Refused at the border - Finland, NO! 🇫🇮 [S3 - Eps 26]

In this episode I am planning to cross the border into Finland from Sweden. But... when they see my Dutch passport at the border, I get a harsh respond. Finland, NO! Go Norway, or Sweden! So, I guess that's what I will do then!

@david kettell Hi David, Yes yes yes ...in Finland, Lapland does indeed suffer from mosquitoes from spring to autumn ... even when camping and having a bite to eat ... in nature we carried a mosquito net, otherwise guaranteed risk of a bite of mosquitoes inside. .. global warming? With friends we have been traveling through Europe for 50 years now by motorbike, over the years we have seen nature change. Every year on a motor-trip we tell each other how different locally looks & and changes..... + / --

I'm not sure if they only have front facing cameras, for bikes they often only have a small camera filming you passing by because of the number plate, the speed measure is done from the front... :-)

Thank you Noraly. I watched your excellent, thoughtful interview on Ongekend and was moved by your discussion about the comments on your videos. The videos are fantastic, and what they demonstrate (and offer to your viewers) is courage and honesty. If there is a single message, it might be, trust in yourself, and don't be afraid of uncertainty -- life is a journey, like your trips, and you must enjoy the ride. Thi is wonderful in itself, but there is an entirely separate dimension to your videos that I had not considered, and that was the discussions that sometimes occur between commenters, who respond to each other from all over the world. Indeed, these comments are in integral part of the entire presentation. Your thoughts on this added an entirely new dimension to your channel. Sorry for the length of this, but after watching all of your travels, and now thinking about your comments on that podcast, and looking at the scenery as I rode north this weekend, it's as though everything suddenly came into bold relief. There is a real lesson in all of this. Cheers.

"The change of scenery" and the mountains you see, is Scandinavias "spine", The Scandes (or Scandinavian mountain range). The mountain range run all the way from northern Norway border with Finland, along the Sweden/Norway border (Norway is basically Scandi mountains) all the way down to the southern tip of Norway and Bohuslän in Sweden. Making the mountain range the logical divider between our countries. The mountains are also one reason Norwegian vikings had to find new land. xD

Of course they are because in a welfare state, the ones paying for the party (middle class) are expected to obey laws with Prussian punctuality and because a large portion of people don't, it's a good excuse to make them pay more. In Finland 1km/h speeding gets you a ticket but at the same time, people who live on social security are free to shoplift without any consequences (don't have to pay the fine and don't have to go to prison if not paying the fine). It's no wonder that no skilled worker who has a choice, moves to Finland. Instead they get a lot of immigrants who permanently cash in with social security. A tip for Finnish voters; if you treat the taxpayers like dirt, don't expect people to wanna become tax payers in such an immoral atmosphere.

Unfortunately this Sunday October 11 I was doing repairs on my house and had an "altercation" with an extension ladder and broke a bone in my left hand. That has changed my plans plus I can't work either (I do construction). So now your "Let's Go" means even more to me! Stay safe, keep riding, "take me along". Wow that was a long ride, and now another tomorrow! If you can pick up some Under Armour Cold Gear or some Smart Wool under garments to help stay warm. Both work well for me!

Indeed, Norway has the more "dramatic" side of the mountain range and by necessity they've had to cut their roads through them (north -> south) while our Swedish roads cut in east to west and end up in dead ends where they don't take you into Norway. Normally that's not that big a problem, but in 2020 crossing back and forth over the border to see both sides can be... uhm... difficult.
