Well done Rega. I have a Brio amd and a Planet CD player which I've owned for around 25 years. They are still very , very good things and sound great. This is a reall good idea.

"stream after a busy day at work and vinyl on the weekends" describes me much more than I'd care to admit.

Great video and very informational! I do have a question…my whole house has Apple Airplay 2 speakers (HomePods, speakers connected to receivers, or Sonos) so curious if you had suggestions how to “Send” or the turntable is “Actively” sending music from the record to rest of speakers? For example Sonos can only receive Airplay 2 and can’t send audio. Thoughts?

This is great. Very welcoming from Rega. I think this will suit my initial foray into the world of vinyl. One question, when upgrading what gets you most bang for your buck? Speaker upgrade, amp or something else?

Good connections and decent copper will help a lot, but don't spend more than a handful of dollars a foot on the wire. Next best upgrade is a cartridge (Goldring E3s and Nagaoka 110s work very well with entry level Rega TTs). Apart from solid but not expensive connections, you might consider losing the wool platter mat in favour of thin cork or acrylic for a less wooly sound if keeping the stock carbon cart. I really like the idea of the system 1, but in Canada if you shop around you could probably have: Dali O1s /Q3030s (3020s?)/ELAC Debuts, a Rega P2, and a Cambridge AXA 35/NAD 316 for the same price. Drop another $300 on a Goldring E3 and it might be a better bet. That said the Io is a significantly better amp than the NAD especially for phono stage, and a superior amp even to the outstanding Cambridge for its phono if not it's power. I'd also bet that the system 1 is well tuned to sound outstanding together out of the box with no thought or effort.

Katherine the Rega io has a connection called a phono amp on the back of it so you do not need a pre amp the turntable will just plug straight in to this connection and work. Sometimes an amplifier may not have this connection ( the phono amp) or they will not be very good so sometimes people buy separate pre amps for better sound. Apparently though the io has a really good phono amp in it. I'm not sure if the io amp would be powerful enough for a big room so you might want to look at different amps. Sorry for the rubbish explanation I'm new to all of this too.I hope this helps

I was pretty much dead set on this system until the last 2 min! My living room is 29msq - 6.5m * 4.5m, and the system would be at the end of the longer direction. Plus, I'll be listening to mostly rock music. Detached house, so at a decent volume. Should I look elsewhere? I could probably work out how to attach a sub (albeit nervously as am a noobie), but is that room size going to be a problem?

Hello! My dad has been searching for a record player that would do his old vinyls (from the 60-90s) justice! I got him a measly player for £60 a few years ago which I was hoping would allow him to enjoy them again as he hasn’t owned a player in so long but he refuses to use it as he doesn’t want it to ruin his records and the sound quality is rubbish!😔 would this do his old records justice and not scratch them? Hoping to get him a big player set up for his 62nd birthday! Thank you!

You'll be better off going into a hifi shop for more advice though you'd possibly get a better setup buying separates this system has been put together so that it takes the thinking out of doing that

You can get so much better for that price.
