I noticed thinning on the sides and hairline 2 years ago and got on finasteride. No growth and hair got worse. Turns out It was because of my night shift making me vitiman D deficient. Got on 5000 UI of D3 and staryed micro needling with topical finasteride and my hair is finally growing back. Id love to see your Dr. take on Vitiman D and Iron deficiency and how it relates to hair loss.

I agree with this. Knowing your triggers can help you reverse hair loss. I am on my way of restoring my norwood 7 naturally of over a decade understanding this. I now help men get their high school hair line back on my channel no matter the scale of loss...

Isn't there a blood test for determining whether you'll respond to minoxidil?

No, it's not. Those deficiencies don't cause MPB and most people with a varied diet are not deficient anyway.

Great conversation. Interesting that you don't feel a DHT test gives an indication as to whether finasteride is working. So if someone has an extremely low serum DHT test result, could they still have an extremely high scalp dht? How do you feel about scalp DHT tests? You wouldn't recommend that either since you think the issue is contained in the hair follicle and not on the scalp?

Blood tests can predict side effects. If someone has estrogen that’s already out of range, will taking finasteride cause more estrogen effects on the body? It’s possible. In that case in may be wise to prescribe an AI alongside your 5AR inhibitor. Thoughts?

That will depend on other factors like your body weight, nipple pain , weight gain
