From a wildlife biologist: thank you! It is so important for people to understand why we need wet specimens and properly preserved dry specimens as well. The college I'm studying at as the worst collections ever! My current professor has collected 80% of the specimens we have due to the college not caring about wildlife biology. It is vital for people to understand why we collect specimens. So thank you!

If more of us reptile people knew how to i gaurntee we would preserve more animals most people have no clue how to do it which is why you can only buy them at oddities shops
I was not expecting that thicc jar at the end 😂
I remember coming across your channel and seeing a wet specimen video. It's so cool to see them make a comeback after all this time. It's so interesting to look at!! If I ever get a snake, I would wanna make a wet specimen out of it once it passes away.

Yes! I enjoy making them but I also get that not everyone enjoys them so I make content sparingly on them.
I understand and respect it.
My daughter has 2 wet specimens of sharks.

@tgfbando2413 Yes it is. It's just like with the reptiles he has here. As long as it's ethically sourced and passed away from natural causes (and lastly as long as it isn't an endangered and thus protected species), it's all fair game and alright. I personally really wish I had the means to make my runt of the litter kitten (who passed at 2 weeks old) a wet specimen. Just because you do not like an idea, doesn't mean it isn't okay or allowed bud I'm sorry.
I think wet specimens are very beautiful! They're all one of a kind and just a fantastic way to preserve something that would've othervise just decomposed, of course, there's a certain beauty in that as well, circle of life and everything, but when it comes to reptiles and such, which are lovely pets, and well- even when not kept as pets, I think it's a beautiful memorial piece of their existense. I'm kinda bummed that I live in EU, and I don't know where I could maybe get something like this for myself. I love biology and pretty things, so, a wet specimen would definitely be a very treasured thing of mine.

Heya! Im from the EU too and have seen quite some wet specimen on sale before. Its not too uncommon here, depending on where u live. Etsy has a lot of ppl selling wet specimen. And shops like Preparatenshop in the netherlands sells them too! Its a store specifically for taxidermy and if ur into biology its a, great place to look into :D

My snake had to have her ovaries removed and I still have them in a jar lol
Hey man, love your content. As a wildlife biologist, wet specimens are really inportant for us to study. Keep up the good work. I would love buy a snake from in the near future. Keep creating your awsome content. Peace
How did you keep it before putting it in? Did you freeze? I too want to do this if one of my snakes die
@Molinaro_Snake_Lab

Yes, you need to get them in the freezer as soon as possible after they pass.
How pretty! I think wet specimens are awesome.
I know a teacher at my school (in El Paso) actually had a LOT of wet specimens
I think they're beautiful!!! 🐍 🖤 🐍
I made a wet specimen of a prime mini horse foal that had been naturally aborted. It was for my friends high-school bio class she was the teacher and loved having it to show the kids.
My school has an entire display case of wet and dry specimens.
I don't like snakes but after watching your posts, they are beautiful creatures. Thank you for the education
one of my favourite teachers in high school was biology, partly for his window wall packed with plants and specimen jars!
Quite interesting haven’t really seen any content about this before. How often do you need to refresh the liquid?
I love that you source these ethically and don't let their deaths go to waste. Sort of like donating your body and organs to science after you die.
wet specimens are really cool!! i have an itty bitty baby hognose wet specimen, its sooo tiny and its really cool! i got it from the oddities expo last year and im hoping to get more this year!
This kinda gives me mad scientist vibes
Went to the British Natural History Museum and saw some really cool wet specimens of animals that are now extinct. These have so much scientific value. Plus, it's a really sweet way to remember little friends who've passed on.
I love having both wet & dry specimens in my house for display!
Nothing ever truly leaves the snake lab. 😅
Sooo... the donated their bodies to science? lol
This is awesome!! Thank youuu!’❤
I had no idea wet specimens needed to be refreshed. I thought it was a one and done deal.

It can be. But I like to keep them looking good nice . So I refresh when the liquid gets dingy or sometimes it evaporates.
It must take a lot of alcohol if you were to put a long snake in something like a fish tank so it could be more stretched out, but I think that would be cool to see tbh
Those are amazing
Oh I love this video
Some of those snakes are too beautiful not to make a specimen too beautiful
I hope to see some at the world oddity expo
Hello wonderfull video like usual
Definitely not a fan of wet specimens personally but with how beautiful some reptiles can be, I can see how some people would be.
Very cool
Education is important ❤! 😊 and glad all jars are not killed unnatural. 😊.
I actually have one of those of the kitten and baby shark
It does bother me, but Ii understand how others could see beauty. I feel bad for the reminder of a loved life lost.
That is sad that all Those Beautiful snakes died 😢

I thought that formaldehyde is the only liquid that can be used when making wet specimens😅
What was the first liquid that was in it that preserved the snake
Even in death they still serve
Hi where do you get your jar for wet specimens
A true lover of animals. They need to be studied and loved Why let the corpse go to waste? Instead it can be used as a educational aid to help people grow an appreciation for the living members of the species. Such simple things are so effective and can be a real help for the long term preservation of a species Well done. It makes me so happy to see a animal channel adhering to the most important part of education with animals The animal is special Its heartbeat is not.
