www.horsetrainingvideos.com/f... ...In this video, Larry Trocha trains a green colt (filly) on a cow. She’s only been on cattle a shot time so the training must be done carefully. This is the beginning stages of training a cutting horse on cattle… also reining & reined cow horses.
The above video is a short, edited clip taken from my online training course titled, “Cutting Horse Know How”:
The course is designed to teach how to ride, train, tune and show a cutting horse.

You are the best understated trainer around. I learn so much from watching your videos and I have been riding 40+ years. You can never stop learning from each other.

This made so much sense for me. That was such an informative yet simple video that explained so many things for me about fine tuning myself. Timing and position and RELEASE. My favorite new trainer

You really helped me understand the release better! I knew you were supposed to but I wasn’t quite sure about how and the right time. Thank you!

I know this is a very old video. But, I love the way you are explaining exactly the timing of everything that you are doing. I had the privilege of riding a wonderfully trained cutting horse many years ago. With him, as soon as he knew which cow, he could do it by himself. LOL It's really cool to see how they actually get started with doing it.

This is a great video Larry. Thanks for posting it. I really like how you show us HOW to cue the horse, what is the right way to ride while working a cow, and what is the wrong way.

Thanks Larry I enjoyed this. When you say "turn the head outside leg" do you mean pushing at the cinch, behind the cinch or in front of the cinch? I was watching carefully and couldn't tell because you are pretty subtle. Thanks, Nan Kelly

Mr. Larry I’m new at the horse world my question it’s if I will like to start my horse on the cutting discipline do I need to separate them from the cow fields or can they run together specially during the winters? Does that ruin the horse?

I’ve been watching and learning as much as I can. I love the way you train. I’ve been struggling with my mare trying to get her soft and it isn’t going so well. Im not sure what else I can do. I play your videos while I ride to make sure I’m doing it correctly. I just don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.

Hi Lisa, don't feel bad. You're in the same boat as a lot of folks. I understand your frustration. I've seen it in most non-pros. However, right now, I'm going to tell you EXACTLY what you're doing wrong... and how to fix it. Here it is... you aren't using your hands, legs and body the way you THINK you are. If you'll video yourself (put your phone on top of a fence post) you'll see that. One other thing... go to my website and download the free Top Rider Training Manual. It'll help.

Hi Nan, at the cinch where your leg normally hangs. Of course, I'm assuming you are riding a saddle which is designed right.
