I can't explain it. Somehow the music came from P6 has more natural flow. The SL1200 music timing is more precise but feels robotic. It may be something to do with characteristic of the speed fluctuation between belt and direct drive turntables.

Sounds darned close listening to this video through speakers. Im interested in the arm setup you have on the technics. I have both turntables in the house and they are definitely not as close as yours sounds. Good job on the video, liked the music as well

Rega in person by a long shot. Rega in this video but much closer. The rega arm sounds great on the 1200. To me it sounds like the arm and same cartridge really do close the gap. For me, i love having the replaceable headshell for trying new carts. This audio technica cart is now on my radar.

they both sound remaarkably similar. I guess its because both are using Rega tonearms.

Isn't it funny how we all hear things different? To me the Technics sounds way more interesting and real, more substance and groove, more like the real thing with instruments with body and soul, especially with the second track. To me, the Rega has more of an ethereal, distant and relaxed sound. The Rega pulls out more detail, is technically on a higher level but it has to since it is way more expensive than the 1200 MK2 was, so I think it's not quite a fair comparison. Would be fair to pit the Planar 6 against the 1200GR.

Putt a poor recording on and the technics turntable wins for sure the p6 is better but a good 50 percent of recordings are poor and they sound very listenable on a technics you don't get that with a rega I've owned both at the same time and I use the technics much more
