    Hi Tony! If only moving house was so easy in real life! :) I wasn't following you when you did the original build with the cobblestones, so it was interesting to see how you'd underpinned them with lollipop sticks! My plan with Shelfington, if I ever get onto actually adding buildings, is not to glue them down, but rather utilise magnets and small metal plates to fix them in place! That way I should be able to move them around more easily if and when required! Always a pleasure to see how you work Tony! All the best, Ian.

    Hi Ian, the lolly pop stick were used to get the height to meet the top of rails. seems an age since our last video. i am spending so much time like yourself going out and about. although i am not moving house. as it would be very time consuming to re-build the north eastern layout again. cheer's for now my friend. Dear Tony, great fit for ‘The Birch Inn.’ Love the way this revamp enhances the look into the diesel facility and especially the disused point and the former track between the cobblestones, blocked in with cobbles in the direction of the track. Great choice to paint the slab under the cantina as a reminder of the removed water tower. With the new coat of asphalt, the paving, pedestrian crossing the entire 39 steps area has received a well deserved municipal upgrade! Very curious for the upgrades on the Kibri buildings. Cheerio

    Hello and good morning Vincent. Its amazing how a simple change around can improve the look especially when i look back to what was there before the pub was put in. and luckily there was no major damage done to the surrounding walls. As for the depot. the change has not effected the appearance that much. the loss of the water is worth it. The Kibre buildings will be loosing all the European bit and bobs. and a repaint and typical English shop fronts. so yes i can not wait to do those. but the bigger projects must come first...all the best my friend. Tony.

    Morning Tony, what a great location for Birch Hall Inn, it does look like it's always been there. What a change to the area, really like the little cameo of the crossing. It's touches like this that brings a scene to life. That was a bit of work to lift the cobbles but you've made a good job. More room there than it looks at first. I'm very behind this weekend, we've been to Sherborne in Dorset, my nephew who's in the Army, got engaged and they had a party for family and friends. It was lovely. So glad to hear Laura is doing well now it's been a worrying time for you all., please pass on our love, I see you've got another video out so I'm go to catch up with that, Eddy and Anne xxx ps. I think the PC Pitkins was called PC Ventress, I'm probably to late for that one now. Xx

    Hello Rob. Interesting thoughts about the graffiti on the roads. i was tinkering around with ideas to see what looked best. a roundabout of T junction. but i think i have made the right decision and kept the T junction. that's the fun with model railways. as with your new feature the Bridge. thanks again my friend. cheer's Tony.

  • @Rock_God
    @Rock_God4 ай бұрын

    Hi Tony. Wonderful intimate scene you have created and a lovely pub building too. I’m glad you did not put that mini roundabout in , as it would not fit in with the period modelled. Sometimes less is more. You have a propensity to make bullet proof scenics that require a jack hammer and several sticks of dynamite to remove 😝 PVA is good but , like anything else, it’s horses for courses, and adhesives only need to be as strong as needed. Most structures may need lifting in the future, same with trackwork, and for these I recommend a latex adhesive called Copydex. It smells like fish. 😫 It has just enough hold to keep things in place, but being latex based, allows you to remove stuff easily. Great for laying trackwork. Better than ye olde track pins! For layout lighting, running a 12v (or whatever voltage you use) lighting bus around the layout is most helpful, as local lighting just connects to the bus nearby, just like track dropper wires connect to the DCC bus. Maybe late in the day but worth considering. Looking forward to the next one, so see you back there. Best, Jason.

  • @TONYNORTHEASTERN

    Hi Jason, my friend. i use 12volts with the LEDS. one small transformer can do up 100 lights. i have 3 transformers for various areas of the layout at the moment. which will do plenty. I do like to keep my power supplies separate so there wont be any spikes or power surges. it is a bit late now to change over to Copydex. all useful ideas for anyone starting out with a new layout. thanks again my friend. stay safe. Tony.

    Tony once again I am in awe of the way you create these scenes, the placement of the buildings adjacent to the bridge piers and high level bridge , together with the steps climbing up to the station on the other side of the road reminds me very much of Dean street/Side Newcastle upon Tyne. Indeed the Kiri building wont need that much work as they already have the feel of the stone Victorian grand found in that particular area. I have been amused by Mickey Barrass's comparison of Reg Prescott and yourself with blades and chisels aplenty !!, if I may suggest, I find an reciprocating multi tool with suitable blade can aid with demolition with surprising surgeon precision. all the best pal

    It still amazes that people do not understand that PVA can be soaked and then when it is softened enough an item can be removed without any damage. I build a boat with PVA and the glue softened and the boat sank. I also use this technique for uplifting track from baseboards.

    Tony Been subscribed for a few years can remember when you 1st built the Diesel Depot. Those Large Kibri Town Buildings can be made to look more English so you can Anglicise some Features, or even tone down some of the colours to more muted colours between stonework or rendering and trim. You also might be able to alter some to shop using more English looking shop features from kit parts card etc. But also having English Signs and lettering fonts will alter the look. You might be able to alter side or back walls to brick or stone. Chimneys are also something else that could be very regional so English looking ones with tall pots might alter the look as well. I know Michael at Chandwell has mentioned an area near the Bradford City Centre called Little Germany. I know you use a lot of photographic evidence so what did the larger buildings in South Tyneside look like were there common features or South Shield been a Seaside Town were there lots of bright colours on adverts and shop fronts especially for Seaside style things like Food or Amusements. Just some ideas to think about to keep the overall feel of a up to the late 1960’s. After all your modelling an era before Mass Mediterranean Holidays. Ian

    Hello Mr rock and roll. the kibri buildings i bought of ebay years ago. they are Ho but the door heights and windows are spot for oo gauge. if your going to get some be careful and stick with the large shops. otherwise you could end up with buildings that have the smaller doors and windows. cheer's for now my friend. Tony.

    Oh, Stop now. Make sure you have an old gate (road width) in the back wall. The old publican would have been excited, being that close to the rail he could have his Beer delivered right to the door (back Door) by rail. The only pub in Town that has beer from all over the British Isles.

    Very true George. the only pub on Tyneside that has every beer possible that was available at the time. just wide for a horse and cart. a cellar is planed for when i come back to the streets. thanks again for commenting, that's a big cheer's from me...Tony.

    Looks like PC Pitkin had one too many ales at the Birch Hall Pub. As Roger Nicks heads toward the 39 Steps. Great revamp of a street that needed it. Tony do you have street names for all of your streets in the TNE empire? Bill & Janet from California

    Hi Bill & Janet. thank you for another warm welcomed comment. The street names i do have a few on my mind. King Street & Wattling street. which are from south shields. wattling used run around the back of the train station. and King street was and still is the main high street of south shields. but yes at some point i will return to the streets were we lived. but other bigger projects need to be looked at first. closing and re-building one of the stations. all will be re-vealed. until next time take care. all the best from Tony & Laura....

    IF you get thrown out of one pub it is a short walk around the corner to the other. That is depending if you can still walk. that is. There would be no chance of walking up the 39 steps. Is the cabin too close to the wall with an open door? Some people would complete that scene.

    Hello Martyn I am glad that you have commented twice. and good luck in the quiz. The thing is if can not walk the 39steps. there always the buses. or just walk up Tyne dock station. which is further along. so plenty of options. for getting home after a nite on the toon. thanks again for commenting my friend. cheer's for now Tony.
