Facts. It gave southern artists a chance to show their versatility as well. The labels were so disconnected from the streets and what they wanted to hear from their artists. I used to struggle to get ppl to understand Fab was not a “female rapper” but his other mixtapes were too “east coast” for their taste. When they heard Fab gangsta grills they finally got what I was sayin that Fab at his core is a street rapper. Or that southern artists (some) wasn’t just “ same color as a…or look like a” punchline rappers.

I happened to be in Magic City one night when BMF was in there. This was about 1yr before Trap or Die came out and seen Jeezy at the time, didn't know who he was. He was sitting on stage with all kinds of bottles around him and was throw money over his shoulder to the dancers. The dances and other folks was coming to him to get drinks. I live bout 3 to 4 hours(driving) away in Tennessee and never experience something like that. I've been around dudes that get money all my life and the dude I was with that get money was amazed. They actually didn't intimidate anyone or kill anyone in Atlanta that wasn't out to get them first. They was like Robin Hood to the average person. They wanted to see the whole city look good. They spent money with a lot of people who had businesses. They tipped everyone well and made everyone feel comfortable. I never went out thinking I was gonna get killed if they was in the club.
