Reggie Wright Jr. on Mexicans Controlling Compton 70-30, Ratio Used to Favor Blacks 80-20 (Part 13)

Ойын-сауық

Watch Full Interview: • Reggie Wright Jr. & Mo...
Part 14: • Mob James on Being Aga...
Part 12: • Mob James on His Daugh...
Part 1: • Reggie Wright Jr. & Mo...
--------
In this clip, Reggie Wright Jr. and Mob James discuss the changes in Compton that they've seen over time. They touch on how the territory was predominantly Black at 80-20 in the past but now sees a Mexican majority at around 70-30. Reflecting on their past, the men express nostalgia for the days when there was a stronger sense of respect and order in the neighborhood. James believes the increase in substance abuse and a shift in societal norms, such as attending church, may be contributing to Compton's struggles. He further noted a rise in senseless violence, driven by a rise in substance abuse. Wright Jr. acknowledged a change in power dynamics, attributing it to the increased influence of Mexican families in the locality. Both feel a longing for a return to community values and respect they believe ruled their neighborhoods in the past.

Same for my old neighborhood in Pacoima Ca. Many decades ago the ratio was about 50/50 with Blacks and Mexicans. However today it’s 98% Mexican and 2% Blacks. According to Gallup Pole, in the 1970’s Church attendance was at around 75%. Today in 2024 Church attendance is at 35%. I think there is a direct correlation on why the world has become darker in the last 10 years. A Godless dark society with less church attendance, less church fellowship and less prayer resulting in lost world.

Crime has been ona consistent decline since then. The 70s - 90s were FAR more violent, and it’s not even close. LA, Chicago, it’s not even comparable the amount of murder, etc. Chicagos worst year is 1974. LA worst year is 1992. And that’s just what they have on File. It was WAY easier for things to go undocumented back then because there wasn’t this advanced forensics. Things have gotten LESS violent. The only difference now is that there are cameras everywhere, and everyone is a news reporter.

I would say instead of God and prayers, how about technology and critical thinking? I think God had plenty of time to show up and make everything nice, but he didn't. Use logic, is it worth it to claim a "set" for a couple of years and go to jail for life or die? Is it worth it to rob someone over a gold chain, and can potentially kill him if he resists and now you're in jail for life for a g**damn $1000 gold chain?

This is why I hate this generational bs of the elders talking down on the youth, because they downplay the fact that their generation played a major role in why the youth of today don’t have the same family and community structure that they grew up with. California was Mexico and anyone eho denies it are only hating. The proof is in all the city names and street names are pronounced in Spanish. Even the word Los Angeles is pronounced in spanish and anywhere you go you can see the Spanish culture all over California. Im just speaking facts but for some reason people get offended by the truth. Im not even Mexican but I give them their props as the truth cant be denied.

You’re right. But Spanish names indicate Spain’s rule, not México’s. For example, Florida, Trinidad, and Jamaica have towns with Spanish names, but it’s not because of Mexico. It’s Spain. The native Mexican language isn’t Spanish.

Nobody denies it was mexico but suggesting that people are coming back to reclaim their historic land is misleading. People come to California because it's part of the United states not in spite of it. If California was its own country people would still migrate from California to the US in mass because the US is the most powerful country in the world.
