I feel his pain. I was young & reckless. Dropped out of school at 13/ 7th grade, & was basically running the streets unhinged, & my poor mother couldn’t do anything about it. One day these two ladies came to my crib, woke me out my sleep & told me they were there to pick me up. I told them “smd” & went back to sleep. When I was awaken again they had came back with the police & some guy. I was forced to leave with them & while on my way to the group-home I hopped out the car when they stopped at a red light. I stood out all night & when I finally came home my mom basically rocked me to sleep saying she wasn’t going to let them take me. Two hours later I was back in that car with a police escort. Once I arrived to the group-home called “Pleasantville” I was not happy. I felt betrayed, let down, sold out. My mom signed away her rights to the state & basically made me their problem. Shit was alright, I got along with everyone but I had problems with the psychiatrist & he shipped me out to worse place called “Stony Lodge”. Again, shit was smooth, everyone was cool, but I just couldn’t get along with the doctors & shit like that. Lucky for me, I still had my pops in my life. & being that he didn’t sign anything he was going to court to fight for my freedom from these places. I was set to stay there till 18. & my father did everything possible to get me out. Finally, 6 months in they released me since he still had his parental rights. I love my mom. & when she passed away 5 years ago while I was incarcerated it was probably the toughest situation I had to go through mentally, physically & emotionally, & though I understand the position she was in, it took me years to forgive her for that betrayal. I don’t even think she understood what that did to me mentally, & it was hard to trust her again. Like I said, I completely understand. I was out of control, & maybe, I would’ve ended up worse had she not put the brakes on me at the time. But me personally, I would never do that to my kid. Even though shit was cool for the most part, a lot of fucked up shit happens in these places. A lot of abuse, a lot of power trips & provocations to justify what they do to you. Kids who got out of line would get stomped out, & if they couldn’t get extremely physical with you then they would drug you out. I got into a fight with a staff member & was put in a closet like padded room with a slot for the food for like 2 weeks. Shit had me so fucked up, that there wasn’t a moment I didn’t think of escaping. The one time I attempted to escape I got caught 20 miles & 10 hours later, & when I got back they had me in boxers & a towel to prevent another attempt. Shit was difficult on me mentally. I took it like a champ but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t affect me in ways I can still see today. All in all, never give up on your kids. Even when shit gets thick, find another way because that way ain’t the way. Stay blessed & powerful

When you have a childhood that's anything BUT normal, it does something to you. It either makes you head strong or it breaks you. I loved listening to him tell his story. As a kid it's brutal and feels like it's never gonna end. As an adult you reflect and it's almost like you can't believe the things you had to endure. We're not victims. We don't want a pity party. We're survivors that have a unique story to tell. Some of us are open to talk about and others refuse to speak about it. Some even block it out but they have a strange sense that something in there past wasn't right.

Sounds like moms wasnt too worried about her son for him to get to that point. At least HE had his dad. Most of us arent even that lucky. He deserves all his success for that traumatization.

Respect to this young rapper /producer. Great story and example of talent and hard work, the grind. I was unaware that this was the fella that Maino slapped then later changed his stage name. He was mature enough to admit that he approached Maino in totally the wrong way. He payed the price. Glad it's all peace and love between everybody now.

This is crazy because my cousin went through this. It’s like the person died, one minute their here and the next you never hear from them for months to years. My cousin got back and was never the same . Parents think it’s fixes the kids but it doesn’t it makes it worse. And on top of that your in a racist town . They put you in school with racist kids as a black kid. and you can’t socialize with anyone . And they beat the kids in there. The stories my cousin told me smh . Shit is awful I’m sorry Hit went through that.

I used to live in west Birmingham, Al (iykyk) I was running a thrift shop and got two kids I always seen outside gas station to work for me, the youngest one was 16, and he told me he got in trouble when he was younger, and his mom sent him to a "behavioral" camp, he told me he wore a shock bracelet, wasn't allowed to talk unless they told him and did manual labor all day. Like scrubbed tiles with toothbrushes. He only told me about it because I was screaming at him and he was just like frozen and wouldn't respond and I kept gettin mad because he wouldn't talk and he said it was because of his conditioning wearing that shock bracelet

I was in a juvenile bootcamp called Arizona Boys Ranch. In Queen Creek AZ. It was a hands on program. Meaning,by state law the staff members can put hands on us!!!. I never got punched or kicked, but I've had numerous incidents where I was picked up and tossed across the room. Shoved into filing cabinets. Digging trenches from sun up to sun down,in 120° Temps. Bear crawling 5/100 yard suicides.. Having to walk through corn 🌽 fields. While their in bloom. You'd come out on the other end covered in mud and pollen!! That's just a short list 📃. I was there from: 1/17/1996 Till:8/01/1998. The reason,a new kid that was hard to "break" was giving staff a hard time So they took him out to one of the many fields and made him P.T(Physical training) Any ways, it's brutal. But after so long,he collapse. Come to find out he was sick that's the reason he was so defensive and defiant. He had to get life flighted. Died on the way to the hospital. He had fluid in his lungs. But they kept pt'ing him!!. So once the cat was out if the bag, every state that sent juveniles there were slowly exited out .(San Diego CA.the state took us back on 8/01/98)(released us to outr parents that day) True story
