Great video explaining whats and hows of Minoxidil. I began using 5% foam around 5months ago and switched to 10% and 2% azelaic acid after 3 months. I have to say I noticed more shedding when I switched to higher dosage but I assumed it's because of stronger dosage. However, now I understand that it might be due to the fact that currently I'm using a cream/lotion based solution. I think it's less effective in reaching the scalp and when I wash it I can still see a lot of it just remaining on my scalp. At this point, I think I'm going to go back to foam and abandon higher dosage as well.

As someone who has finally accepted that I am losing my hair, this channel has come at a great help. Upon advice from a hair treatment centre I was offered a "super strong" 10% dosage for triple the price. Hearing 5% is perfectly fine and 10% only marginally makes more of a difference has probably saved me hundreds if not thousands depending on long I intend to use this product for. Hopefully it works as I start my journey and thank you again, you have got a new subscriber!

Any results? Been slowly losing my hair. At the moment it is ok and I can camp my hair to look nice. However forehead is getting thinner so started to use finasterid as a preventative measure maybe 8 months ago. Seems and feels like that this is not enough to stop the thinning. At the moment I feel like will get a hair transplant if needed. However decided that now is time to test different stimulants and I guess minoxidil is the first on the list.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, but thought I'd give an update. So after 8-9 months of using topical Minoxidil, I've noticed A LOT of baby hairs growing. They're about 1-5 inches now. It's kinda annoying that there's a lot of baby hairs sticking out or a lot of fly aways in my hair, but I'm thankful coz it's a sign that Minoxidil works in regrowing my lost hair. There's definitely a shedding phase at the start, and it's really scary. Mine went on for like idk 3 months or so? And my hair shed in CLUMPS! I honestly I got a bit discouraged. But after just powering through it, the shedding is significantly less now. I say 'less', because I still do shed. Though I think it's just the natural 50-60 strands or so in a day. I won't lie and say I've been on it everyday. I probably miss a day or two here and there because life can get away and I can sometimes forget. Oh, and there were side effects for me too. At one point, I got flaky, itchy scalp and dandruff from it. But I countered that with Ketoconazole, followed by oiling the mids and ends because anything antidandruff could really dry up the hair. So that's my experience so far. I'll continue using Minoxidil since I've seen it's effect on me. Of course, experiences may still vary from one person to another. Hope it works for y'all too!

Amazing that you explained it can be used once a day and still be effective! I quit using minoxidil after a year bc it was so difficult to stay up on applying twice a day! I plan to go back on it immediately now knowing this!

Hi, I love your show and you two give some very valuable information! I'm about to start Finasteride and I have a question for which I haven't been able to find an answer: If I start Finasteride and Minoxidil at the same time and then start getting hair regrowth thanks to Minoxodil, will Finasteride maintain the new hair if I decide to stop Minoxidil? Considering both have been taken long enough for the effects to take place. Thanks a lot and looking forward to your comment!

Thank you for this video. Been using minoxidil for 2-3yrs, been loosing hair since 19 yrs old. Used it when i was 21, I'm 24 now . i applied it once a day. did it grow my hair? No. Did it slow the balding process? Maybe. Is it worse now compare to previous year? Yes. My hairline is receding and my crown is balding. I'll try minoxidil with finasteride 1mg, 3 times a week as prescribed by these gentlemen, my goal here is preserve what remains on my hair, if it grows thicker then its a bonus. I'll be back in a year!

Outstanding content! Is the combination of both blockers and stimulators the topic of a podcast episode yet to come? I heard that hair that was regrown with minoxidil must be continiously treated with it and won't be stable with only finasteride once minoxidil treatment is stopped. Is that correct? Thanks so much!

You guys are the best @ The Hair Loss Show. Keep up the good work! Quick question about Minoxidil, what kind of effect would it have if the doctor has asked you to use 8% Minoxidil after a HT Surgery mostly on the vertex area? I have heard minoxidil creates a dependency and once you stop using it you will loose your gains, is it applicable for the transplanted hair as well on the vertex area? How will I know if my HT surgery was a success after 6 months or if the results I am seeing are because of Minoxidil? Your opinion is highly valued. Please let me know if its safe to use minoxidil on transplanted hair and that it will be ok after I stop using it after 6 months and this temp use will only help in speeding up the growth of my transplanted hair and not create a dependency on minoxidil forever if I have to keep my new hair. FYI I had around 2500 Grafts implanted on the Vertex and around 500 on my frontal hairline. Thank You for your time.

Thank you as always for the advice! I've been utilizing Minoxidil for over a year and a half now (primarily via the liquid form, which caused excessive flaking, so have since switched to foam with far less side effects) and have noticed a thin layer of short vellus-type hairs at the application sites (at least on forehead). They are rather white, while the rest of my longer standard hair is quite dark-- do you believe these small non-colored hairs can develop into the full length terminal hair? Thank's again!!

Excellent videos and explanations. It gets me thinking about why this level of information isn't available for every treatment. I'm going through all the series that you put out. I've got a question though about this video,, the instruction for minoxidil usually mentions only using it if you have vertex or central balding rather than balding from the front. Why is this and can it still technically be used for frontal balding or can this do more damage than good? EDIT: I have seen the answer to my question on the comments but I have another. What is your opinion on the relatively new treatment trioxidil, is that the same as minoxidil? It seems to be targetted at thinning rather than central balding.
