It's enough to make a grown man cry and its okay

I'm 31 and my grandfather is 80. He has dementia and stage 3 kidney disease. Tonight he didn't recognize me. This is a man I've looked up to my entire life. He gave me a love of science and history from a VERY early age. Always taking me to the Zoo and Houston Museum every few weekends when I was a kid. I've in turn, worked with kids for the last.... 12 years informally and about 5 formally. I always tell them about history and science. I have this 11 year old girl who I recommend a book to about the history of Rome. She LOVES history. I also showed her the science channel kurzgesagt. Last Friday she watched a video about the Dyson Sphere and the Stellar Engine (how to move a star). She loved them. Just one kid of.... a lot I've shared that passion with. I can name at least 70 I've played a positive impact on over the years, big and small. I guess a little bit of my grandfather lives on in those interactions. That's something not even dementia can take away from him. I got other issues right now, such as trying to find a job for my new CDL license. Interview on Tuesday morning and I'm hoping I get the job. Here's my motivational advice before I go. Focus on the positive, no matter how small. And know that you are loving, loved, and worthy of that love. Thanks for reading, stranger. I believe in you.

This music is wonderfully relaxing. I can easily switch off from everyday life I enjoy the peace and quiet around me and only listen to this great melody Thank you for this wonderful moment of relaxation

As the day comes to an end and darkness falls. It becomes your duty as the newest adventurer in this town to set the campfire and get ready for the nights libation. As you prepare your kindling and ready your match, you hear a tranquil voice accompanied by the soften strums of a lute. It’s been years since you’ve heard such a beautiful melody.. focused on your duty you smile and shake your head ready carry on building the fire. The song begins to play louder as the fire grows brighter. At the edge of the fires glow you see a silhouette, an outline of a feminine figure sitting on a stump. The song grows louder. You leave the fire to tend itself and walk towards the figure. But with each step, the figure moves further and further into the shadows. Until you turn your back and walk towards the flame.. a voice breaks through the melody. “Farok? Is… is. That you?” You find yourself frozen, a female.. with the voice of an angel… it couldn’t be. By the nine hells is this some kind of joke? You keep walking. The melody quiets. “Farok, it’s me..” instantly you turn around and see the most beautiful elven bard you’ve ever laid eyes on. Her form, not full, but spiritual in nature. You remember that you lost your childhood love in a tragic accident.. is this really her?! You vowed to never love again after she was taken. You’ve hardened your heart & adventured for years with a soul absent of love. This moment feels like a lifetime to you. Every emotion flooding back, every memory.. as the fire rages, most of the camp is outside by now enjoying meats and beverages. “Hey Farok! Watcha doin over there? At the edge of the fire? Come back to the party!” *an orcish barbarian yells* “yeah come on Farok! A tiefling paladin also shouts.” As you stand in awe, she’s gone. But not all of her is gone, what remains is her instrument and a letter that appears tucked into the chords of her lute. Have I gone mad? You wonder. You unfurl the letter and it reads “Deep in your heart there is room for love. I may be gone, but I promise I watch from above. As music is to the artist you will always be to me. My love Farok. My everything. So go forth, don’t let the past dwell, it’s my wish you continue to live, love, and inspire. Do it well. Until we can both sit at the fire again together. Burn bright.
