Facts. It gave southern artists a chance to show their versatility as well. The labels were so disconnected from the streets and what they wanted to hear from their artists. I used to struggle to get ppl to understand Fab was not a “female rapper” but his other mixtapes were too “east coast” for their taste. When they heard Fab gangsta grills they finally got what I was sayin that Fab at his core is a street rapper. Or that southern artists (some) wasn’t just “ same color as a…or look like a” punchline rappers.

They spent money with a lot of people who had businesses. They tipped everyone well and made everyone feel comfortable. I never went out thinking I was gonna get killed if they was in the club. You came with respect and they gave it even if they didn't know you. No one was trippin back then because everyone was good.

They tried to take the drops off of the songs? Those drops set the tone for those songs. Never met anyone who was like I wish I could have this song without the drops on it.
