She does the talky part and then she goes into full vibrato and it's just so beautiful

to fill you in, this is THE BEST singer out there. at least in my opinion. you just have to listen to more of her songs because I am about 95% sure that you will be hooked. and if you didnt figure it out already, her name is Regina Spektor.

jeff's hallelujah gives me shivers from the beauty and haunting qualities of his voice. Leonard is a genius and he draws me into his magical world. Regina you did a wonderful cover of this song. heart felt and genuine. Every person who covers this song brings their life energy, experiences into it and create something amazing each time.

I love that crisp sense of anticipation in her voice. Makes her sound so angelic.

I'm not Jewish, but they are so many incredible Jewish artists who baffle me... In my eyes, Hallelujah is one of the best songs ever written. Beautiful mythical imagery from the Hebrew scriptures applied to the most personal, individual human emotion: love. Well done Leonard, well done Regina.

What I like the most about this particular cover is that is literally defines and emphasizes the questions and the assumptions and for some reason it really brings out the anger and sadness that reflects the entire song and at the same time it displays also a subtle feel too.. so, yes in simple language I love this version

the thing about this song, is the instrumental accompaniment. The stringed instruments, give it such flavor a vivacity. It goes wonderfully with her voice, dainty and wispy. She's found the perfect combination. Superb job Regina Spektor!

For those who are new to Regina Spektor: Welcome. Welcome to our World. REgina's world, where souls are healed and hearts mended by this beautiful, quirky, special woman's voice.

She's indisputably versatile. She could approach this song and dozens others infinitely at ease. It was rough, yeah, but brilliant to hear her potential and her voice capture this with innocuous confusion. I'm sure if she were to have done or were to do a studio version of this, that it'd be beyond immaculate.

Hallelujah has been 'discovered' by the British public ever since it appeared on the X Factor or something, so I've been checking out some cover versions. I'd forgotten this one by Regina, but listening to it again, there's no question that it's the best. Unlike most singers, she gets the lyrics. Her voice, always so capable of showing emotion, is the perfect medium for a profound and easily misunderstood song. I wish she would release it on an album or on iTunes.
