Beautiful finished piece. Buffy, how come you have those empty wells in your palette? Just focusing on a limited palette?

Thank you 🙏🏻- by only filling every other row, I was able to fill it with the 18 colors from my Daniel Smith Dot Card. The empty spaces give me mixing wells. I really like this set up 😍

@@watercolorpourI do the exact same thing, but mainly because I use my traditional Chinese brushes. I learned the hard way that I’m going to mess up a regular palette with colors right next to each other. My Chinese tutor sent me a set of 18 stackable dishes-just for my western paints, for Christmas. I haven’t set them up yet, my best friend is coming over to play tomorrow & we’ll set them up then! I LOVE those background colors! I think I’ll try it for my angel painting! I was telling my primary Chinese tutor about you and “pouring” the watercolors…she then said “oh, you mean like “x” (I didn’t catch the name, but it’s a modern Chinese artist), does with ink?” I had no idea it was even possible on xuan paper! (Absorbs too fast). She said Henry Li has an example of it…so no I need to go hunt that down. She said it makes some beautiful, realistic landscapes.
