology has improved

I never had a chance to ride this coaster (those times I went to Magic Mountain it was always closed), but it obviously was open during the time period I attended that park in since I visited both pre and post the installation of Goliath, which you see in several of the shots. I remember seeing this coaster there, though, and being very curious about it because I'd never seen another one like it, one that was so pointedly compact. I'm glad I found this video ride through!

my home park!! sadly i never came to the park until 2015. this looks so fun
The poor children in the background getting in so much pain
I remember being the only person who would ever want to ride this. After whichever group I was with would get off this ride they would complain how painful it was. Maybe I was the perfect height or something cause I always enjoyed it. :-o
As a kid, I wanted to ride this so much as I watched VHS tapes from the 90's about it. I was so confused to see the park as it is rather than how I always thought it was.
It feels very weird watching a POV with an audio and camera quality that can still be compared to modern standards from 2003 or before.

This OG was a Painful but Fun memory
My husband and I rode this back in June 1992. I hated it. It was so painful. After the first drop I was so ready for it to end.
This was my first steel coaster. It was Z force at SFOG back in May 1989 during my 8th grade end of the year trip.
This ride was so bumpy!
I liked to think that it was called Flashback because your life flashes before your eyes before the imminent death from the bludgeoning you get on the ride. Though, I still enjoyed it the more I rode it. Perhaps because the concussions made me believe so.
Maybe I'm a freak, but I kind of remember enjoying this ride - thought it was kinda cool.
I rode this so many times and I loved it
Was lucky enough to have ridden this in the mid 80's. Thought it was pretty cool, although the trim braking kind of killed the momentum. In a way, this is a predecessor to the Zac spins (without the spin- so maybe not). Anyway, thanks for the memories, Rob.
Flashback may be closed, although, there is one remnant left of it. If you go inside the gates next to bugs bunny world you'll see the fright fest maze condemned which is the loading station for flashback. You can also see it during fright fest if you go in the maze or if you are in Hurricane Harbor, you can spot it as well, look closely to your left and you will see it.
Never was a good ride but I am happy I got to ride it. The initial Hairpin drop is something I would like to see again on another rollercoaster.
I wish I could have went on that... it looks amazing
Remember riding this coaster on more than one occasion. Man, it was so painful. Surprised it lasted as long as it did.
I rode this back in 1999. I found it strange and not very pleasant but was so star struck of being at amazing Magic Mountain my childhood dream coasterpark that I didn't mind it. On every level it makes you go "this can't be.. you wouldn'taaaaaaa". From todays perspective, smaking my head against the headrest was a pain, but Viper does it too, to this day.
HAHA Flashback had some sick advertisements and that was when I first went to 6 flags... it knocked you around and would give you cauliflower ear
I never got to ride it because it was always closed. But I love the compact repetitive design, its unique and cool.

Dude I remember this ride it really tweaked my neck .
Rode this a few times during my childhood. I always found it to be intriguing and appealing because it was so unique and creative. However, the pain and rattling took away most redeeming qualities. Also, unless you get the front wall, the tall cars made visibility zero as you were staring at a giant fiberglass wall the entire time.
This was the very first coaster I ever went on.... Thankfully I went on vine shortly after and released there were better less painful coasters.
A remastered version of this would be better than any 4d free fly, right.
Favorite coaster to watch in rollercoaster tycoon lol.
I was lucky to ride this back in 1993 and hell it left u marks on your shoulders 😀
I remember hearing the Batman stunt show while waiting in line for this at Six Flags Magic Mountain, but the concussion sensation after exiting the coaster
Woow nostalgia at its finest
Another problem was that because the sound of the coaster was loud to the life guards at Hurricane Harbor, it was generally closed from May to September everytime the water park was operating during the summer.
Woah the pov looks more like it was shot in 2010 or something because the quality is awesome and the audio as well

Never rode it, but it was stashed unused in Hurricane Harbor for a while.
i love rollercoasters, and this has been the only one I remember not enjoying. There was an unpleasant physical sensation to those accelerated sharp turns at the ends . None of my friends suggested we ride it again.
I first got on this ride during its last remaining years, it give me a headache and i felt like it was gonna my neck because of those inverted twists.
I moved to California only a few years before this ride was taken down and it was almost always not operating so I don't even remember for certain if I got the chance to but since I have a vague remembrance of a nickname for it along the lines of Crackback or something like that, I think I did
