Fantastic review!

Yaaaay! I upgraded from my 2008 Sportage and purchased a Snow White Pearl X-line Seltos. I love it. Great video. Agree with everything stated. So while not all of the same bells and whistles as the SX…still loaded with groovy gadgets and technology. Very happy with this vehicle. And the turbo is a lot of fun!!!

Great review. I do wish you used the tape measure to measure the width of the trunks, like shortest space between the wheels and the widest space. That would be great to help in some comparisons. I just test drove a 2024 Seltos today and was very surprised at the lack of cargo width, compared to my 2011 Sonata. I barely could fit my golf clubs in the Seltos and only if place in there in specific ways, without lowering the back seats.

It’s actually a fairly big cargo area that competes with many compact SUVs. It’s 41.5 inches between the bulkiest part of the wheel wells. And ~49 inches from side to side otherwise. Lift gate opening 42.5 inches at the widest portion. If the golf clubs remain a big issue for you, maybe consider a Sportage?

@@CarConfections interestingly enough, the owners manual says RON 95 and AKI of 91 or higher for the turbo. Kia's site is confusing. One thing says 87 octane or higher and another page with tech specs says 91 octane or higher.

Very interesting trim line up! Def should do standard LEDs.

I’ve had my 2024 Kia Seltos S for a few months now and I love the way it drives and handles. The CVT is silky smooth and 2.0 naturally aspirated engine is fine for merging and highway driving.

The Seltos and new Chevy Trax are the value leaders in this segment. I would choose the Seltos 1.6 w/ the 8 spd auto. Trax has better reliability, but I don't trust a 3 banger engine,

Trax has better reliability? Most Chevy's are junk. 3 year powertrain warranty vs a 10 year with Kia.

We have a 2024 Kona First Look coming to the channel soon... There will be a lot of differences but the main one is that this looks a lot more like a traditional SUV. The Kona is sleek and lower to the ground.

I’ve researched towing with the Seltos. It seems like many other countries state that it can tow up to 1,000 pounds. In the U.S., Kia recommends that you do not tow with it. I’ve read a few U.S. dealer sites that say while not recommended, you could easily tow up to 1,000 pounds. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thank you for any answers.

The US is unique in that our SAE organization has created a safety guideline for towing, which does not exist in Europe. The Chinese have proven that you can tow with a moped, but the question is about safety. Europeans tow with very little tongue weight and in some countries at a max speed as low as 60kph, which is just over 35mph. In the US, we rate vehicles so that they can safely tow on the highway and with higher tongue weight for greater stability, and have to pass tests like being able to go up and down certain grades and do avoidance maneuvers. So if you want to be safe, don't tow with the Seltos, its too small and it will invalidate your 10 year powertrain warranty. Look at a Nissan Rogue, its about the same price, bigger, just as fast with its 205hp, and is actually rated 37mpg highway which is superior to the seltos, and is rated safe to tow 1500lbs.

I wonder about the 3 yr paint warranty? Can this be possible? This appears to be KIA's coolest little SUV -- and fast at under 6 sec to 60MPH.

The moment somebody mentioned the speaker grills look like old grills that were banged up... I could no longer un-see that description haha. Believe it or not, I could not buy this vehicle because of that. It would always be in my face!

Good question for many manufacturers. I think it’s purely just to make people buy higher trims because they know that halogen lights looks ridiculous on modern vehicles.

Why do people like LED lighting so much? Living in Canada, we have snow. Typical halogen lights produce enough heat to keep the snow from building up on headlights. So unless they make heated LED lamps like they do side mirrors, I’ll take halogens.

They don’t have that awful yellow hue and offer better visibility. I live in the northern US, and never have a problem with snow covering them up while driving.

I don't know why Kia isn't giving the Panaromic sunroof even in the 2024 model.

The only thing I don’t like about the Seltos are the speaker grilles; being all dented, it looks like someone kicked the crap outta them! 🤨

@althurules There has been in the past, not sure if it's been fully resolved yet or not. If you search Hyundai/Kia 7spd DCT, you will see more than enough on it. I personally would stay clear of it. There was even a recall and I believe class action lawsuit on the previous gen Tuscon 1.6T model which was equipped with the 7spd DCT.

@@Kazze1 the power figures are underrated. 158 hp and 184 lb ft of torque is what VW is saying, but multiple DYNO tests have said 180-185 hp and ~200 lb ft of torque. my sister has one and it does 0-60 in 7.4 seconds and gets an average of 33.1 mpg, city & highway combined. not to mention, the taos has much more room and a better driving experience and a lot of upper class features such as adaptive headlights, 10-color dash and door ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and full digital cockpit that the toyota more than likely doesn't have. and although the toyota may be a little more reliable and fuel efficient, the taos for sure has me sold.

@@barbz_zayne I respect your opinion. However, the safety systems on a Toyota don’t cost $2,000 extra since they are all standard. To be honest, I don’t really need a pano sun roof since repairs for a break will be more expensive. Ambient lighting anyone can live without.

The engine in the Taos is pretty good, but the transmission leaves much to be desire. I don't understand why automakers continues to put DCTs in cheap mass production crossovers. We have seen Hyundai/Kia struggle with their DCTs in the vehicles, and VW decided to throw one into their entry level crossover. I'll give Hyundai/Kia a pass for their DCTs on their hybrids, Kona (it screams hatchback, not crossover despite the cladding), and midsized crossover (their 8 speed auto can't handle the torque of the 2.5t engine). The only vehicle I can't give a pass to is the last gen Hyundai Tucson (WTH were they thinking? They should've kept the 6 speed auto from the jump) and the Kia Seltos (The 8 speed auto should've been in this from the jump. You can't off-road with the dry DCT). Hopefully, Hyundai/Kia will spread the 8 speed auto to the 2.0 engine/AWD powertrains and leave the CVT to the FWD models. The only CVT/AWD powertrain combo I trust is Subaru. Now back to the VW Taos, they need to swap the transmission pairings. The DCT need the pair with FWD, and the 8 speed auto need to be pair with AWD. You shouldn't be trying to off-road any crossover with a DCT, let alone a CVT. We enthusiasts know this, but the average American buyer don't, and they don't care to know. They don't know the technical difference, strengths, and limitations of the powertrains in any of their vehicles, and therefore automakers need to Toyotafied (idiotproof) lineup for their sake.

Not fully LED all around. No privacy cover in the rear....Kia design choices are annoying sometimes. Others in the class do stuff Kia doesn't

@@anjansingh3093 They explained awhile back that when they review cars provided by the manufacturer (a press car), Drew or Mason can drive. But when they had one provided by the dealer, Drew was the driver because at the time the dealership's insurance required the driver to be at least 21 to drive. Seems like that was the case. But now both are over 21.
