Relentless Hike To This 1870's Ghost Town (Part 1)
Where to start, where to start.. I've had this ghost town and the cabins that I've visited on my radar ever since I first heard of their existence approximately 5 years ago. Alot of research, planning, route finding, personal trip accounts, and packing made this trip possible. And the company of my buddy Johnny who if he wasn't along with me I honestly don't think I would have made it this time around. Now on to the trip: started out by driving in and started a little late hiking up the wash around 11 in the morning. Our goal for the day was to get to the first cabin by nighttime but that didn't happen. We made it to the 11,000 foot peak the next day and the cabin as well as some other ruins along the way. Ran out of water before getting to the cabin so that hindered our efforts a bit, but found a very old well with many original artifacts in place. These first two days were just the beginning, so stay tuned for Part 2! Hope you guys enjoy this series.

I USED TO DO WHAT YOU GOOD BOYS ARE DOING WELL OVER HALF A CENTURY AGO…..BUT….I’M 83 NOW AND CAN NO LONGER DO THIS. ENJOY YOUR YOUTH AND MAKE GOOD USE OF TIME. PAST TIMES ARE NOT REPEATABLE. MANY THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS!!!!!
I like how you leave everything the way you found it.
That's a Bristlecone Pine Tree there @ 11:15. It's probably 3000 years old as it stands. 😮

It’s gorgeous
Someone did a good keeping the old cabin looking nice, putting all the old artifacts on the shelves, and by putting a new roof on it saving it from total destruction.

Looking forward to part 2! My brother and I and two guys from where I worked hiked in there back in the 70s. I don't remember what year, but we hiked in over Thanksgiving weekend and it was really cold. We came the opposite way you did. I had a 1968 Land Cruiser and my friend from work had 1972 Bronco and we 4 wheeled up to around 10,000 feet and spent the first night at the Burgess mine. Started the hike early the next morning. If I remember correctly we hiked, climbed, and explored for three full days before getting back to the vehicles. It was grueling, but everyone later said it was the best adventure they'd ever been on. I always enjoy your videos, but these will be extra special and bring back lots of great memories. Thanks, Pardner.

A 1968 Land Cruiser! Do you by any chance still have it?

@@cdd4248 No. Unfortunately not. It was a great off-roader, built like a tank. I logged a lot of exciting miles in that thing. In the roughly forty years since I took it on the backpacking trip I've owned at least fifteen different 4X4s. Various Jeeps, Scouts, Broncos, Blazers, pickup trucks..., you name it.All of them good. These days my ride is a 2018 Toyota 4Runner Off Road Premium. It's a great vehicle and I love it.

I’m pretty surprised to see relics from recognizable names like Ingersoll-Rand and Permatex. Good old school American supplies!
wow! super impressed that you made it up there - you are one of a VERY small group of people who have dared to hike into that area. props man!
Your "ground-packer" is a McCleod - a tool used in fire-fighting you can chop with the blade side, hoe with the tined side (like a rake). Also used for clearing brush & trail-building.
Nice work. That was the richest mining district in Inyo County, and also the hardest to get to. I'd bet there is some rich ore discarded in the dumps, since every thing was visual. A detector would be nice. Safe travels
Your best explore yet, in my opinion. I know exactly where this is, but at 70 years old, I don’t think I could make the hike.
Cool cabin. Those tin rectangle shape containers back at the water, looked like side tanks for mule skinners. One on either side of the mule. Most likely for water. Great explore. Looking forward to the next.
Awesome that's a hella ruck, but well worth it! Just think of those guys that originally hauled all that kit up there! wow!
Nice show, long hike, the other mine explorers whould have died making the hike
is Jonny the same chap that has climbed mines with Brent at Cerro Gordo - he gets about a bit a well deserved dip while walking is bright sunshine - must be pretty special to come across running water on the surface amazing countryside, the mountains look hard going, steep and traitorous under foot with all the broken surface, a recipe for twisted and broken ankles thats a hell of a hike you both took - you have to wonder at some of the artefacts, that water pump, someone had to hump that heavy item up that mountain always impressed by your videos and your knowledge, interest in mining
The waterfall is worth the whole trip. Great video!
After watching Johnny on ghost town living he would be my first choice for mines and hiking
In the volunteer cabin, that "S" shaped handle was the handle to a coffee grinder. And what you called a bed frame looks more like a Shaker Table used to sift through mineral bearing ore. Back at the water well, those large rectangular cans with hooks on them were actually a way to bring down water to the camps. The hooked one can on each side of a mule or donkey on the pack saddle frame. But I bet not many hike up to that cabin much. Did the cabin have a log book? It looked like the roofing on the cabin was fairly brand new. Looked like a difficult hike. Would it have been easier going up from the other side of the ridge, instead of the side where you parked your vehicle?
I’m really happy to see you guys going out and exploring like this. Reminds me of when I was younger. This is one of those things you’ll look back on in 20 or 30 years and be so grateful you did it.
Hey brother awesome work making it up there. This is a very special spot. If it all possible, please refrain from disclosing the lat long. Obviously it’s a multi-day endeavor on horrible terrain to safely get in and out. Just want to be able to bring my kids to this place and have it still be standing and not ruined or vandalized.

I doubt that anyone willing to make the "damned near impossible" trek up there will not be the type to destroy or mis-use it in any way . When you say "kids" , I hope you mean adult children . This is no place for children .
These videos usually make things look way less steep than they are but that stuff looks pretty damn steep still. Hopefully this was a trip you will always remember
good job my brother ...thats what its all about ...getting out there while you can and enjoying it all ... that is some really cool finds my brother ...that was a block and tackle ....the square cans were filled with water and put on the back of pack mules ...imagine packing all that stuff up there .... thats an old Dutch oven lid ....thats a good looking Cabin ...someone has been taking care of that one ... that must have been some work getting that Cabin built up there .....you could move right in there and start mining ... that handle was the top of a coffee grinder ...question ios why is that cabin there ....should be a mine close by ....will be waiting for part 2 and we smashed that like button real hard like

😂Love it!!
thanks for the nice tour of the cabin - a very interesting mining museum - kudos and thanks to the many volunteers that prepared and maintain the museum all of us to enjoy
It’s nice seeing young guys like you hiking and exploring. I’m 75 and still at it, do it all from my motorcycle. Keep it up!
At one point there must have been a decent road up there in order for them to pack all that stuff up there. I know a lot of it they hauled up with mules or donkeys. But there must have been a road cut to get the ore out and down the mountain.. this video was amazing. The old timers were tough sons of bucks

Possible, but more than likely, as you say, mules and/or donkeys... As far as the ore goes, notice there was an arrastra to grind the ore. Primitive, but they work.
As always, another great video. So interesting, great footage, drone shots, photos of so many artifacts. Really enjoyed this longer video. Looking forward to part 2. Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure.

The rectangular water tanks went on a donkey or horse perhaps......
Killer video!!! Unreal how they got all that iron up on that mountain side.....🎸🎸🎸
Beautiful views on the hike. The cabin is really cold
I wonder how much Gold is in that. Dry creek wash??? Thanks for taking us on that trek out to that old miners Cabin I'm almost 70 so My doubts I could make it out there on my own, I Loved seeing all the old artifacts, I wonder what they ate while they were way out there, it doesn't look like ANY edible vegetation, I'm imagine flap Jack's, or biscuits n gravy. Maybe some mountain goat or venison, occasionally rattle snake, you would have to pack a lot of flour and lard, that grinder looked like a coffee grinder😊
Is that Johnny from early Ghost Town Living videos? Looks like him.

Thanks for taking us along.
Outstanding videos 1 & 2! 70 years old married 50 years raised 2 boys in the Nevada desert hunting, fishing and ghost town exploring. Now living by the ocean in Oregon. Loved your respect for everything around you, I could feel the wind and smell the sage. The 5-stamp mill was crazy packing the gear up there and setting it up. Thank you.
That’s one hike I’ll leave for you young people! Great video and thanks for letting us tag along as always! Really look forward to the rest of the series!
Oh hellyeah! Thank you very much for taking us with you on this expedition 👍 western mine detective 👍 Can't wait to see what you discover in the next part😮
Fine job Buddy. Very pristine place. They are getting further and farther between! Thank you and Regards from Ody Slim
Thanks for bringing me along on your hike. Exquisite scenery. I'm definitely looking forward to part 2.
Looks like you men had a great adventure. I’ve watched the entire video and it reminds me of my explorations in the Arizona desert. Thanks for sharing with us.
I’m starting my last year of life. I’ve spent decades chasing down North Cascades mines and even lowland mines. I even moved into an area known for coal and lumber camps from the 19th century. I want to see this mine. I’ve a little bit left in me. Where is it? I don’t spend much time going through all the videos to find locals. As you would likely agree time is not something I have to spare

Hello Sir, The name of this town is called “Beveridge”; it’s located high up in the Inyo mountains of California.
I hadn't noticed your use of a drone before this video - a useful addition to your toolkit
many nice finds of iron stove relics in very good condition at several locations along your route
Nice job, Jerith and Johnny. That's a very special place. Two thumbs up!👍👍
Really enjoyed this one (always enjoy all your explores) good to see artifacts collected by others and displayed for all to marvel at.
Fascinating. I love the scenery and all the old relics. Looking forward to Part II.
@17:59 The tanks hooked to the mules by the rings to the frame.
I am subscribed to a lot of channels and watch a ton of videos, but I look forward to your drops more than any other. Keep on truckin brother!
Fabulous video ..loved it and the peaceful Lovley voice narration ...
You score a perfect ten on this video. Top notch job. A big thanks.
Thank you. I appreciate your hiking adventures. I searched for the Savory and Sons, New York and found a waffle iron. The lid has a number (size?). I think that find is one of those waffle iron lids. Cool.
You should invest in a couple of this Life Straws, they'll filter any water you find and make it drinkable.
Enjoyed the video and the drone footage really added incredible views! Thank you for creating and taking this hike!
Amazing stuff! So glad to see that awesome cabin is being preserved.
great video!
Great video, such a cool location, loved that you filmed the hike in too. Be safe!
Impressive adventure 💪🏻✌️
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful, rugged country. Loved the cabin full of artifacts. So many stoves! Or at least parts of several.

Beveridge , not a cool drink .
Good job man. That was a great effort!
Great video, nice job
thanks for sharing👍👍
That was a mine not a well? those tanks were paniards for a horse for hauling water, with the clips still on them.
Wow, what a very nice cabin and especially the artifacts that are left in tact which is really nice. I hope to see your second video on the ghost town. Thanks for a great video.
Great explore guys. Like your long format. Looking forward to the next part!
awesome content, thank you
Thanks for the great video. Quite the hike.
What a hike! Nice find in the cabin. Thanks for posting.
I'm amazed by the places you find! Thanks for sharing them.
Great video you did. To be young again and being able to hike to those places be safe out there and god bless
Great video. History is awesome. Nice to find water out there.
By the way great video beautiful hike amazing scenery thank you very much
Great work by you guys, I enjoy your adventures greatly. Great scenery and educational.
New sub here, love these videos! I'm constantly amazed by what you can find in the deset-- I'm based in AZ and have been finding petroglyphs, ruins, old mines, its crazy! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for all your painstaking efforts. Very cool adventure. Fun stuff. 👍🙂🙏
Cool video love the vlog like along the way to get there. Crazy to think how you just leave your car like that but I guess it is the middle of no where haha.
I'm surprised there's no way to drive your jeep closer to where you where going. While hiking, I couldn't bring myself to leave my vehicle anywhere it wasn't protected or in my eyesight.
This kind of reminds me of hiking Mt. Whitney on the eastern side. I started solo but met up with a small 3 person group. Those views of the elevations were the best.
Incredible Video boys👍 that ancient Astara’ grinder is amazing ! So Rare to see that.
Man. That's a nice stove!
New subber here, awesome scenery and cabin. I'm a Treasure Hunter and relate to all of those cool relics ✅
Very cool channel thanks for sharing your hikes
Looks like an amazing hike.
The Ironwedge that you picked up is actually a log splitter. I’m laughing my ass off because most young people have no idea what that is. Lol
Single Jack is a small sledgehammer about 2-1/2 pounds.
At 29:54 that's a splitting wedge for splitting large logs for fire wood.
New subscriber here. I found your channel because several people mentioned this channel and video in the comments section of the recent Foresty Forest video in which he visited this same cabin. Kudos to you for this outstanding video! Really terrific job!! I especially appreciate the fact that you do not disclose the location to minimize visitation. If people want to find these places, they can do their own research. Thanks again!
Cool adventure! & that natural spring fed shower looked amazing ☆ Imagine how many people have used it back in time 🤔
Very cool stuff.
Great video guys... that's a rough ascent (I've done it. I'm a local). I really appreciate you guys not naming all the peaks and locations. Safe travels. 🤘🤘
This looks amazing. You earned a subscriber. I have watched your channel many times in the past year or two and love watching the mine videos. I have gone exploring for several mines and found a lot of cool artifacts but the mines where I am are lame. I'll have to go elsewhere to find exciting mines like the ones you find.
Hey, this one's for Johnny. Give me a call brotha. Gotta catch up. Looks like a great hike.
I hope you guys carry snake bite kits. Looks like you do your research. Good video guys.
Great lil video..but look,don’t touch..😉🤗
Amazing!
Huh. I'm familiar with the area but somehow that cabin escaped my notice until now. Great find.
Two boxes you found 18:25 .water boxes that mules would carry
