It must be unnerving to have someone publish a book reviewing your work. You must be confident in your work to make such information public. I have heard some claim Dr. Brubaker has been "refuted", but I always ask what is to refute if all he is doing is showing variants on a page. Certainly you can discuss his methodology and why he conveyed what he did, but it is pretty hard to "refute" hard evidence.

Sadly I doubt the "rebuttal" will be as honest or classy . Just from the contents page he read out some of content list , "What is Orientalism?", and "an overview of Brubakers approach to the Quran", given these are first listed, it seemed, it suggests a strawman in the making , or a poisoning of the well . If the approach were sincere they would find the problems they might find, and then offer such analysis as Orientalism , religious or academic bias , or whatever as explanations for these mistakes in the conclusion. Kinda putting the cart before the horse, though we'll see of course.

I'd guess not. You also state *"This is also significant here because here we have a man critquing the quran..."* This framing shows you really do not have a clue what is being done here, early manuscripts with differences are being analysed , and perhaps ideas about how these differences occurred are being offered. The only reason you see this respectable investigation as "critiquing the Quran" is because just the possibility of variation is an anathema to your dogma. I am not sure how you can go through page by page, word by word dot by dot, and call that careless. His videos require the viewer to make some take some effort because it is so detailed. Today, there are over 30 different Arabic Qurans circulating worldwide with thousands of variations. People in Morocco use warsh and call the 1924 Hafs Quran fake and vice versa. I heard an Ustas from Nigeria saying Diouri Quran is fake, it doesn’t agree with the 1924 Hafs Quran

It's 1:31 am and I am watching a man opening a box.

It is amazing the amount of interest, what is not much more than a pamphlet, has stirred up. The world truly needs a critical text of the Quran. This dabbling into the arena with Dr. Brubaker's little book (size, not a judgement of importance) is a welcome first start to what is desperately needed for Islamic scholarship from the secular perspective.

@@sethsuleiman4419 Common knowledge among Muslims doesn't need to be correct, and, in fact, it's not when it concerns topics such as the non-preservation of the Quran. it's also a stretch to consider the Muslims you cite as being competent enough to reveal that Brubaker is incompetent, insincere, careless, etc. And it sounds like you have derived a caricature view of Brubaker from secondhand sources like the two you're citing. Why don't you do firsthand research instead? Don't rely on those Muslim sources and keep in mind that they largely say what they say because they need to defend Islam no matter whether that's the right thing to do: they'll tell you what you want to hear even if they shouldn't, because Islam is more important to them than truth.

I hope you do not write a book for the refutation. But that you learn and understand and just make your next book so much better. Really just give different examples, go into better detail. But really all they are doing is writing you a book on how to improve your work to show more problems with the early Quran manuscripts. Am worried that deep down Brubaker is becoming a muslim. He used be more aggressive in his rebuttals which was great to watch. It seems to me he has become much calmer in his rebuttal attacks. Not sure whats happening to him. Hopefully he stays on our side.

Brubaker couldn't answer to the refutations done by lay Muslims on KZread. You expect him to answer Dr Altikulac? 😁 Brubaker is like a joke in the academic circles.

You need to get yourself a decent every day carry knife that is sharp, I was slightly embarrassed when you opened those boxes. Get yourself a edc flashlight as well, great for walking the dog in the evening. If you haven't got a dog, get a dog as well!

@@song4night I refer you to Quran chaper 112 of 4 verses; (1) Say, He is Allah, unique one, (2) Allah is absolute, (3) He beget not nor is He begotten, (4) Nothing is like unto Him. (2) So Allah see us day and night and hear us in noise or in silent; He create, give life, sustain and take away life. He tell us the purpose of life and how to achieve that purpose.

It comes as no great surprise that 'Islam' responded to Dr Brubaker's book with 'Refutation' however, regardless of how distasteful to 'Islam' the facts may be; facts have no favoritism or prejust and still remain the facts. Regardless of the merits or lack of merits of the book 'Refutation', what this book will do is give Muslims the opportunity to blindly claim 'Dr Brubaker's book has been refuted case closed' which conforms completely with the Muslim mindset...

Well be interesting to see how Altikulaç addresses the facts that you presented in your book - the fact that there are human corrections in the oldest surviving manuscripts of the Qur'an of the 20 genres highlighted briefly by your academic research and thesis... Who knows why these corrections were undertaken - be it to correct scribal errors in transcriptions, or to standardise variant manuscripts to a standard narration, or a combination of both. The fact is that there exists these corrections of the 20+ types your research has uncovered and this fact completely DESTROYS the Islamic narrative that the Generous Quran (al-Quran al-Kareem) is perfectly preserved -word for word, letter for letter, tashkil for tashkil, and that in turn destroys the foundational Islamic claim of divine source and authority for Islam as a religion from God and Muhammad as a prophet of God!

Dr. Brubaker I am curious if you have found Surahs 2:142 thru 2:145 in any pre-8th century Qur'an manuscripts? Some have suggested that these verses were a later addition to the Quranic text so I am wondering if you can shed any light on this matter?
