Thank you Mike for these videos. I had never heard of the Willis collet die. I am going to be looking into that straight away.

Working up a load for a customer's 300WM, and for my SAKO M995, as well, using a lot of same techniques. The collet belted-magnum die works very well!

I have a friend who shoots .300 Win Mag and he swears by IMR 7828 for his performance in accuracy, Hornady (I believe) is the best overall Vs. Sierra, Sierra does Make some awesome bullets, however, they are pricy. Hornady seems to be "Nut's and Bolts" when accuracy and price are combined. You are doing a good series using the Vihtavuori as a powder selection, that brand of powder is twice the cost of competitive brands in the United States, most people here don't use it for that reason. However, you can't go wrong with it. it is great quality powder and you get what you pay for without a lot of shopping around. -Dave

Mike, thanks for putting this up. I have a question on the Willis collet die for removing case bulge. You FL sized then trimmed then removed the bulge. Does that not make the case length grow at all? I'd have thought you'd FL size then go through the Willis then trim.

Check this video out. Erik Cortina has a two part on chasing the lands. It made a BIG difference in all of my rifles: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYaMzqWAabzAkrQ.html

How many grains of powder would you use if you were using 185 grain bullets?

Can you suggest how you determined the seating of the bullet. I have a tikka t3x 300 win mag which has a fairly long throat. Folks have suggested cutting a case, lightly seating the bullet, cycling it through the rifle so you can visually see the bullet contact within the case, then adjusting seating depth from there.

With a long throat. If you compare the seating depth to the width of the bullet they say thats enough. So if your bullet won't touch the lands before dropping out of the case mouth. Seat them all the caliber width or shorter. You will find that rifles with long throats usually don't get much more accuracy by the seating depths. Play about yourself and see how yours behaves. And as long as the bullet is seated .300 of an inch you will be fine. Don't crimp them tho I have never needed to crimp 300 wm. Hope this helps a little - mike

Hi its the Larry willis die you can find him if you google Larry willis size die there is a link at bottom of the page. It's so worth it as I'm still using the same cases now as in that video 20 plus reloads later. The brass is still perfect
