Oh wow i had no idea Grenadian snacks or that similar to Brazilian snacks! Guava Cheese and Tamarind balls are fantastic. You can also have Guava Cheese on some regular white cheese for a desert called "Romeu and Juliet" which is fantastic. You can also have a version of Guava Cheese made from Banana too. Now i'm wondering if Woolie ever had Java Plums too.

04:05 that one is also popular in Brazil. Careful how much you take though. Gotta keep those electric powers under control...
@PurplesttCoffee

If electric powers come from goiabada, does it mean that our double jumps were granted by açai?
We have Tamarind Candy Balls in The Philippines too. What is up with Island nations and Tamarind Balls? 😂 we call the fruit Sampaloc. We also use it for cooking a sour broth pork or fish stew called Sinigang.
Guayabita, ironically enough, actually does go GREAT with cheese.
Woolie really dropping the good shit. Tamarind balls, guava cheese and kiss cake damn the nostalgia hitting me like a brick right now.
Maddentown delicacies. Also, pair that guava candy with a nice manchego cheese.
Foodie Vs
3:40 but for real in the Dominican Republic eating guava candy with salty queso de hoja (leaf cheese) is delicious
I know Reggie isn't wholesome all the time but I can relate to this Reggie. Just enjoying snacks giving super widened energy.
This video is not sponsored by the Granada Tourism Authority BUT IT SHOULD BE
It is interesting to see how much overlap there is in the islands when it comes to slang and foods. In Barbados we grow up on on the same stuff, and get "sugar" at the same rate probably lol
bro I used to eat ripe tamarinds raw back home cus there used to be a tamarind tree that grew in our neighbors backyard. shit was soo good I'm watering from the mouth right now.
Not sure how similar they are but hearing him describe it reminded me of a Mexican treat I'd have as a kid called guava dulce, which was homemade kind of like jello paste but thick and tart
It's a shame snacks like the tamarind balls are so hard to get in NA because doing anything to preserve them to be anything resembling shelf stable ruins them. Every now and then you'll get lucky at an international grocery store or a food truck or something, but you're never gonna find shit like this in a Safeway.

I know my grocery store has just the tamarind fruit in the import section pretty reliably, and pretty sure fresh guavas, if the recipes really are as simple as Woolie says, I think I’m gonna try making my own. Probably should see if they have some premade too to compare against.

costco has tamarind balls where I am at.
Here in Chile thanks to Colombian imports we began receiving a lot of fruity locally made candy that like comes in these huge jars and are wrapped individually and people in the corner stores sell it to you by the unit So far the Guayaba cheese squares are the absolute best shit I've ever tasted, we live in a thin country that basically has every ecosystem but we still lack some climate for some tropical fruit and I never in my life had tasted something so damn tasty Is like quince (or membrillo as we call it) cheese but even more tart and firm, incredible
I’ve never heard of tamarind balls, but I do know that tamarind is a specific flavor of Jarritos (a mexican soda for those who don’t know)
@TomatoAbe

I only know what tamarind tastes like because I tried that soda! It was good!
Oooh, that's why Reggie speaks French, cause he's from Haiti. Now it makes sense.
I’ve been waiting for this day to come as a Grenadian 😂😂 We’re gonna have to get you some corn curls, coconut turnover, currant roll and potato pudding to round out the Grenadian snacks… maybe some kurma?💪🏽
Ohhhh guava slaps so much dude. Tried the fresh stuff in Hawaii when I was a teenager and now whenever I see guava anything I have to try it. I’m lucky to live in a place with a lot of Asian markets that carry guava candy or pastries.
@johnrivers3813

Hopefully I remember to try that the next time I go to my Asian market
"The sugars"
Never had Tamarind balls, but i love fresh tamarind juice. In my country we eat guava cheese (without the sugar covering) together with slices of white cheese. We call is Romeo and Juliet.
Funny thing that they call it guava cheese, as a colombian we eat a lot of guava AND cheese together, especially in breads where we have both.
Woolie ingesting sugar, let the night terrors begin!
Man we have this in St. Lucia too, Just seeing the thumbnail. lit a spark of nostalgia. It's also kind of nuts how these spread around the islands.
when he said cheese i thought cheddar cheese and guava paste on a ritz cracker
fun fact these are not exclusive to Grenada they are also made in Cuba do to Spaniard colonization where cuba was used as a big farming just about everything thus making them native to that area aswell.
If Guava cheese works the same way as Quince cheese does from europe then that shit would go WILD on some sour crumbly white goat cheese.
"NATO don't know what the fuck these are" They have tamarind in Mexico, part of NA and, well, NATO. The spicy commercial kind was probably mexican or mexican inspired, lol. It's the shit. You get the handmade sugary ones rather than spicy in Colombia as well, though in string shape instead of balls. That "guava cheese" is also totally a huge thing in Colombia, too, it's called bocadillo, AND people often have it with cheese, too. The real good bocadillo is the one that sits for a while wrapped up in dried plantain or bijao leaves. Interesting to see the overlap between Grenada and the northern tip of south america. Stuff like bocadillo might be easier to find at a hispanic market or something in NA rather than something specific from Grenada.
I’d like Woolie and Reggie trying other countries stuff, wish to see their reactions to chicken salt or musk sticks
This is so wholesome, and I want guava SO DAMN BAD.
You're brave for asking your mom for a kiss cake. I used to love those when I younger but that stuff is way to sweet for me now.

Maaaaan. One of my friends' dad made kiss cake for us when we were kids once and I SWEAR I contracted diabetes right then and there.
We also have these in Barbados, tamarind balls are amazing. Kiss cakes though, are diabetes incarnate. Hardly buy them anymore but that's my childhood right there.
i want to try all of these. thanks to you two, im now addicted to beef patties!😆

Guava, is known as Guayaba in Latin America. It's good for jams
Watching Reggie wipe his hand with the candy bar wrapper around 2:40 mark just made me feel uncomfortable, it also reminds me I have no kitchen roll in the house.
Are you out of your mind? Twinkies taste like bland chemicals.
You know they the real deal when the plastic bag tied in a knot😂
i use to eat tamarins straigh off the tree back in haiti
Woolie would enjoy a lot of Mexican and Latin American candies. They’re all similar or share similar characteristics and flavors.
Request to give a certain Italian who's been recently eating worldly foods these treats
Tamarind tastes like sour plum. I live on the West Coast United States. I can find the homemade stuff in a lot of stores.
Had a mexican friend bring me tamarind candy from mexico once. It's such a great combination of sour and sweet, it's like crack to me.
Guava is being wasted up here in Canada. 😢
I don't know much about Grenada, but I am from Martinique one of the neighbour islands. If Grenadian snacks are anything like what we have it's all GOD TIER Guava Cheese and Guava Juice? It doesn't get better than that....
We have guava cheese in brasil but we call it goiabada, since goiaba is the fruit name, looks like the same, but they make it more solid here by putting more sugar, we eat it with cheese as well
Crackle Crackle
We got tamarind based candy in Mexico.
Watching Reggies eyes dart around as soon as he tried the guava cheese I knew it was fire
guava cheese + normal cheese is godlike
Thank God I'm watching this while eating. Yum.
Woolie, have you ever had tastee kakes? Its a regional thing out here on the east coast u.s. and it absolutely fucks the ass off a twinkie or little debbie.
Jugo Tamarindo. I'm craving now
Mm memories
Tamarind juice can also relieve sore throat
i used to also live in the Carribean and seeingthe kiss cakes made me call my mom
Tamarind balls are incredible. We also have them in Guatemala.
Tamarind on the right food is amazing. A curry chicken or shrimp roti with tamrind? Crack
When woolie grabbed that bag, I assumed tamarind balls were a strain of weed and his mom just brought him an ounce or something
Get reggie some cassava pone and Kiss cakes are from Trinidad and Tobago.
Guava Cheese is the fucking best dude. I bought it one time bc the name alone confused me, and the whole box was gone in like 2-3 days at the latest Also I think the best way to describe it would be the fudge-equivalent of a fruit leather strip
We got some Guava cubes at the tiemdas Latinas. Hot some for friends they defs felt the sweetness
Sometimes I'll have a block of raw tamarind paste in the fridge and bite off it because I love tart flavor
nightmare candy
