I do really enjoy the RP1 Plus! The sound and look is great. There is if i am correct not any difference between the RP1 and RP1 Plus except for the built in pre-amp in the RP1 Plus.

@@hi-fihaven2257 Yeah if you are already running a P1 through a pre-amp you don't really need a plus. I beleive the pre-amp built in to it is also Rega's cheapest one (it still has awards and top ratings in it's price bracket, though. Rega know what they are doing, obviously).I'm just poor and lazy.

@@timbaas It's not called the RP1, that was the older model. This is the Planar 1.

I have this turntable. Love it. Initially I had some hum from the unit but connected a wire from my amp’s ground to the left rca - outer part - and instantly removed all hum 👍

@@fabiorubensendim6346 hi. I just used a very basic piece of speaker cable (low quality is fine). As long as there is a good connection between the deck and ground on the amp it should work. This is what I did and it was instantly gone. Best of luck!

Please provide the exact depth of the Rega Planar 1Plus turntable with the cover open and the distance from the front of the turntable's front legs.

Hell of an upgrade from one of those cheap Ion's!

Very true! The difference in build and sound quality is amazing. The old Ion was also damaging my records.

Dag Tim, weetje toevallig wat ongeveer de prijs is van de reguliere P1 tegenwoordig? En is een acrylic platter een handige upgrade voor deze turntable of niet?

Hi Luuk, Volgens mij is de prijs van de RP1 op dit moment nog steeds €369. Ik weet niet of de motor sterk genoeg is voor een zwaardere acrylic platter. De RP2 komt natuurlijk wel met en acrylic platter. Indien het mogelijk en niet te duur is lijkt het mij een mooie upgrade voor deze platenspeler.

@@timbaas thanks voor de reactie Tim! Inmiddels heb ik zelf de Rega Planar 1 gekocht voor 290 euro. Heb hem van Amazon in Engeland gekocht waar hij dus een stuk goedkoper is dan in NL. Ik ben meer dan tevreden met de standaar platter voor nu!

Do you need a phono pre amp for it? My vintage amp has a ground.

The PLUS has a built-in MM phono stage based on the Fono Mini. That's the difference between the regular Planar 1 and the PLUS.

I want to buy my first turntable. Just how much better is the Planar 3 compared to the One Plus? Thanks.

Hi Jim, I am not sure but I am really surprised by the great audio quality of the Planar 1. The best solution is to hear the difference at a Rega reseller.

@@timbaas Hi Tim, thank you for your reply. I have a really nice revealing amp and speakers and I was worried about buying the lower-end Rega turntable in case my system showed its flaws. I know with the more expensive Regas I would need a separate pre-amp which adds to the cost, of course. I think I need to demo, as you say. Also, after playing vinyl, am I going to hate the sound of my CD collection! 😀

Hi RG Productions, It is not possible to turn off the pre-amp at least not that I am aware of. The RP1 Plus is just plug and play with one power button.

Even een jaar later reageren. Maar ik ben benieuwd. Als ik 45 rpm wil spelen zit er dan een adapter bij in?

Helaas zit er standaard geen 45 RPM adapter bij. Deze moet je er los bij bestellen

Ik zit hier heel erg aan te denken. Maar heb niets met een Pre-amp. Ik heb nu een Audio Technica AT120, en het eerste wat er uiteindelijk verwijderd was.. was de Pre-amp. BUT...Nice Turntable and video.

Dankje Wilesco 53! Is de Rega Planar 1 dan niks voor je? Daar zit immers geen pre-amp ingebouwd en hij is ook nog een stuk goedkoper. Uiteraard zijn er naast Rega nog meer mooie platenspelers. Succes met zoeken!

Hi Michael, The preamp does the job well for me and matches great wih the quality of the other parts. I am really impressed with the sound of the RP1 Plus overall. I do really enjoy music but I am not an audiophile.

Tim Baas Thanks Tim, i’m also looking into getting one. I think the RP1 Plus should be good enough for me. Great that it has a preamp, which was one of my reasons in getting it. Don’t want to have extra electronic boxes. 😊

What the difference between planar 1 and planar plus?

The Planar 1 Plus has a built in Pre-Amp. Other components are the same. The RP1 Plus has also a female RCA port and the RP1 a RCA cable.

At 6:02 - when I was removing this guard, the whole white bit (carbon cartridge) came off! Is there a simple way of putting this back on, or is this broken now?

I am not sure but my guess is that you can put it back on. It is also possible to replace the cartridge. Have you already managed to fix the problem?

You need better speakers to really show the sound of the rega p1

Is Rega P1 has an auto stop?

It has no auto stop. You need to power off the turntable manually.

My receiver is the Sony STR-DH790. It is connected with 5 old sony surround speakers and a Jamo SUB 210. Do you have a record player or are you planning to buy one?

@@gerardandreivillasenor5633 The Rega Planar 1 Plus is more than enough for me. I am not that big of an audiophile so the built in pre-amp is very nice! I do also like the fact that you can use my own RCA cables instead of the cheaper RP1 cables. Good luck with comparing record players!
