Wow, Sam! Thank you for planning, packing, shopping, hauling, filming, harvesting wood, building a fire, cooking- and then having to work! That’s got to be rough. I very much enjoyed the peace of the river-and I am experiencing the exact weather and locale here in Montana! Camping with intermittent rain showers by the Bitteroot River. Best sleeping ever-but no work for me. I highly recommend retirement!

Good you had a first aid kit. Ideally carry that or carry turmeric powder in a small plastic bottle. Turmeric is great for such cuts and scrapes. Prevents it from getting infected and most of the times stops blood flow as well.

That meal would of been a slam dunk if you cooked some bacon in it while it was wrapped in foil then busted about 3 eggs in it when you melted the cheese..my German great grand mother would use red potato's that was boiled then refrigerated overnight then she would sliced them thin. She would fried the potato's in bacon grease with a little bacon then a couple eggs would be mixed in just before it was done! Since the potato's were pre cooked by boiling them it don't take very long to fry them up. Have a blessed Memorial weekend Sam.. Salute!

Love your content, Sam. Just a regular Joe fitting in some outdoor fun when he can. I would highly recommend getting an Opinel No 10 f as your food prep knife. Inexpensive, lightweight, and oh so slicey. That Garberg is just a little too thick to be good at food prep. Thanks for the video, and thank you Mrs. Bananas.

Yes sir! It's on the list absolutely. I've got a little swiss army knife at the moment I'm trying out, but I intend to get that Opinel.

Great spots for the rainy shoulder season, you can keep dry and have a fire for warmth and cooking. PS I knew that distinctive sound when dicing the veg, I have made it myself. Close calls will even bring out a whoop. Be well and stay safe.

Instead of using Bigfoot to light your fire, You can also use Dryer Lint with some with a little Petroleum Jelly. Its cheap and also makes your fire smell good if you are into that. I also love camping in A lean-to like your doing now.

Yep! I've done that in the past and also used birch bark. Great resources for starting fires.

Hey Sam , cut the fingers off a latex or nitrile glove and maybe bring some gauze . Wrap the cut with small amt of gauze , cover finger with the glove finger , one piece of tape holds it in place ! Easy piezy , great vid

14:00 mark. Your saving my life with your ideas Sam. 🙏🏻 I gotta do this on my bicycle trip. I got Kenda juggernaut sports today, and it's around the 4th I start. It's all about the tubes and solar and I'm rockin, I think. Being in the heart of the desert, I gotta choose my survival equipment differently.. but I'm going north where I'm more used to the conditions. I bet you'd have fun on a vacay to a dessert camping location. Thanks again for the great tips. Doesn't matter how much someone knows, it's the little things that save someone's life, like this meal and me remembering a quick way for a full meal on the go. Love ya bro.
